Chapter Thirty-two: Malicious Framing
Yun Hai Fan turned around, only to see Xiang Zi picking up a paper cup with her head down, her eyebrows and eyes showing no abnormality, still smiling warmly: "The tea water is too hot, my hand is shaking."
An Su wouldn't have put such a small matter to heart, with a wave of his hand the people following behind him were about to pounce and tie up Yun Hai Fan, but was stopped by Yun Hai Fan: "I can walk myself."
Her eyes were calm and peaceful, but the aura at the bottom of her eyes was spreading unimpeded, with an air of "who dares to come forward, I'll beat who". An Su, who had been defeated by Yunhai Fan before, didn't dare to provoke her either. She would fight you to the death when she got impatient, just like Xiang Ke, but what's worse was that Xiang Ke would directly use force, while she would borrow a knife to kill someone and still smile with an innocent face, sparing your life being her mercy.
After weighing the pros and cons, An Su controlled his emotions, but his voice was still filled with a sense of emptiness: "Leave."
The flying class venue was close to the puppetry class, but Yunhai Fan rarely came. When she, the prime suspect, arrived at the crime scene, it was already crowded with people, all sorts of onlookers and gossipmongers gathered together, while she, the one who should be facing a trial, stood squeezed in a corner, like an irrelevant spectator.
It's also good this way.
Yun Hai Fan was watching leisurely, Lan Si Cheng and Ge Hui had already arrived. Ge Hui was pulling Yun Hai's arm, saying something to him with a serious expression, but it wasn't scolding, after all they were people who knew each other's bottom line. It's just that this matter was of great importance, no one dared to take it lightly and let it pass.
Lan Se's movements were shrouded in a sea of clouds, and it was unclear what he was doing - all that could be seen was that he wasn't standing. There were too many people, and even though they were disorderly and sparse, one could only catch glimpses of his faint shadow amidst the throngs of people.
It was unclear who loudly shouted "Yun Hai Fan has arrived", and in an instant, Yun Hai Fan was pushed to the forefront of public opinion. The originally bustling scene suddenly became as quiet as a puppet show frozen in ice a month ago, with only a group of people holding their breaths in anticipation, and no other sounds could be heard. She adjusted her clothes that had become disheveled from walking too quickly, and then slowly walked towards the center of the crowd. Her steps were steady, neither fast nor slow, as if she was simply taking a leisurely stroll along the banks of Kui Xing Lake, with her long robe rustling against the air, challenging the heavy atmosphere's tolerance, waiting for the moment when sparks would fly and everything would erupt.
She finally saw through Lance's actions.
He knelt on the ground, embracing Shu Ruo and looking at Yun Hai Fan with an unnatural gaze. Shu Ruo's long hair was disheveled, not only intentionally or unintentionally entwining around the third button of Lan Si Chengfeng's clothes. Her hand grasped Lan Si Cheng's collar, making him unable to let go, muttering to herself and saying something unknown. If it weren't for knowing beforehand that Shu Ruo was under a curse, it would have been a beautiful scene of a sleeping beauty.
It's best if there are some scattered petals, such as the gorgeous but scentless hawthorn, which sets off the beauty's skin as white as snow, delicate and pitiful, making one reluctant to let go.
Yun Hai Fan smiled coldly, her eyes calm and waveless, but the air around her was filled with a chilling aura. She spoke in a steady and clear voice:
"I'm here."
"Oh." Lance responded in a low voice, unsure of what to do with the object in his arms, and simply nodded slightly.
Lan's calm attitude left the onlookers momentarily bewildered: shouldn't Lan be furious and interrogate Yun, even if he was considering their teacher-student relationship, it would be more like Ge Hui questioning Xiang Ke. Wasn't dismissing Yun Hai Fan with just one word too easy?
"Yunhai Fan, why do you want to harm Shu Ruo!"
Yun Hai Fan raised his head to look at the location where the voice came from. The speaker was a thin boy who barely passed the school exam, had a mischievous heart but not enough courage to be naughty. The only thing that could make people remember him was probably writing a love letter to Shu Ruo as homework and handing it in, which was caught by Wen Zhan and posted publicly. Some sentences in the love letter were quite elegant, Yun Hai Fan took a few more glances and remembered his name. Later, during the school exam, he happened to be matched with him again.
"Qī Dōng." Yun Hai Fan called out his name, "I've always been puzzled by the love letters under the eaves, how they could be so elegant and flowing. Today I finally understand that deep emotions and smooth writing, combined with unparalleled imagination, can't help but make people admire!"
A light and clever sentence actually pinned the crime of "framing due to personal feelings" on Qi Dong, who looked at Yun Hai Fan, speechless for half a day, unable to come up with any rebuttal, and could only retreat in embarrassment. An Su stood out: "What you said doesn't make sense, Qi Dong just stated a fact, why should he avoid suspicion due to personal feelings?"
"Someone once taught me that everything must be based on evidence. Then, who told you that Shu Rou was cursed?" Yun Hai Fan asked a group of people with puzzled faces while picking at his fingernails, waiting for their response.
Since ancient times, curses have been forbidden techniques. Anyone who can explain the reason is someone who understands forbidden techniques. Even Ge Hui, who really understands it, wouldn't dare to speak out loud in public and get herself into trouble.
Since it can't be washed clean anyway, being able to drag out some time is also good.
"It's..." Everyone was tongue-tied, but their eyes all turned in one direction - An Su. Yun Hai Fan also followed the crowd with his own eyes, and a group of people's eerie gazes made An Su feel like he had goosebumps all over: "What are you all looking at me for?"
"They're watching, I'm just following to take a look."
"Ansu, didn't you say that Shu Ru was under a spell?" someone blurted out impatiently.
"Who said it was me?" Ansu's face turned red, "I just said maybe I was under a spell."
"Oh, just a possibility..." Yun Haiyan's speech was slow, but his tone became increasingly sharp. "So because of this possible curse, you've made me and Xiang Ke suspects in this inexplicable disaster? Although we're just potential suspects, we're undergoing a real trial. If it wasn't pointed out, would you directly convict us and drag us to the Luo Ye court? Using forbidden magic isn't a minor offense; at best, it's lifelong deprivation of magical rights, and at worst, it's being crushed by the eternal flames of the Shi Ling Mountain's destruction spell."
"How can you prove that she's not a witch?" An Su retorted, having been wrongly accused by Yun Hai Fan.
"Yes, I can't prove it. But -" she drew out her words, "what are you all doing gathered here? Why don't you go find someone who can prove what's going on with Shu Rou? What if she's contracted an illness, are you going to delay her treatment time? Or do you not have any sense of justice, and are just here to watch the excitement?"
"Cloud Sea Sail, you blood spout..."
"That's enough." Lance interrupted Ansu, "Come on, find two girls to take her to the school infirmary. No one is allowed to spread rumors until this matter is cleared up."
He glanced at Shu Ruo with a look of undisguised disgust in his eyes. As he bent down to see what was happening, he was caught by this woman and couldn't get rid of her. If it weren't for the fact that they were in public and he didn't want to lose face, he would have thrown her off him immediately.
He looked at Yun Haiyan again, who was still trimming his fingernails with a completely nonchalant expression, without the slightest reaction.
Lance shook his head and left without a word, leaving Yun Hai Fan who was sometimes sharp and sometimes careless behind. However, he didn't notice the cold smile that played on Yun Hai Fan's lips as he walked away.
