Chapter Forty-sixth English Corner
The school has set up an English corner, aiming to practice the spoken English of enthusiasts. Every Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 is the activity time for the English corner.
The location of English Corner is in the woods beside the school's teaching building.
At 7 o'clock in the evening, I arrived at English Corner, where some classmates had already started conversations. Everything heard here is in English, with classmates chatting either one-on-one or in groups of three or four people. If you listen carefully, you can always hear some beautiful sentences.
The streetlights shone into the woods, adding some brightness to the English Corner. The campus, which was full of youthful energy during the day, had returned to calmness, with a mysterious night scene, but the English Corner was filled with vitality, and students were chatting in pairs with great seriousness.
I heard a familiar voice coming from not far away, it seemed to be Xia Wenyu's voice, he was speaking very fluent English. I looked around and indeed it was him. He is from the Chinese department! He can also speak such beautiful English. I couldn't help but sincerely admire him in my heart. I walked over and greeted him, he saw me and responded with great enthusiasm. So I also joined their conversation.
Later we started talking alone.
"I didn't expect you to be here too," I said.
"I like English, I come to practice my oral skills, this English corner is great, it provides us with the opportunity to practice."
"Yes, spoken language is something that needs to be practiced constantly." I praised.
"It's too kind of you to say that. I'm not an English major, I just like learning languages and that's why I'm here. In the future, after graduation, I plan to take the postgraduate entrance exam for English major."
"Are you going to major in English?" I asked.
"Yes, maybe studying abroad!"
Talking in English here, but it was easy to know his future plans.
Oral practice will involve these aspects of questions: self-introduction, weather, environment, hobbies, topics, future plans and so on.
But he said he wanted to study abroad, which touched my heart.
That person, He Xiying, who had once been with me and talked like this, quietly came into my heart at such an unexpected moment.
He has been abroad for a long time and still there is no news from him, not even a word.
Is he doing well in the foreign country?
I remember tomorrow is his birthday.
Why has it been so long and he is still in a certain place in my heart, lingering without leaving? Why does my heart still ache subtly when I think of him until now?
In our conversation, I had a moment of pause. Xia Wenyu saw that I was lost in thought. Although the light was dim, my gloomy expression could still be seen.
He asked with concern: "What's wrong?"
I smiled and said, "Nothing."
I continued talking with him. Our conversation was still going on, but my heart began to ache because of sad past events.
Usually always speaking in Chinese, today changed to another language, changed to another way, but it's a different feeling.
In the evening breeze, leaves dance with the wind, and fragrance fills the air, adding a touch of soft beauty to this campus night. The stars shine brightly in the sky, distant yet dazzling, everything is so beautiful. But some things can only be known by oneself, and some heart matters can only be understood by oneself.
