Encountering at Night (Two)
Wei Chi Hong did not get as angry as Qiao Yan had expected, but instead asked calmly: "Why did you go to the Misty Mountain Villa?"
"You also know about the Misty Mountain Villa? Why would you go there?" Qiao Yan asked back.
Wei Chi Hong's gaze swept across Qiao Yan's face, almost without any pause. "I am a person from this island, of course I know the Misty Fog Manor. As for why go there", he paused slightly, "I already said it earlier, to run past."
Qiao Yan looked around, the room was decorated in a simple style, spacious and clean, giving people a refreshing feeling. Through the European-style venetian blinds that had not been pulled up, you could see the outside was the sea, with fishing fires flickering on the water. This room was obviously carefully designed, and the super-large European-style bed she was sitting on was also very comfortable. "Is this... your room?" she asked.
"Uh-huh," replied Wei Chong in a low voice, "you should go now. I'll see you off."
"No need, I'll walk myself." Since everyone had already given the order to leave, Qiao Yan didn't dare ask anything else. She stood up and walked out, passing through the long corridor and down the stairs. She took a clear look around and saw that this was an old villa with a 135-degree angled design for the living room and bedroom, achieving good lighting and ventilation effects. The interior decoration was elegant and unique, with many pillars throughout the building carved from whole granite stones, exuding an ancient Roman style. As she walked out of the brightly lit building and turned back to look, she was surprised to find that the foundation of the old villa was shaped like a long triangle, resembling a cabin on the deck of a ship. Could it be that this was the famous "Boat House" on Chui Lang Island? She deliberately looked for it on the wall at the entrance and indeed saw the words "Chui Lang Island Historical Building - Boat House" engraved on a copper plate.
Qiao Yan purchased the book "To Zhoulao Island to see the old villa" which records that there are more than 40 historic buildings with plaques on Zhoulao Island, and the boat house is one of them. The old villa where Qiao Yan currently lives, Qiao's Mansion, is also one of the historic buildings.
Chui Wan Island is known as the "Museum of International Architecture". After the Opium War, Haihe became one of the first ports to open up to foreign trade, and Chui Wan Island also became a "foreign concession", with foreigners competing to occupy land and build villas on the island. In the 1920s and 1930s, many overseas Chinese returned to Haihe to invest and start businesses, and successively built many villas on Chui Wan Island. Many famous people were born on this island, and have a deep connection with this small island.
Qiao Yan was not very familiar with the road to Zhuolang Island, and she finally returned home after a lot of twists and turns. Along the way, she felt that someone was following her, but she didn't make a sound, just secretly concentrated on being vigilant, ready to respond to the person's actions at any time. It wasn't until she turned into the small path leading to her home that she stopped and sneered, "You've been following me for so long, aren't your legs sore? Do you want to come in and sit down, have a cup of coffee?"
As soon as the words fell, she heard footsteps, slowly moving closer to her, and in the quiet night, it sounded exceptionally clear. She turned around and saw Wei Chi Hong standing behind her, still wearing that black sportswear, standing upright under the moonlight, with a pair of eyes shining like bright stars, which made her unable to look straight at him.
However, Wei Chi didn't give Qiao Yan a chance to look him straight in the eye. He turned his head away and before Qiao Yan could speak, his low voice had already spread out into the night air, "Not bad, your vigilance has increased."
"Why are you following me?" Qiao Yan looked at him suspiciously.
"I'd like to see if the person who confused you will appear again." Wei Chi Hong said with a straight face, "But unfortunately, I haven't found anything unusual on this road. Since you've safely returned home, I can also leave now."
He turned and took two steps, then suddenly stopped in his tracks, turning his head to gaze towards the other end of the alley. "Do you live at the Qiao residence?" he asked Qiao Yan.
