Chapter 9: Fighting
When it was time to leave the hospital, Chu Li supported Xiaocui as she slowly walked out. Xiaocui's foot was actually fine now, as long as she didn't jump or anything, walking wasn't a problem. However, Chu Li was still worried and held her hand in case she suddenly slipped.
Xiaochan couldn't refuse and didn't say much. When they got on the bus, Chuli quickly grabbed a seat for her and let her sit down.
Because her foot was still unable to walk too fast, she returned home much later than usual. Wu Zhen again angrily scolded, never asking if her foot had healed or not. She only said that she deliberately slacked off for so long and wasted money going to the hospital.
Xiao Chan's heart was still extremely cold, remembering when her younger brother was not born yet, at that time if she had an expression that wasn't quite right, family members would all know about it, and even yawning could send her to the hospital. Nowadays, she really wanted to say a sentence, "In the past, I was also a precious one, how did everything change now?"
She didn't say another word, silently entering the kitchen to start washing vegetables and cooking. No matter what, life has to go on, complaining is just one day, happiness is also just one day, why not spend a happy day?
The grandma has gone back, and I don't know if she borrowed the money or not. However, Xiaochan doesn't care about these things, and from the bottom of her heart, she looks down on that little uncle-in-law of hers.
A grown man with hands and feet, can't even earn his own money, still asking his parents for loans every day. What can such a person do when they go out into society? Relying on others for everything, what's the difference between him and a parasite? Now that his grandmother is still around, what if one day she passes away, has he ever thought about how he'll manage then?
Forget it, I'm just a clay Bodhisattva crossing the river myself, how can I take care of others? The meal is ready and Dad has also come back. In difficult times, Wu Zhen was scolded the most, but Dad was often silent.
"Is your foot all right?" Dad asked at dinner time.
Xiao Chan was somewhat moved, and her father actually still cared about her feet. She honestly said, "The doctor said that as long as I don't make any big movements, nothing will happen."
"Hmm, why are your clothes all so short? I'll get your mom to buy you two new ones another day," said Wu's dad.
"Where's the money to buy? We can't even afford to cook at home." As soon as Wu Zhen mentions money, she becomes anxious. She is currently unemployed and doesn't have that much money.
Then there was another quarrel between her parents. Xiaocui finished eating in silence, cleaned up the bowls and chopsticks, and went into her room. Her father's voice still came over.
"What do you know? Your own daughter goes out dressed like that, do you want me to lose face completely?" the father growled.
Xiaochan's heart sank straight down, it turned out that her father was only concerned about her for the sake of face, he just didn't want her to go out and bring shame to the family. Where did that close and intimate relationship from back then go? What's left now is all these dirty feelings. She really wants to grow up quickly, get into college quickly, and escape this suffocating environment.
After finishing the review, I saw that my phone was fully charged and sent a text message to Rongying. The phone rang immediately afterwards.
"Dead girl, how come she hasn't called me for so many days?!" Rong Ying was indeed angry.
"My phone is out of battery." Xiaochan pouted, answering the phone while carefully putting her foot on the bed. She didn't mention the sprained foot, if she did, he would probably make a big fuss about it.
Rong Ying's tone also softened a lot after hearing her say that, and the two chatted for a while longer, talking about nothing in particular. Couples in love find everything sweet, time flies quickly, and before they knew it, it was already 11 o'clock. Rong Ying didn't want to disturb her sleep, so he hung up the phone.
Of course, before hanging up the phone, he even viciously warned her not to flirt with other men. Xiaocui was so angry that she wanted to hit him on the head. It was a complete frame-up, when had she ever done such a thing?
The next day, Chu Li appeared at the entrance of the residential area on time. When Xiaocui saw him, she didn't have that initial rejection anymore and even quickened her pace to walk over.
"Do you no longer want your feet?!" Chu Li's face suddenly fell, as if she had committed some kind of heinous crime.
Xiaochan immediately stopped and stuck out her tongue at him, "Sorry sorry!"
Actually, she didn't owe him an apology, but subconsciously said sorry and even she herself didn't understand why. And Chu Li's expression softened a lot because of her words and actions.
Then the two of them walked to the bus station together, and it seemed that their relationship had changed slowly since they were hospitalized. But this is not bad either, having one more friend is better than having one more enemy.
As they walked, Chu Li suddenly handed her a bottle of milk. Xiaocui looked at the milk in his hand, hesitated for a moment, and then took it over.
Many times, many things she herself can't explain clearly. Chu Li Ming obviously doesn't like her, at least he's never said so and she can't feel it either. But why is he always so good to her? It was okay in the past, but now that he has helped her time and time again, how can she bear to refuse him again?
But what kind of relationship is this anyway? Xiaochan was drinking milk while entangling herself, after all she wasn't a love saint, in the end when she couldn't think it through she just stopped thinking about it.
Due to her recent close relationship with Chu Li, rumors have been circulating in the class that she and Chu Li are dating, saying that she can't stand loneliness, and just a week after Rong Yun left, she couldn't bear the loneliness anymore, and eloped.
Xiaochan didn't put these rumors in her heart, every day she did what she should do, very open-minded. And Chuli wouldn't care even more, he lived in his own world every day, completely unaffected by others' interference.
Just because the person involved doesn't care, it doesn't mean others don't either. Once rumors spread, they seem to become true. Sometimes people in the class can't help but look back, even if the two people behind them aren't doing anything, they still think they're suspicious.
The news finally reached Rong Ying's ears, and he was still studying on the other side, at least a few more days before he could return, but after hearing the news, he couldn't bear to wait for a moment and took a plane back directly.
Xiaochan and Chuli had just gotten off the bus when they saw Chuli standing not far away with an icy face. Before Xiaochan could react, Rongying came over and grabbed Chuli's collar, and without saying a word, punched him in the face.
Rong Ying was a high-ranking official's son, with power and influence at home, who had been trained in martial arts since childhood. However, Chu Li was not inferior and unexpectedly did not suffer at Rong Ying's hands. The two fought for a while, both showing off their skills, but Rong Ying was slightly worse off. Xiao Chan watched from the side, stunned for a moment, before rushing to stop them.
Anyway, in the end, Chu Li returned home alone, Xiao Cui walked ahead with a huff, and Rong Ying followed behind.
It should be Xiaochan who owes Rongying an explanation and apology, but now it's the other way around. Why? It's all because of Xiaochan's casual remark, "You're just like everyone else, doubting me?"
