Episode 3: Cold Sunlight

  The Third Chapter: Cold Sunlight

My name is Jing Yi, nice to meet you. Xiaoyue, remember my name, I'm Jing Yi.

  Jing Wei

  Cold moon, winter's moon!

Cold sun, the sun of cold winter!

Ye Xue's heart skipped a beat as she turned her head and looked at Han Yue in surprise, while Han Yue was walking towards Lai Huo Ling.

"Xue Er, what are you spacing out for? Come and help quickly!" Lai Huo Ling helped Han Yue put things down and shouted at Ye Xue.

Ye Xue smiled and looked at Han Yue with a curious gaze. Wouldn't it be such a coincidence?

The cold moon shines on the dormitory, a good environment. Single bed, bathroom, computer desk, closet, window... painting by the window!

In the painting, the sky is as blue as the void, waves rolling onto the shore, and above the golden sandy beach, a string of shell wind chimes are floating in the breeze! What is this? Han Yue was shocked and walked forward to touch the string of shell wind chimes, gazing intently, lost in thought as if she had lost her soul. After a while, she woke up from her daze, secretly laughing at herself for being useless. Seeing familiar things still couldn't escape sadness. Han Yue looked at this watercolor painting, and her heart was struck by an inexplicable sense of familiarity, leaving her entire body covered in goosebumps.

"Hey, Han Yue, doesn't it look like Brother's painting style?"

But his brother rarely painted watercolors.

Drawing rarely doesn't mean not drawing at all, why don't you ask?

Shut up and let me have some peace.

Han Yue stood there for a long time, until Lai Huo Ling asked her what was wrong.

"Can I sleep on the bed by the window?" Han Yue's back was still facing Ye Xue and Lai Huo Ling, her gaze remained on the painting, and the sadness in her eyes quickly returned to calmness. There were familiar things there, perhaps they could remind herself that she couldn't escape at any moment.

"Of course you can, as long as you like." Ye Xue smiled and walked away to gather her things.

Lai Huo Ling helped Han Yue make the bed, and after finishing, she jumped onto the bed and loudly declared: "From now on, we are super sworn sisters, the most dazzling group in school."

The cold moon has always been smiling, and a warm current surged into her heart. She turned around to tidy up things. Coming here might not be so bad after all.

Ye Xue sat beside him, gazing at Han Yue with some surprise. Her smile seemed easy to get close to, yet also seemed to keep people at a distance of a thousand miles.

In the afternoon, Lai Huo Ling took Han Yue into the classroom, while Ye Xue went to the library because she had no classes in the afternoon.

"Oh, new student has arrived, everyone welcome!" said the kind middle-aged female teacher with a smile as she walked up. "I'm the class counselor. Introduce yourself to everyone and tell us about your situation."

"Hello everyone, I'm Han Yue, the moon of a cold winter."

Everyone was watching her, waiting for what came next, but she stopped.

It seems too simple. A big star shouldn't be so restrained, is she nervous? But looking at Han Yue's calm and composed demeanor, it's hard to tell if she's stage fright.

Yeah, it's the girl Ling said yesterday. Han Dong's Yang. Han Dong's Moon. They should be siblings. I don't know if Han Yue will be scared when she sees herself. Jing started thinking about what expression Han Yue would have when she saw herself, and whether she would laugh in surprise and say that she and Han Yang look alike.

Is that so? The instructor's face seemed to have cooled down a bit. The classroom, which was noisy just now, suddenly fell silent and then began to whisper.

The counselor coughed a few times: "Han Yue has just returned from the UK and may not be used to it. I hope everyone can take care of each other and get along harmoniously. Han Yue doesn't know much about the class, so please take care of him, Jing Rui. Han Yue, you can sit with Jing Rui first, and if there's anything, you can find him."

The teacher's words caused a burst of sighs and various sounds of envy and disappointment.

