Chapter 7: The Madhouse
Ever since I became Ran Lingfeng's girlfriend, I don't have to do anything every day, even meals are made by him for me to eat. I really didn't expect that guy's cooking is better than mine, and he does things quickly too! Sigh, this boyfriend I picked up for free is really capable, every day we go shopping, entertainment venues, camping, and he introduces his friends to me.
That day, he took me to a remote mountain villa where all the residents were mentally ill or idiots. Some drooled, some bit their fingers, some smiled foolishly and others talked non-stop... What was strange was that these people with mental illnesses were spotlessly clean and knew how to work.
"Maple, you're here." A man in his twenties walked over, handing Maple some documents.
Maple looked at the information and said happily: "Great, Sen, you go help Liu Bo collect his belongings and send him home, I'll go see others."
"Alright, Feng, who is this...?" Sen asked in puzzlement.
"She's Jiang Xuer, my girlfriend, and this is Chen Sen, the principal here," said Feng.
Hello
Hello
After the greetings, Maple pulled me by the hand to a small door on the right side. There was an empty space with a small stage set up. The mentally ill patients sat below watching people dance, sing and give speeches...
"Maple, is this an insane asylum?" I asked in confusion
"This house was originally my grandmother's residence. After she passed away, no one came to live here. Two years ago, Sen returned from the United States and met a mentally ill person on the road. The patient's experience was similar to mine in the past, which brought back many memories. Sen and I sympathized with their experiences, so I renovated this house and recruited some people to take care of patients here. Every day, we teach them physical exercises, give lectures, and let them have fun. As a result, they become happy, and their minds naturally recover. Some recovered patients are sent back home, while those who don't want to return stay here to help out. The Liu Bo that Sen mentioned earlier is also one of them." Feng's expression was gloomy, unable to express his complex emotions.
"You... had meningitis before too?" I asked in puzzlement.
"Ah, this starts with a girl named Shan Shan. She was an orphan adopted by my grandmother and was the most spoiled by her. She's one year older than me and treated me like a younger brother. Then there's Lin Hao, we three grew up together. Five years ago in August, three days after my grandmother passed away, I escorted her coffin back to our hometown. Normally, girls aren't allowed to attend funerals, but Shan Shan appeared halfway through the procession, enraging my father. At that time, Lin Hao pulled Shan Shan away, and within half a day, she was killed. Lin Hao disappeared, and in an instant, I lost two of the people closest to me. Adding to this, my mother forced me to marry my cousin to stabilize the company, which stimulated my nerves and gave me anxiety disorder. I was sent to America for treatment for two years before returning home. From then on, I no longer lived with my family and instead lived alone in that villa." After hearing everything Feng said, I truly couldn't believe what I had just heard.
"Is Lin Hao the one who saved me last time? Now that he's appeared, why don't you catch him?"
"His dad is a Supreme Court judge~~~~~" Maple fell silent for a moment, then said: "Let's go take a look." Maple pointed to the old Eight Treasure Tower in front of them.
Entering the main gate of Bao Lou, walking 50 meters and turning right, I see that all the patients in the room are making strange movements. What are they doing????
Suddenly heard a girl's cry: "Maple, maple, maple~~~" There was no one in front or behind, who was calling him in that room? Is this guy going to take me there? Does he know who is calling?
I followed Maple into a room where people were playing games. An instructor said, "Divide into two groups of five, have each group send out a volunteer, and have them shout out a word that comes to mind to the volunteer from the other group. The volunteer from the other group does the same, continuously shouting out associated words. If you say something like 'I, uh, I...', you lose and your group has to switch people. The last group standing wins."
"Let's go and have some fun too." Maple pulled my hand to run in front of the mentally ill patients who were divided into two teams. What are they going to do? Is this idiot going to play a fool's game too? Ugh, is he having brain problems again? "Put away your bad thoughts, this game sounds simple but it's hard to do, you've never done it before, maybe they'll even win against you." What, what, what?! This guy dares to say I'm stupid, humph, looking down on people too much, I must make him lose miserably.
I said discontentedly: "I don't believe it, let's have a competition." Hey, some girl had better not forget that some guy has been trained, if you want to defeat him, you'll have to work hard!
"Maple, it's been a long time since you came, are you here to play games?" the instructor asked.
"En." Maple replied softly.
I and Maple split into two groups, with the two of us as leaders. Naturally, we went first. I shouted "oh" and Maple shouted "ah". We shouted for a moment, and our throats were dry. But how come that guy didn't make a single mistake? This is bad, this is bad. I have to think of something. Hehe, I stared at that guy with my eyes, hinting him to stop, but he didn't fall for it. I could only use my hand to pinch him. Hmm, why didn't he feel the pain? What was his body made of? Wasn't it supposed to hurt? I put in more effort, "ah" until my eardrums almost burst. It shouldn't be necessary to shout that loudly even if it hurts.
This guy is also cheating, he stepped on my foot with force, "ah" it hurts so much, I sat on the ground holding my foot, and that guy even dared to laugh at me and say: "Wife, you lost."
I stood up angrily and said, "Ran... Ling... Feng, you're dead meat." What the heck, you think you can just slip away with your oily feet? Just watch me catch you. That guy was chasing me like a madman, I don't know when we finally ran back home.
