Chapter 8 Waiting for You to Take the Bait
Wen Zhan's face changed color, like a palette with several layers of paint, and in the end, it was unclear what color it was.
"How did she haunt him like this." He muttered under his breath, "How did you know?"
"It doesn't matter how I asked, Teacher Ge always said there wasn't any, so I could only prepare to come back and talk about it later. As a result, when I came out, I ran into Yun Haifeng, who had been sent by Teacher Ge to copy books. I thought her left hand was a bit strange at the time, and later I grabbed a blank book with no words on it that looked like a real book, thinking she had accidentally taken the paper for copying books. Now that I think about it, it's actually quite suspicious.
An Su didn't care about refining his language, saying whatever came to mind, "That must have been what she discovered when she was copying the book. Rather than saying Teacher Ge said there wasn't any, it's more like she didn't know. Yun Haifeng originally went to find Teacher Ge, but I stopped her on the way. At this point, she should already know what book it is. Even if Teacher Ge wanted the book, it wouldn't be of much use. Who knows, maybe he would just praise Yun Haifeng for her merit and give it to her."
Wen Xian nodded in agreement: "However, even if Yun Hai Fan is caught, it won't be of much use."
"It's hard to say, anyway she didn't learn anything from her puppetry. If she had learned the things in the book and practiced well, then magic would be difficult."
"Same here." Wen Zhan stroked his chin, which didn't have a single whisker, and fell silent.
"Why don't we hurry back?"
"It won't work." Wen Zhan vetoed An Su's suggestion, "Don't look at her not speaking much, in fact she doesn't take softness but takes toughness. Forcing it definitely won't do, the key is still to rely on deception."
A glint of sharp light flashed in his eyes, and the confident look made An Su feel a chill.
Inside the library.
Yun Hai Fan was writing with great enthusiasm when he suddenly felt a slight dimming of the light in front of him. He looked up to see Ge Hui, Wen Zhan and An Su standing before him. Ge Hui's smile seemed somewhat stiff as he dryly introduced: "Teacher Wen has something she wants to discuss with you."
Yun Hai stood up and politely said: "Teacher Wen."
She stood up and deliberately raised the dust on the edge of the table, and the floating dust flying in through the window was clearly visible. Wen Zhan slightly frowned, while An Su carelessly fanned twice. Ge Hui had already gone out and even closed the door behind her. When the dust finally settled down, Wen Zhan slowly spoke up: "Yun Hai Fan, what do you think after being here for a few days?"
Yunhai Fan's expression didn't change, his eyes gleaming with a distant light, unable to discern his thoughts: "What do you mean?"
Wen's face suddenly became stern, and he coughed twice. An Su hastily took over the conversation: "Teacher Wen is asking if you have any regrets?"
"I didn't do anything wrong, what's there to regret?" Yun Hai Fan knew their purpose and intentionally didn't take the bait.
"Do you want to go back to class?" asked Wen Zhan.
"I don't want to." Yun Hai Fan bluntly refused. "Going back would mean being a transfer student again, it's better to be free here."
"It doesn't matter." Wen Zhan thought he had grasped Yun Hai Fan's weakness and couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. "Punishment is just a means to help improve, since the goal has been achieved, the means are no longer important."
Yun Hai Fan glanced at him and said, "Teacher Wen might as well speak directly about what's on his mind."
"Is 'Nature's Magic' on you?" Ansu hastily spoke up, "If so, take it out."
"No." Yun Haiyan's expression was solemn and respectful, without a single crack.
This is really non-existent, even lies don't exist.
"Think it over carefully?" Wen Zhan suppressed his anger, "Maybe even if you got it, you wouldn't know, that book doesn't have a single word."
"No words... " Yun Hai Fan laughed, "This one..."
"About the one you hid in your sleeve yesterday!" An Su said lazily, "Take it out."
"You mean that book..." Yun Hai Fan nodded in response, "Of course it does."
"Bring it here quickly."
Yun Hai Fan walked towards a stack of books, a thick pile of books as tall as a person. She flipped through them one by one and before the exhibition opened, she pulled out a booklet filled with dense writing: "Here it is."
"Who are you kidding!" An Su snatched the book and threw it at Yun Hai Fan, "Are your eyes blind? This is called having no words?"
Yun Hai Fan lightly dodged An Su's attack: "Absolutely true, and the words on top were bestowed upon you."
"What's it got to do with me?"
"Look, this is actually a letter of apology, it's just that my handwriting is bigger, so I wrote more pages." Yun Hai Fan explained kindly, "Because yesterday, Teacher Xiang discovered it and thought I was going to take the paper from here, so she severely criticized me for this bad behavior of taking things without permission. She asked me to write a letter of apology on the paper I wanted to take, which is this one. I need to give it to Teacher Ge for inspection right away."
"Towards the teacher...... who is that?" Wen Zhan looked at An Su.
Ansu's face turned red as she hastily explained: "It was the new librarian teacher, yesterday when I got this scroll, he was indeed present."
Yunhai Fan looked at Ansu's embarrassment and thought that Wen Zhan also understood that the librarian didn't understand magic, so it wasn't surprising that he couldn't tell what book was wrong. Even if he wanted to make a big deal out of it, there was no reason to do so.
What a silent loss.
"Is it really this one?" Wen Zhan looked at An Su again, hoping for a negative answer.
An's heart was startled, and her fingers rubbing against the book pages became even more uncertain, so she hesitated and said: "Is... is it."
Wen Zhan could no longer conceal the anger on his face, and he turned to leave. Yun Hai Fan pretended to be respectful and presented the book to An Su: "If you want it, here."
An Su glanced at the book and glared at Yun Hai Fan before finally snatching the book away, rushing out to chase after Wen Zhan.
Yun Hai Fan watched her receding back, smiling with an ambiguous meaning.
Go ahead, after all, nothing is still nothing.
Ansu caught up with Wen Zhan, who was still in high spirits. Seeing the book in Ansu's hand, his tone suddenly changed: "What did you bring this broken thing back for?"
"Teacher Wen," An Su suppressed the dissatisfaction in his heart and persuaded with good words, "Even if a blank book is written with characters, it's still a blank book. As long as you understand the method of reading, what can these few broken characters do?"
An Su quickly flipped through the pages in front of Wen Zhan: "Teacher, look, it's fine that Yun Hai Fan only wrote a review, ninety percent of the content is still blank. It's said that the beginning of a book is always an introduction and table of contents, we don't need to read them, as long as we understand the content afterwards."
"The problem is, I wanted to keep this book to give it as a gift, but now there's not even a cover, how can I give it!" Wen was still fuming, but his tone had softened somewhat. An Su didn't hesitate, tearing off the two pages where Yun Hai Fan had written his self-criticism: "Since even Teacher Wen can't see the words on the book, the person we're giving it to probably won't be able to either. It's been so long since this happened, it's normal for the cover to be damaged or lost. We just need to rebind the cover and show our sincerity."
