Chapter 31 Little Guy
As soon as I returned to the dormitory, I saw Xia Ye. She was a new roommate who had just moved in a few days ago. She was fiddling with something on the balcony. As she walked over to take a look, it turned out to be two small things that looked like mice.
"This is a hamster." Xia Ye explained, "It's different from mice, it's a pet. I saw it on my way home at noon today and thought it was too cute, so I bought it. As a result, when I got home, my parents didn't allow me to keep it. I couldn't bear to abandon it, so I brought it to the dorm."
Xiaochan loves small animals, especially fluffy ones like cats and dogs, but she never had the chance to raise one. Now seeing these two hamsters on a summer night, she finds them adorable and can't help but pick them up for a closer look.
The little guy is really silly and cute, seeing food makes him forget his own surname, holding the food with both front paws and eating big mouthfuls, extremely adorable.
"Ah, what are you doing?! How can you have a mouse in the dorm?!" At this time, Lin Ke also came back and saw the two of them playing something, so she went over to take a look. Then she couldn't help but shriek. Lin Ke had always been terrified of mice, and now seeing the two of them still playing with it, she suddenly felt chills down her spine.
"Lin Ke, this is a pet, its name is Hamster not Mouse." Xia Ye hastily explained, because she still wanted to secretly raise it in the dormitory. If Lin Ke didn't cooperate, then if the teacher found out later, it would be bad.
"It's all the same! It's obviously a mouse! Where did you get it from on a summer night? Hurry up and put it back, putting such a thing in the dormitory won't let people sleep!" Lin really disliked mice, her family had a lot of mice since she was young, and she was afraid to death whenever she saw one.
"But it's too late now, where can I take it...?" Xia Ye was in a dilemma, and she didn't understand why Lin Ke disliked hamsters so much, they were obviously so cute.
"That's your problem, if you can't handle it just get rid of it, it's too disgusting! Lin Ke really got goosebumps all over her body, that little thing was obviously just a mouse that hadn't grown up yet. How could they let it stay in the dorm, when it grows up with sharp teeth won't it bite everything in the dorm?"
On a summer night, she was so anxious that her eyes were burning hot. She really liked hamsters very much. Although they looked so cute, how could she bear to lose them if they were really gone?
Xiao Chan saw Xia Ye's red eyes and Lin Ke's unyielding expression, thought for a moment and said "Lin Ke, this hamster is different from mice, now it can't even get out of the cage, you..."
"No way, no way! The school clearly states that we can't raise any animals. If you guys do, I'll tell the teacher!" Lin Ke couldn't tolerate it at all.
Xiaocui sighed, since someone disagreed, there was no way. After all, the dormitory wasn't their own home, they had to consider others' feelings, so she said to Xia Ye "Then you take it back tomorrow, keeping it in the dorm is not a good idea."
Xia Ye could only nod slightly, but her eyes remained red-rimmed all along.
Then Xiaochan also persuaded Lin Ke, and let the hamster stay under the balcony for one night, and take it away the next day. Lin Ke initially disagreed, but couldn't withstand the persuasion of the two people, and had to agree.
Xiaochan received a text message from Rongying when she was about to sleep, saying that there was an urgent matter and he had to go out to study for a while tomorrow. He asked her to contact him in time if anything happened, so Xiaochan hurriedly agreed to let Rongying feel at ease with his studies.
The next day after school, Xia Ye left with her hamster in tears. Xiao Chan saw her sad look and asked "Why are you so heartbroken?"
"My parents didn't let me raise hamsters, and now the dorm doesn't allow it either... I can only give them to others... I couldn't bear to abandon them, if hamsters leave human care, they will definitely die..." Xia Ye said.
Xiao Chuan only then realized why she had been red-eyed since last night, it turned out that she couldn't bear to part with the hamsters. It's true, letting these two lovely little things become homeless is indeed quite cruel.
"Well, you can take it away and sell it then. Let the buyer take care of it properly." Actually, Xiaocui also wanted to keep it, but she didn't have the conditions either. Her family wouldn't allow her to raise something like this, or else her grandparents would step on it and kill it at once.
Then Xiaochan accompanied Xiaye to the side of the road for a long time, but no one was willing to buy it. Some people also felt uneasy buying from two students, and if they needed it, they would naturally go to a pet store. In the end, when it was almost evening, the two could only return in disappointment. Xiaye had no choice but to open the hamster cage and release the two little guys.
Once they are out of this cage, they will be free, and whether they live or die in the future depends on their own destiny.
The result was unexpected. The two little hamsters thought the owner had just let them out for a stroll and were wandering around near their cage, refusing to go far away.
There was also one that had wandered around for a while and didn't want to wander anymore, smelling the smell and struggling to climb into the basket. On summer nights, they were ruthlessly driven out again. This time she picked up the basket, and the two of them stood up looking at the two little guys under their feet.
The little hamsters sniffed here and there, crawled here and there, but finally returned to the starting point. Unfortunately, only the familiar smell of the cage remained, but their home was gone. In an instant, the two little hamsters showed a terrified expression, frantically running around in circles, surrounding the place where the cage was placed. Finally, perhaps realizing that their home was gone, they hid beside Xiaoyan's feet. Small animals also have a sense of self-protection; they know it's not safe to be in bright places, so they hide in darker places, making it harder for predators to see and eat them.
Xiaochan saw that the two small animals had fearful and uneasy expressions, her eyes were also a little hot. In fact, animals are just like humans, they all want to have a stable home. Now that their home is gone, they will be afraid and uneasy too.
At that moment, she thought of when her brother was born and the time she was despised by her family. Those days were the hardest for her to endure. The home she once had no longer belonged to her, and she felt like a temporary guest who could be thrown away at any time. So at that time, she didn't dare cry or make a fuss, but could only helplessly accept everything in front of her, anxiously and carefully walking around the house because she was afraid that her family would suddenly abandon her. At that time, she would be like a beggar on the street, with no home to return to.
"On a summer night, I'll take these two hamsters back to raise them." Xiaochan suddenly said, perhaps it was the pity in her heart, or perhaps it was the unease revealed in the little hamster's eyes that resonated with her, anyway she didn't want to let these two little guys be homeless."
"Really? Xiaochan, are you really willing to raise it? That's great, as long as someone is willing to raise it!" Xia Ye was also a kind-hearted person, she didn't want to abandon the hamster in the first place, but had no choice. Now that she heard Xiaochan say this, she immediately knew the hamster would be saved and burst into cheers and shouts of excitement.
Night is falling soon. Neon lights are gradually lit up on the streets, and there are fewer pedestrians on the street, maybe they all went home to have dinner or watch TV. The beggars by the road are sleeping here and there as usual, taking the four seas as their home. Everyone is interpreting their own life in their own way, whether they are happy or not, only the person themselves knows.
Chu Li didn't go home directly after school, but instead went to take care of some things. By the time he walked into the residential area, it was already 8 o'clock in the evening. The stairway light on the third floor seemed to be broken, and now only relied on the bright lights from the fourth and second floors to illuminate the way. Chu Li stopped halfway up the stairs with a long stride.
A thin figure was squatting at the entrance of his house, and there seemed to be something beside her. She only raised her head when she heard footsteps.