A boy stood up in the midst of the commotion. He had a standing collar shirt, and his light brown hair extended to his neck. His wheat-colored skin emitted a warm glow under the sunlight. The boy's smile was warm, and when he smiled, the brilliant sunlight danced beside him, revealing a sparkling starlight in his eyes.

That smile is so familiar! Han Yue's pupils constricted. She shook her head and took a step back, then stared at the boy with an incredulous gaze, involuntarily taking slow steps forward, each one feeling exceptionally difficult.

How is this possible! Was everything that happened before just a nightmare? She muttered: "Brother."

Everyone was bewildered by Han Yue's behavior, how could she be so strange? The classroom grew noisier, but Han Yue couldn't hear anyone else's gossip. She finally made her way to Jing Rong's side, but couldn't say a word, didn't dare reach out and grab him, just stared at him, afraid that if she blinked, the person in front of her would disappear!

It wasn't until Jing Hui waved his hand and called out to Han Yue that he finally woke up! It wasn't his brother, it was indeed a dream, one that couldn't withstand any action and shattered.

I've had this scene in my dreams many times before, and when I woke up, it was all just an illusion. Han Yue gathered her shocked and delighted expression, covering up her disappointment and mockery, numbly walking over to sit down, her face calm, but her mind still a jumbled mess.

Cold moon. Just now Jing Yue called her that way. Not older brother, not calling Little Moon. Jing Yue is not older brother! A sharp pain hit my head.

"Hey, take a closer look, what's in front of you is just very similar to your brother, don't get it wrong."

Yeah, I know, it's just similar, but not brother.

Jing Ruo smiled at Han Yue, extending his hand: "I'm Jing Ruo, nice to meet you." Han Yue had only just gotten to know herself today, but he had known her for a long time already, they had only met yesterday.

Han Yue stretched out his hand and shook hands with Jing Rong. It really looks like, if it were in the past, with his mental state at that time, he would definitely hold onto Jing Rong tightly. There are indeed people who look so similar in this world, but why aren't they the same person? Han Yue couldn't help but keep looking at Jing Rong, this person really looks like his brother.

In the late afternoon, the sun gradually sets in the west. The sky is painted with the colorful afterglow of the sunset, and the afterglow falls on the small village, making it seem more quiet and gentle than usual.

The school is very big and beautiful, recently it has been especially busy since I just transferred here. Han Yue really wants to get familiar with this school, today she finally has time to calm down and take a good look at the scenery of the school.

The two sides are neat osmanthus, occasionally with a few strands of wind blowing over, the fragrance of the flowers is even stronger. The residual light sprinkles on the petals and reflects golden light, as if giving the osmanthus a thin layer of gold powder. Under the osmanthus are large patches of red clover, people say it's also lucky grass, if you find that rare four-leaf among many leaves, you'll get blessings. Han Yue didn't have the mood to look for luck, but was interested in listening to the cicadas chirping from time to time deep in the bamboo forest.

Distant cheers and shouts came faintly. The rare tranquility was suddenly disrupted, and the cold moon seemed somewhat displeased.

I remember the school map showing an open-air sports ground behind this bamboo forest. It seems that this is not a good place for a stroll anymore. However, since it's a sports ground, there should be basketball courts. Thinking of this, Han Yue's mood suddenly improved, and she also walked in that direction unintentionally.

Walked along a path near the bamboo forest towards the source of the sound, and from afar, it was indeed someone playing basketball. It's been a long time since I've seen anyone play basketball here, I wonder if the village-organized team is still around.

Han Yue wanted to walk closer to take a look, but a basketball came down from the sky. Han Yue stared at the basketball and was momentarily stunned, wanting to dodge but it was already too late.

The ball hit my hand and it hurts a bit. Han Yue patted the dust off her arm, furrowed her brow and looked towards the court. She was standing outside the court, just closer than the other girls, how could she be so unlucky to encounter such an unexpected accident of the ball flying out of bounds and hitting someone? Or was this intentional?

If it was intentional, make them apologize.

"Hmph, I think it's intentional, let's teach them a lesson!"
