Chapter 9

  Chapter 9

After talking to Yang Rui, Wang Zijiao decided to start speaking with the people in front of her and try to communicate with them. However, every time she wanted to open her mouth and talk to them, not a single word could come out, and she could only stare at them blankly. If they had a good temper, they would smile back at her; if they had a bad temper, they would give her a cold look.

Wang Zijiao began to want to give up on the idea.

Looking at the people who had been performing various jokes in front of her for the past few days, Li Miao wiped away sweat from his forehead. What was she trying to do now? Was she going to perform a silent drama with someone else? She would call someone over, stare at them for half a day without saying a word, and it made him want to laugh.

He didn't understand Wang Zijiao's dilemma.

"Ah, I guess it won't work," Wang Zijiao said dejectedly as she lay on the table. She had tried almost everyone in front of her, and only Li Miao was left. If it still didn't work with him, then she would have no other choice.

The reason she asked Li Miao last was that she felt embarrassed and didn't have the face to talk to him. At first, when he tried to speak to her, she had shut him down with her silence. Now, she didn't want to talk to him at all. If only she hadn't been so heartless in the beginning... now she wanted to talk to him, but it was up to him whether or not he would be willing.

Thinking about it made her feel that Li Miao wouldn't have a good expression for her. For the past few days, whenever they met on the road, he treated her like a stranger.

If only she hadn't been so silent towards him in the beginning... perhaps he could have helped her walk out of her previous shadows. Thinking about Li Miao's smiling face made Wang Zijiao suddenly feel some regret. He always smiled so brightly that it made people feel hopeful. It was as if she had been lost in a dark and uncertain world, but he was like a ray of sunshine shining through.

But everything had been messed up by her own actions.

There was a voice in her mind telling her to try again, maybe he would forgive her for being so heartless. With determination, she saw Li Miao standing at the corner and took a deep breath as she ran towards him.

"Li Miao, can you agree with me?" She asked quickly before lowering her head to wait for his response. She didn't have the courage to look at him while speaking. If he refused to help her, then there was nothing else she could do. In the future, she would think of another way. Even if he wanted to refuse her, it wouldn't be too difficult.

"Haha..." A burst of laughter erupted, and Wang Zijiao's head shot up in anger. He didn't have to agree with her, but why did he have to laugh? Wasn't she embarrassed enough already?

Just as she was about to shout at Li Miao, she saw him looking at her with a puzzled expression. She heard the sound of laughter coming from behind him and turned around to see a group of people holding back their smiles as they stared at the two of them.

Why were they laughing? Wang Zijiao didn't understand, but then she thought about what she had just said again. Her face suddenly flushed red with embarrassment. She had been so nervous that she hadn't explained anything and just asked him to agree with her. What was wrong with her?

"Wow, is this you confessing to our Miao?" A boy patted Li Miao on the shoulder and joked, "Miao, what are you thinking? Agree already! The girl has been waiting for a long time!"

Wang Zijiao had heard people talk about him before - Zhang Yang, the school team's basketball player who was very skilled and often played on the court. He was quite handsome with healthy, wheat-colored skin due to playing basketball outdoors frequently. Many girls liked him, and he was basically considered one of the school's most popular guys.

After hearing what he said, Wang Zijiao's face turned even redder, and she wished she could just faint right there and then.

Looking at Li Miao staring back at her with a hesitant expression, he probably thought she had come to confess to him. Now he didn't know how to refuse her either.

"I didn't mean it like that," Wang Zijiao quickly explained. She didn't want to make things awkward for Li Miao.
