Chapter Thirty-Three
Wang Zijiao stared blankly at Li Huan, entranced by the warmth and gentleness in his eyes and the softness of his voice. In that instant, she felt something brush against her heart.
"Qiao, forgive me, okay?" Wang Qiao was startled awake by his question and only then realized she had been staring at him foolishly for so long. Her face suddenly turned red as she quickly shifted her gaze away, not daring to look into his focused eyes again. She felt that just now, she had been mesmerized by his eyes, which is why she brushed off his hand, hung her head low and remained silent, calming down her thoughts and preventing herself from getting carried away with wild fancies.
Li Hui looked at Wang Zhiqiao's reddened ear tips, with a smile in the corner of her eyes. It turned out that she was shy now. Thinking back, Li Hui herself was indeed confused by Wang's tears earlier and had said such words so bluntly. Apparently, Wang had taken them to heart.
Wang Zijiao could feel Li Miao's focused gaze on her even when she lowered her head, and her face grew even redder. Wang Zijiao hinted to herself that the one looking at her was Yang Rui, it was Yang Rui, what he said didn't have any other meaning, he just didn't want the girl to cry, it wasn't directed at her, don't overthink it, don't think about it anymore. The more she hinted to herself like this, the more she thought about it. Wang Zijiao was on the verge of collapse, why did he always say things that made people imagine things? Having read so many romance novels, she easily thought crookedly, couldn't he just say something normal? She had no face to see him now, and with her head still lowered, she turned around.
Looking at Wang Zijiao who was so embarrassed that he wanted to crawl under the table, Li Miao couldn't help but burst out laughing. When Wang Zijiao heard her laughter, he became even more humiliated and wished he could disappear from her sight.
After a class, Wang Zhiqiao's face temperature had not dissipated, fortunately Li Miao left after the class, otherwise she would have really rushed out. Just as Wang Zhiqiao was thinking wildly, Yang Rui floated to her front seat like a wandering soul. Wang Zhiqiao quickly patted her own face, letting herself quickly come back to reality.
Yang Rui looked at Wang Zhiqiao with a pitiful expression and said, "Tell me, why did I have such bad luck today? Why was I caught by the class teacher at just the right moment? Come and comfort this unfortunate person quickly."
"The class teacher is so good to you, she won't do anything to you, she's just trying to scare you, it's okay." Wang Zijiao patted her shoulder to comfort her.
"Ah! She wants me to score over 100 points, isn't this taking my life? I say, which time wasn't I wandering around 95 points?" Yang Rui let out a sigh, feeling that his doomsday was approaching.
"That's better than some people, those girls may not even pass, so don't worry!" Wang Zijiao smiled and nodded at the few people who looked more miserable than her. Yang Rui thought about it and realized she was worrying too much. Even if the sky fell, there were tall people to hold it up, and even if the teacher wanted to settle accounts, there were others to take the blame for her. Why bother herself? Thinking this way made the air feel fresher, the people around her more lovable, and the sky still blue. She looked up at Wang Zijiao who was about to pinch her face, suddenly widening her eyes - she had been so careless, only now noticing that Wang's eyes were a bit swollen.
"Have you cried? What's wrong?" As she spoke, she turned Wang Zhiqiao's face with her hand to see if there was anything else she hadn't noticed, and at the same time grabbed her palm to take a look, only feeling relieved when she saw that it wasn't injured.
"It's nothing," Wang Zijiao hastily explained.
"Zhou Qiao, you're not obedient at all. You don't tell me anything and treat me like an outsider. I'm really hurt." Yang Rui made a heartbroken gesture, accusing Wang Zhouqiao of being dishonest with him.
"It's not Li Miao, it's clearly his fault, but he won't admit it and keeps making excuses." Wang Zhiqiao saw that she couldn't push it off any longer, so she told the truth and signaled to Yang Rui not to be sad, saying that she had already scolded him on her behalf.
Yang Rui's face was filled with confusion, "What did he do wrong?"
"He didn't do anything wrong, if he hadn't brought that group of boys over, you wouldn't have been surrounded by a group of girls asking questions and wouldn't have been caught on the spot by the class teacher." Wang Zijiao indignantly accused Li Miao to Yang Rui.
"So you think it's his fault." Yang Rui couldn't help but smile as she looked at her friend, who actually dared to think that this had anything to do with Li Huan. She was really... Yang Rui started to feel helpless on behalf of Li Huan. She could imagine the look on Li Huan's face, which was about to be blown away by anger.
"It's all because of him." Wang Zhiqiao snorted in anger.
"Are you crying because he scolded you?" Yang Rui thought that even if Li Miao had beaten her to tears, she wouldn't find it strange. Being wrongly accused of such a big crime out of the blue would make anyone feel indignant, let alone someone like Li Miao who was like a proud son of heaven. How could he tolerate being wronged by others? As for why she asked this, it was because she felt that even if Li Miao was furious, he wouldn't take it out on Wang Zhi Jiao. Moreover, if he had really done something, how could there not be any rumors or whispers in the class? She might have been too distracted to notice, but that didn't mean she wouldn't have sensed such a big commotion.
"Hmm." Wang Zijiao only felt that she was crying so much that it was embarrassing, and at that time, she just felt sad. Seeing him not admitting his mistake, she felt even more wronged, and her tears couldn't be held back. Now thinking about it again, she thought that she had cried so unreasonably at that time, like a child who didn't get candy.
"You really are... I feel more and more sympathetic to Li Hui, he must be so suffocated." Yang Rui couldn't help but laugh out loud, while feeling sad that Li Hui had run into his good friend. "He's really pitiful, being wrongly accused by you for no reason, and then when he tries to explain, he gets intimidated by your tears, definitely can't explain himself."
"Poor people must have something hateful about them, you say. If it wasn't for him, how would you encounter such a thing? It's all because of him." Wang Zhiqiao saw that even her good friend was speaking up for him, which made her even angrier. Even if she herself was being unreasonable and making a fuss, her friend should still be speaking up for her, so why was she siding with Li Miao?!
Yang Rui was speechless, and could only express to Li Miao that he loved her but couldn't help, it seemed that this hat was stuck on him. Wang Zhiqiao now wholeheartedly believed it was his fault, and saying more would be useless.
"Fine, even if it's his fault, why are you crying? It's not that serious." Yang Rui thought that no matter how much Li Miao refused to admit it, she didn't need to cry. She knew he was special in his heart, but what made him special wasn't something she could know.
"It's just that I felt wronged, so I cried." Wang Zhiqiao thought about it and at that time, he felt more wronged, so he just cried, and tears came down.
"She was speaking up for me, but it wasn't to the point of tears. It was also because she felt distressed about being surrounded by a group of boys today." As she said this, Yang Rui's mind suddenly flashed back to that scene. So Wang Zhiqiao blamed Li Miao for everything, which made sense.
Wang Zijiao was indeed reminded of her helplessness when she was surrounded by a group of boys after Yang Rui said that.
"You look at me and tell me, what is he to you?" Yang Rui let her look into his own eyes, Wang Zhiqiao's face was full of confusion.
