Chapter Twelve: The Legacy of the Water God
"In the beginning of chaos, heaven and earth were formed. Three gods were born: Heaven, Earth, and Water. Heaven was formless, without intelligence, consciousness, sound or shadow, constantly changing and elusive, being the source of the world; Earth and Water gave birth to all things, which later multiplied infinitely, becoming countless gods."
"The Earth God observes the changes in the world and carries all things."
"Water God..."
The chanting voices echoing in the universe, from far and near, as if monks were praying and reciting sutras in a temple, solemn and majestic, making those who listened feel cleansed in body and mind, suddenly feeling an urge to kneel down.
Su Qi woke up in the midst of endless murmurs, only to find herself surrounded by a vast expanse of misty fog. "Who? Who's speaking?" Su Qi's crisp voice echoed through the fog, but instead of fading away, it brought back faint and indistinct echoes.
"Where is this?" Su Qi murmured to herself, but what made her feel strange was that she didn't have a feeling of fear, instead, she felt extremely at ease. It seemed like everything here belonged to her, including the water droplets that were forming mist, which also seemed to be welcoming Su Qi's arrival and lingering around her. As Su Qi moved forward, the chanting sound gradually became clearer, as if intentionally guiding Su Qi. Whenever she stopped, the chanting sound would immediately dissipate into the depths of the mist. "What's wrong with the Water God? Why can't I hear it clearly..." Was this also part of the inheritance? Su Qi steeled herself and continued to move forward, chasing after the source of the sound, until she came to a stop in front of a jade tablet.
"There's no way." Su Qi Ruo supported the jade pendant with a disappointed expression, but suddenly the jade pendant started to shake lightly, as if it was a stone thrown into the emerald waves, creating ripples. "What is this?" Su Qi Ruo reached out to touch it, and the originally hard jade pendant felt like a wall of water, her hand passing through it as if it were really water, with a warm and cool sensation on her skin, just like when she put her hand in the water. "Is this really a water wall?" Su Qi Ruo closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and walked forward, and when she opened her eyes again, she found herself facing an endless ocean, with the scorching sun shining on the blue sea surface, reflecting dazzling light that made it hard for her to open her eyes.
Su Qi Ruo raised her hand to block the scorching sun, lowering her head to avoid the piercing sunlight. However, when she saw what was below her feet, she retreated in terror, taking over a dozen steps back before stopping to ensure she was safe. Su Qi Ruo stared blankly at the azure sea beneath her feet, with waves gently lapping and sliding past her feet, even allowing her to clearly feel the water temperature. How did she end up standing on the surface of the ocean? Su Qi Ruo looked around in confusion, seeing only a boundless expanse of sea and sky meeting in the distance, with nothing but blue hues filling the space between heaven and earth, without a single speck of impurity.
The originally obscure chanting voice suddenly became clear, echoing one word at a time in the vast blue sky and earth. Su Qi finally heard the chanting about the Water God: "Water God, nourishing all things, all living beings obey..." The originally low and solemn chanting voice suddenly rose high and mighty, like war drums thundering and shaking the air, "All living beings obey! All living beings obey!" The Water God's chanting pierced through heaven and earth, and the sea surface also boiled up with the thunderous chanting. The waves surged and foamed like a giant dragon rushing to the sky, carrying an atmosphere of destroying the heavens and earth. Dark clouds pressed down from above, covering the sky and sun, and the blue sky turned black in an instant, as if trying to suppress this rebellious power. Black clouds quickly gathered and swirled, diving towards the turbulent waves, "Rumble..." Even heaven and earth trembled.
Su Qi was stunned by the sudden scene, standing stiffly in place to receive the baptism of the extraordinary phenomenon. Where is the sky? Where is the sea? Su Qi couldn't tell, only feeling tiny like seaweed in the waves, unable to see even with her eyes open. The thunderous chanting didn't stop, and as the struggle between the sea and sky grew more intense, Su Qi unconsciously joined in, "All living beings submit, all living beings submit..."
"Su Qi'er! Su Qi'er! Su Qi'er!"
"Ah!" Su Qi Ruo suddenly opened her eyes, the captivating chanting voice seemed to still be surrounding her ears, lingering on for a long time, until Lu Ke tightly grasped her shoulders and shook her for a while, before Su Qi Ruo finally woke up from her dream.
"What's wrong with you?" The words that were supposed to be concerned were spoken by Lu Ke, but they carried a few hints of coldness, more like an interrogation.
Su Qi looked around at Lu Ke and Xi Ruiwen standing on either side of her, blinking hard to make sure she was back in reality. "Where is this?"
She Ruiwen stared at Su Qi in surprise and said quickly, "This is your home!"
"Is my house...?" Su Qi Ruo thought carefully for a long time before suddenly remembering the cultural relics, and wailed, "My home! You two haven't destroyed it, have you?"
"That's enough!" Lu Ke completely lost his patience, "Do you know how long you've been unconscious?"
"How long?" Su Qi asked in response to Lu Ke's question.
She Ruiwen leaned over and whispered, "One day."
"A whole day? No way?" Su Qi couldn't believe that she had actually fainted for a whole day, was her physical condition really that bad?
"But," said Shen Ruiwen, propping up his cheek with one hand and scrutinizing Su Qi as if sizing him up, "you kept muttering something when you were unconscious. Unfortunately, no matter what method I used, I couldn't make out what it was - it sounded like an incantation. Could it be the legacy of the Water God?"
Was it really that easy to see through? Su Qi's words were immediately lost, and the dead snake's intuition was too accurate. Could this have been guessed? But if it was indeed a part of the inheritance, why did I only feel shocked and nothing else? What exactly was passed down?
Even if Su Qi didn't say anything, Lu Ke and She Ruiwen would have guessed the answer. Especially Lu Ke, who saw the seriousness in Su Qi's eyes. If the previous Su Qi was a clear and shallow stream, then the current Su Qi was like a river with unseen depths. Should he destroy her now? But he had fallen under her Soul Binding Curse, and if he acted rashly without knowing its depth, he would be the one to perish, possibly even losing his life. However, if he let her continue to develop, would he still have a chance to gain freedom? But with Su Qi's personality, if she knew how to undo the curse, she wouldn't keep it from him. Lu Ke thought this far and his serious expression gradually disappeared, replaced by a knowing smile. On the day Su Qi undoes the Soul Binding Curse, he would definitely return the humiliation he suffered twofold!
Shi Ruwen's mind has always been on Lu Ke, and compared to the simple-minded Su Qi Ruo, Lu Ke is his biggest troublemaker. He dares to compete with Master Shi for prey, and Master Shi will swallow him whole! Su Qi Ruo's inherited power has grown stronger, and when Su Qi Ruo's inheritance fully awakens, Lu Ke will definitely be unable to hold back and reveal his true form. At that time, Master Shi can catch them all in one net. Shi Ruwen is secretly pleased with his own beautiful plan, and the golden light in his eyes also flashes with excitement.
