Don't be angry anymore, okay?
"Is that so, Miel?" Hua Jingyan shamelessly wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Whatever you say, dear." I stiffened and let out a couple of awkward chuckles, feeling an overwhelming urge to bang my head against his chest.
"Oh, these two kids are so sweet!" Mom leaned on Dad's shoulder, gazing at me and Hua Jingyan with happiness.
If she walked behind me and Hua Jingyan and saw the two hands pinching each other, would she still think so?!
"Tonight, you all don't stay here anymore. Mei Ru's room is small, go back and live there." Mom said kindly.
"Mom!" I exclaimed. This son is not ashamed of his mother's ugliness, and the dog is not ashamed of its poor home either! What kind of soup did Hua Jingyan feed to mom?!
"It's okay, mom. I can sleep on the sofa. Home isn't about size, it's about warmth." Hua Jingyan smiled slightly and said, grabbing my hand from behind and holding it tightly.
Dad's green face had a hint of relief.
"How can that be. Now it's still chilly in the spring. Sleeping on the sofa will catch a cold." Mom's delicate face was full of worry.
"It's nothing. I'm a boy." Huajing Yan said with a smile.
Mom wanted to say something else, but Dad pushed and pulled Mom away.
"Alright, alright. There won't be many chances to stay at home in the future either. Just make do with sleeping tonight. You go and pack up."
Then, Dad turned around and said to me, "Mi Ru'er, take Xiaohua down for a stroll."
The residential area after the rain is quiet, with wet asphalt roads on both sides covered with green grass and sparkling dew drops all over the ground. Fresh flowers are in full bloom everywhere, adding a touch of vibrancy to the entire neighborhood. The bright lights emanating from each household are like the warm sunshine of spring, shining on people's faces, filling every corner with joyful voices and laughter.
Hua Jingyan followed me step by step, and on the way, the awkwardness filled our silence.
"Don't be angry, okay?" Hua Jingyan took a big step forward and appeared in front of me.
"I'm not angry." I turned around and walked into a cobblestone path, the orange streetlights illuminating the sparrow-tongued fences on both sides.
"Why does your face look like you've eaten gunpowder?" Hua Jingyan grasped my wrist.
"I don't have it." I turned around and shook him off.
"Alright, you said so. Can I ask you to turn down the volume a bit?" Hua Jingyan walked alongside me and whispered in my ear, "It's late at night, it's scary!"
I stopped in my tracks, turned my head and glared at him.
Hua Jingyan gazed at me with an impudent expression, I was so angry that I wanted to pluck a willow whip and beat him to death.
"Miyue'er, why are you looking at me with such hostility?" Huajingyan came over again with a shameless expression.
"I don't have it." I walked back. That annoying guy, never want to see him again!
"Then speak properly with me, can you?" Hua Jingyan's tall figure blocked my way.
"Am I not speaking properly with you?" I raised my head, being forced into a corner.
"You didn't speak properly." Hua Jingyan restrained her improper smile.
"How come I didn't speak properly?" I asked.
"Every one of your sentences is a question and an accusation. You look very tense, very agitated." Huajingyan's hand pressed on my shoulder along my arm, trying to calm me down.
"I don't." I tried to rid my tone of anger, lowering my head, unwilling to meet his scorching gaze that could penetrate into my heart again.
"You don't speak like this when you're talking to Mom and Dad." Hua Jing stretched out her finger and lifted up my chin.
