Chapter Thirty-Two
"Hmm." The man hummed softly, then lazily leaned back against the sofa's backrest. As expected, Cheng Yiran's action originated from his family tradition. "Do you think that just because you said one sentence, I would let Yiran continue to live with you?"
I suddenly have a strange feeling, why does this conversation seem like an interrogation of my future daughter-in-law?
Profuse sweating.
"So, that's why I'm asking you, how can we make him not move away." I still smiled lightly, as if wanting to mock the two foolish parents in front of me, but heaven knows, once I stepped into the Cheng family's gate, my whole body would involuntarily be on guard.
Before I could get an answer, the door was knocked open and in came Lin Yi, the nanny who had been serving at the Cheng's for a long time. On the surface, she seemed quite kind to me, but I knew it was because she didn't consider me as one of her own.
She nodded to me and then said respectfully to the man, "Sir, your phone call." The person in front stood up and walked out, and the door was closed again by Lin's aunt. In the large living room, only I and Mrs. Cheng were left. I had no interest or intention of starting a conversation, so I leaned back against the backrest, wanting to rest for a while.
These past few days have been too eventful, I haven't even been able to sleep soundly at night. First, Xiaoshi found me two days ago and invited me on a trip, then yesterday I was suddenly informed that the Cheng family had come to cause trouble, and last night I received a call from Ye Chenyi, so today I came to negotiate terms with the head of the Cheng household.
I guess it was Ye Chenyi who just called?
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but smile slightly.
Flashback
"Xiao Fei, Yiran called me today. He said he's moving soon and wants you to move in with me."
"Yi Ran said..."
"Xiao Fei, you don't want to, right?"
"Really." But it's just because I want to protect this rare family relationship, not that I don't want to live in your house.
"Xiao Fei, I'll go with you to find Mr. and Mrs. Cheng, but it's best if we don't go together."
"Alright."
"Xiao Fei... I will definitely help you..." His voice was faint and seemed like an illusion.
Memories have come to an end.
Mrs. Cheng is one of the few people I admire, in my opinion, she is much more capable than Mr. Cheng, with a deep mind and a calm temperament, if not for her existence, Cheng Xiang would absolutely not be able to manage the Cheng Qi Fu so well.
But in this case, I really dislike such people - Can't you just say something?
The air was filled with unease and danger, I don't know why I thought so, but my heart was eager for the door to open, even more eager for the person who came in to be that warm and gentle long-haired boy, suddenly missing his dark gray eyes and warm smile.
Alas.
In such a terrible environment, Ye Chenyi is really an angel.
So it seems that even God is taking care of me, an angel has descended - "Creak" the sound of the door opening came, I hadn't even had time to lift my head before I was enveloped in a warm hug, and then came the rapid-fire questioning: "Little Fei, are you okay? Are you alright? Didn't they bully you? Your face looks bad, were you mistreated?" My temples throbbed, unable to bear it, I pushed his hands away: "Please, Ye Chenyi, I'm fine."
His eyes had a moment of daze. I pushed away his hand suspended in mid-air. Just for a moment, he gently put my hand down again.
I haven't reacted yet.
"Mrs. Cheng, hello." He nodded slightly to Mrs. Cheng, which was a greeting. Then he sat down naturally on my left side. I stared at him blankly, and he still had a gentle smile on his face, one hand lightly holding mine, while chatting with the other two people.
I really thought I could leave it all to Ye Chenyi, but there was no sound from him for several minutes. Uh, what that man said earlier, let me think... It seemed like..."Let her kneel down for me then." Yeah, that's right... Let her kneel down for me... What?! Make me kneel down for that man?!
I suddenly opened my eyes wide and looked at Ye Chenyi, who also didn't look good. I was shocked, as it should be impossible for that man to be so obviously difficult with someone of Ye Chenyi's status. It felt like he had taken advantage of the fact that Ye Chenyi would agree no matter what. Would Ye Chenyi really agree? The conclusion I drew scared me, and my heart was pounding in the left corner, unable to stop.
He should know how important self-respect is to me.
