Chapter 94 Christmas Four
ps:
As I write this chapter, Jiuge suddenly thought of the person who accompanied him to gaze at the starry sky on a cold night many years ago. Friends, do you have such a person by your side?
Christmas Eve, Carnival Night.
Carnival, a wildly joyful gathering, revelry that lasts all night or stays outdoors all night.
Su Qi Ruo's eyes darted wildly, and several words kept repeating in her mind: "indulge", "all night", "outdoors". The word "outdoors" had already been satisfied, and "all night" was about to be fulfilled. So... the boss's wife's hinting words suddenly jumped into Su Qi Ruo's mind, "it's more convenient for doing things." This wasn't saying that the people who came here tonight were all after "indulge"?
Su Qi stood stupidly outside the door, not knowing whether to enter or not. If she entered, wouldn't that be equivalent to agreeing to indulge in carnal desires? What if Lu Ke had ulterior motives and she ended up losing big time? But if she didn't enter, what if Lu Ke didn't have any intentions of indulging in carnal desires, wouldn't she be judging him with a petty mind? Su Qi felt like she was in a dilemma.
Just as Su Qi Ruo was hesitating over the option of "entering or not entering" with a worried and confused expression, a pair of hands suddenly emerged from the thick fog and pulled her into the door with lightning speed.
But it was just to let Su Qi Ruo wait outside for a moment, and she didn't have to stand there for so long without coming in. Lu Ke had no choice but to pull Su Qi Ruo in with annoyance.
Su Qi Ruo vigilantly shook off Lu Ke's hand, carefully placing her hands in front of her chest, uneasily gazing at Lu Ke. However, Lu Ke didn't notice Su Qi Ruo at all; he had his back to her and was intently staring up at the sky.
Lu Ke didn't have any intention of being reckless, and Su Qi Ruo finally let out a sigh of relief. She also followed Lu Ke in raising her head to gaze upwards, and in an instant, Su Qi Ruo was stunned by the scene before her eyes.
Su Qi had no idea that there were so many stars in the sky, nor did she know that with the naked eye alone, one could discover that the sky was round. The stars surrounded her. She raised her hand to the sky, as if she herself was the master of the sky, and the twinkling constellations guarded her from all sides. The Milky Way stretched far and wide, like a thin silk scarf wrapped around the vast expanse of the universe. Among the stars, some shone brightly, while others were faint and thin, calling out to each other in response. Staring for a long time, one could really feel that the stars twinkled on and off.
"Look, what's that?" Su Qi said excitedly like a little kid. Her raised arm pointed towards the stars. It was faint and hard to notice. But upon closer inspection, one could discover a small star that kept moving.
The vast starry sky, that moving dim small star was like a grain of sand in the ocean, but Lu Ke could still accurately find it along Su Qi's pointing direction. And gently told her, "Satellite."
"Satellite?" Su Qi didn't seem to notice Lu Ke's gentle tone, and she gazed at the moving small star in a daze, asking uncertainly, "You say, are there really gods and demons in this world?"
Lu Ke followed the small star, wanting to mock Su Qi Ru's naivety. If there were no gods or demons in this world, what was she? However, Lu Ke ultimately held back. He chuckled lightly, having thought about such questions many years ago. "There are many unknown things in this world. You not understanding it, denying it, or escaping from it doesn't mean it doesn't exist." Lu Ke's warm smile gently radiated from his face full of vitality, spreading a reassuring power that was like a clear spring nourishing Su Qi Ru's parched heart. That warmth was like a desperate traveler encountering the god they believed in, filling their entire being with peace and happiness.
Su Qi Ruo never knew that Lu Ke was so warm, warm enough to make people want to lean on him. Su Qi Ruo realized she had fallen in love with Lu Ke, thinking the reason she fell for Lu Ke was because of his help when she was in a desperate situation and his companionship when she was lonely. Su Qi Ruo thought her love for Lu Ke was dependence, because dependence could also turn into love.
However, now Su Qi Ru feels that she has fallen in love with him, the real reason is that he is a warm and reassuring presence for her, this feeling is irreplaceable by anyone.
"That's right." Su Qi smiled, a faint smile hanging lightly on her face, creating an extraordinary beauty, one that had been tempered by the passage of time and the vicissitudes of life; it was a kind of transcendence that came from being unperturbed by the turmoil of the world, and instead, smiling lightly as she went along.
Lu Ke was bewildered, when did Su Qi Ruo's temperament change? The change was like the new green in the muddy water, making people cherish it and not dare to touch it. He suddenly wanted to ask himself, did he really understand Su Qi Ruo? Could he really fully grasp Su Qi Ruo? Himself... could he really escape from Su Qi Ruo?
What was I thinking! Lu Ke was startled by his own sudden thoughts, he turned his head in annoyance, and with a wave of his hand, the dense stars gradually dimmed and merged with the endless night. New stars slowly rose from the ground, shining with a soft green light in mid-air.
"Fireflies!" Su Qi cried out, regardless of her image, stretching out her trembling hands to try and touch the scattered lights around her.
Lu Ke was annoyed by Su Qi Ru's sudden and erratic behavior, and the strange feeling he had towards Su Qi Ru earlier must have been an illusion!
Su Qi Ruo didn't care about Lu Ke's current reaction, her attention was completely absorbed by the fireflies that appeared around her. Fireflies, there were actually real fireflies! Su Qi Ruo was like a little kid, happily chasing after each and every light that appeared beside her, she eagerly wanted to know if these things were really fireflies, and how they emitted light!
Su Qi Ruo clumsily chased after the fireflies around Lu Ke, and they seemed to be playing tricks on her, every time she was just a little bit away from catching them. Lu Ke looked at Su Qi Ruo's foolish behavior with a cold gaze, and couldn't help but think of stopping her. He casually raised his hand, and the fireflies fell into his palm one by one, as if they had received an order. In a short while, Lu Ke's palm was covered with a warm green layer.
"Don't move! Don't move!" Su Qi shouted hastily at Lu Ke, afraid that his slightest movement would scare away the fireflies.
Lu Ke didn't respond to Su Qi Ruo, standing quietly in place, waiting for Su Qi Ruo to cautiously approach. "Stretch out your hand." Lu Ke reluctantly spoke up.
"What's wrong?" Su Qi looked at him with a puzzled expression.
Lu Ke stared at Su Qi Ruo with a terrifying expression, as if to say "don't make me repeat myself". Su Qi Ruo reluctantly stretched out his hand, and in an instant, his reluctance disappeared without a trace. The firefly that was originally on Lu Ke's hand slowly flew towards him. Su Qi Ruo stared excitedly at the small light, watching as the mischievous glow flew obediently towards him. He thought to himself, "Could it be that it will land on my hand too?"
"Look! Look!" Su Qi's eyes sparkled as she gazed at the light that had landed in her palm, and she was so excited that she almost cried. "It's in my hand."
Lù Kě's fingers lightly touched the twinkling lights in mid-air. "Under the neon lights, humans have lost too much simple joy."
