Chapter Thirty-Four Evening Self-Study
The time for evening study had arrived, I came to the agreed teaching building and saw that the whole building was already brightly lit from downstairs.
Many classmates have already sat in the classroom, with almost no empty seats. Occasionally, there are a few empty seats on which books and notebooks are placed, which are used by classmates to occupy seats.
He beckoned me to sit down beside him. I saw him sitting there, with a look of calmness and serenity on his face, just as he was when I first met him.
"Here." He smiled. The kind expression seemed to be able to dispel the gloom in one's heart instantly, and he was such a person with infectious power.
I smiled and nodded, sat down, took out his book and handed it to him: "Thank you." Yes, thank you for the book that accompanied me through those seconds and made those moments beautiful.
The classroom was very quiet, and we didn't speak again but instead read books and studied on our own.
He sat beside me, from the day we first met until now, I don't know how many times he has sat beside me like this.
But I know this feeling is natural and I seem to have gotten used to it.
He was reading literary works, I was reading an English book, and the two of us quietly read in room 302.
When I stopped halfway and pondered, I saw him with a very focused expression, as if nothing could disturb him.
I caught another glimpse of his profile, and his profile was a clear outline. Unexpectedly, he had beautiful eyelashes, like those of a girl. He seemed to have noticed my gaze and looked at me for a moment. It was as if he was asking: "What's wrong?" Because he might still be immersed in his book, he didn't say anything, but his eyes told me something about his thoughts. I started to feel a bit embarrassed, I was just glancing at him unconsciously while reading my book, without any intention of staring!
"Classmate, can you help me pick up my pen?" At this time, a girl sitting behind me asked for our help.
He and I almost simultaneously bowed our heads to pick up the pen, our two heads nearly collided together. This made me even more embarrassed, my face suddenly turned red.
All he heard was him saying: "Never mind, let me do it!"
This gentle remark rescued me from an awkward emotional state.
He saw the difference in me, because all those subtle changes were reflected on my face. Maybe he really felt my heart racing at that moment, so I couldn't read anymore?
He handed the pen to that classmate, then said to me: "Have you finished reading? It's time to end our study session, let's go!" He smiled, his smile seemed to always be able to encourage people.
He really seems like someone who understands me very well. He appears to be able to sense all of my thoughts and feelings. This has happened many times before.
When I went out, I felt a bit cold. That's what spring is like - big temperature differences between day and night.
"You've been reading for an hour and a half, aren't you tired? It's also getting a bit cold outside, why don't we go get a cup of milk tea instead?" he suggested.
"Good." I replied. It's still early, going for a hot drink is also great.
Then we walked towards the school gate. From the teaching building to the school entrance is a fragrant road surrounded by flowers.
"He said: 'Those flowers are really beautiful!' The admiration and praise were overflowing from his words."
"Do you like flowers too?" I asked.
"I like it. In the past, I used to plant flowers, my parents were busy, and all the flowers at home were watered and arranged by me. Later, because of increasingly tight studies, I had to give up, watching those flowers wither and wilt, and I was already powerless, feeling very regretful! Flowers need careful care. People and flowers have feelings, beautiful flowers, people who understand how to love and cherish flowers are also beautiful." He said quietly.
As I listened to his words, I unintentionally sensed the emotions of this boy who also loved flowers.
"Yes! The relationship between humans and flowers is inseparable. Flowers are beautiful, people are beautiful, and the world will also be beautiful. This is a kind of enlightenment!" I said softly.
I met someone who also likes flowers, I'm delighted. It turns out we both deeply love those flowers.
A gentle breeze blows by, bringing with it a faint fragrance. The wind caresses my face softly, and I've always loved this soothing sensation.
On such a fragrant and floating night, I suddenly remembered that he was like a gentle breeze all along. This boy-like-the-wind gave people a fresh feeling, his every smile and the scene of him liking flowers today quietly stayed in my heart.
