Chapter 2: The Ghost Shadow
The army man slowly opened his eyes, looking at the thing in front of him, and couldn't feel the swaying motion beneath him. It was only then that he realized he had already arrived at what was supposed to be their destination, but all he saw in front of him was some kind of thing.
The naval officer had suppressed his original restless emotions, carefully sizing up the person in front of him. The long hair covered his entire face, and his slender figure didn't look like he was cut out for the military at all. Moreover, his long, pale hands seemed more suited to playing the piano than holding a cold, icy gun. Had this guy gone crazy?!
The army had been asleep for a long time and slowly opened its somewhat numb eyes, only to see a dark mass in front of it. Its heart was immediately frightened to death, and a high-pitched female voice rang out throughout the room, "Ah, ghost! Help!" Then there was an endless, ear-piercing scream that shook the soldiers outside, who rushed in, "What's going on?"
"Get out!" The navy couldn't hold back his fiery temper, having spent over half a month in the forest, without taking a bath for over half a month. The stench on him was unbearable even to himself, and the mud in the forest had made him as black as coal. Now, being yelled at by this woman's loud voice made him even more irritable. This was what the captain called his reward, the result of his labor for over half a month.
The army heard such a furious voice and became even more flustered, he wouldn't be sent to some underworld by the old master, or was she robbed while sleeping, but after taking a closer look, he discovered that the dark thing in front of him was wearing a military uniform, and his heart finally calmed down.
The naval officer saw that the man was now awake and took a step closer, "Who are you?"
The army looked at the approaching black head with a strange expression, feeling somewhat surprised in his heart. This guy wouldn't be unaware of the situation, would he? If so, could she escape? "I don't know who I am either, I was just knocked unconscious and brought here for no reason. You're not going to sell me as a slave or something, are you?" The army intentionally showed fear, his body also moving backward until it finally stopped when it touched the wall.
The naval officer was so angry that his nose was about to twist, and he said, "We are a human trafficking group, you'd better stay here, otherwise I'll sell you to Africa and let you gnaw on sand." Then he stepped out of this oppressive place with a tiger's pace.
The army looked at the person leaving, with a slight curl of her lips. It turned out that there were indeed people dumber than her in this world. However, regardless of how dumb that person was, she had to think of a way to leave this place. She took a look around the room's furnishings - a table, a chair, and the bed she was sitting on. There was nothing else inside. This place was even more simple than her brothers' dormitory. But where exactly was this place? Outside, there were still soldiers standing guard. It seemed like running away was not an option. The army sighed on the bed, if this were at home, she could have sought help from her several brothers, and if all else failed, she could have used tears to attack. But who could she cry to here?
The naval officer rushed out of the house and went straight to the team leader's office, kicking open the door with one foot. With a loud "boom", the door, which had been kicked countless times before, finally fulfilled its mission and fell to the ground.
The team leader Zhang frowned and scolded loudly: "Haijun, are you tired of living? You kicked my door broken. I'll tell you to deduct the money for repairing the door from your salary. I don't believe that can't cure a bastard like you."
The navy was not intimidated by the loud shout, to know that in the military camp everyone has a good voice, as long as one call can stun people. The navy took off his hat and threw it on the team leader's desk, then shouted: "You still have the nerve to ask me for door money, don't you think about what you've done? Where is my reward?"
Zhang Tie's temper flared up, this little brat, how dare he be so insolent in front of him, it seems his skin is itching for a beating. "Hai Jun, you little scoundrel, you actually dare to address me as 'old man' in my face? Be careful or I'll send you to live with those pigs."
"Where is my reward?" The fearless naval officer charged forward.
Zhang Tie finally reacted, saying that he had his own difficulties with this reward, but he couldn't let the young man see it, or else his future days wouldn't be so comfortable. So, suppressing the guilt in his heart, he said loudly: "Haven't I already given you the reward? I even specifically instructed someone to deliver it to you! Didn't those little rascals listen to orders?"
The navy is excited, and he points at Zhang Tietou, "You still have the nerve to say reward, why did you get a woman for me? You think about what you want to do yourself, I don't care, but don't mess up my place."
"What are you talking about, kid? That's a female soldier I've arranged for you, but she hasn't received training yet. You'd better train her first. You should know that the soldiers trained by 'Living King Yama' are sought after by others." Zhang Tie handed over the high-ranking officer to Hai Yun, hoping he would get excited and accept the somewhat troublesome person.
The naval officer finally came to his senses, realizing that he was supposed to train with the long-haired woman. He didn't have time for this, and besides, female soldiers were trained in their own units, not with him. Was the team leader trying to set him up on a blind date under orders from his father? He just couldn't understand why they kept pushing women at him. Had he somehow provoked someone?
