Chapter 60: Translucent, on the verge of collapse!

Chapter 60: Half-Transparent, on the Verge of Collapse!

Along the marks on the pillar, we walked all the way without stopping, carefully walking for nearly half an hour before three forks suddenly appeared in front of us.

Everyone looked at each other in confusion, and it was strange to say that the marks disappeared here. After searching for a while, we found a messy character written on the wall in front of us, which should be a "wood" character, but we didn't know who left it.

"Where are you going?" Wang Yi asked.

Xian Xian calmly looked at the three roads, stroked his chin and thought for a moment before saying: "Go straight."

Pei Zina agreed after a brief discussion and decided to go straight ahead. Everyone had no objection, so they prepared to continue moving forward in a straight line.

I had just taken two steps when I suddenly felt a gaze on my right side, and subconsciously turned my head to look. Suddenly, I saw a figure turn around and walk away, but in the instant he turned his head, I found that face somewhat familiar, so without thinking, I chased after him.

"Fengfeng, where are you going!?" A flustered voice came from behind me, but I didn't turn my head or stop in my tracks as I continued to chase after him. He was getting closer and closer to me, his back appearing somewhat illusory at times, almost transparent, while at other times it seemed more solid. His arms hung loosely by his sides, although he appeared to be walking slowly, but for some reason, I couldn't catch up to him, which was really strange.

"Is that you, Da Bao?!" I shouted as I felt myself running faster and getting closer to the person. His body froze and he stopped in his tracks. The next second, he turned around and I finally got a clear look at his face. His face was deathly pale, his eyes were lifeless, dull and without any sparkle, completely devoid of blood color, on the verge of collapse!

“Crazy...” Da Bao slowly opened his mouth after a while, and muttered a cry. I immediately rushed over to grab his arms, but my hands suddenly passed through his body, only feeling the cold breath still lingering on my skin.

"You......" I looked at Da Bao in disbelief, a flash of worry crossing my mind, and asked tensely: "How did you end up here? What happened? Are you okay?"

Dabao shook his head, no longer with the liveliness of before. His expression was wooden, as if he had suffered a huge blow. Only when I looked closer did I notice that his body seemed to be trembling. Seeing this made me even more anxious - what on earth had Dabao encountered to be so devastated?

"Fengfeng, why are you running so fast? Did you find something?" Xianxian and the others came running over one after another. He panted a few mouthfuls of coarse air, and with one hand on my shoulder, asked.

I glanced at Da Bao and then looked around at Xian Xian and the others, seeing that they seemed to have not noticed Da Bao's appearance, so I forced a smile and said: "No... I..."

"You?" Xianxian looked at me with a suspicious face, furrowed her brow but didn't ask anything else.

"Feng Zi, what's going on?" Song Ah also pushed through the crowd and walked to my side, asking anxiously.

"I thought I saw someone here just now, but I must have been mistaken." As soon as I finished speaking, I turned my head to look at Da Bao. His expression was still dull and his eyes were dim, and his body had become slightly transparent. Seeing this, my heart suddenly skipped a beat, and a bad premonition rose up in my mind. I hastily raised my hand to grab onto Da Bao, but the hand that was lifted was caught by someone in mid-air. I was startled, and followed the hand to look at its owner. The next moment, I saw a pair of narrowed eyes, and then he lightly shook his head and said to his people, "Everyone take a break for a while." After finishing speaking, he looked at Pei Zi and asked, "And you guys?"

"We'll also take a break." Pei Zi nodded and said something to his men, then they all sat down, some even took out small stoves from their bags, and the group huddled together for warmth.

It's already autumn, and the weather is not hot anyway. Plus, it's even cooler in this underground palace that hasn't seen sunlight for thousands of years. Seeing they didn't notice me, I quietly pulled Da Bao once, and seeing that I had grasped something solid this time, I quickly pulled him to sit down by the wall.

Xian Xian sat beside me, naturally seeing my small movements, and his expression had changed from suspicion to a hint of a smile. I looked into his eyes, which were deep and unfathomable, and for a moment, I didn't know what to say. After a silence, I finally said, "Thank you."

If he didn't suggest taking a break, I really wouldn't know what to do. The way Da Bao is now makes it impossible for us to communicate properly. It's hard to say whether he can even fit into the bottle, and I also can't just drag him along with me everywhere. Not to mention his semi-transparent body might not be able to handle it, but even if I did drag him along, people would notice something was off about me, which would put Da Bao in even greater danger!

"Fengfeng, you're making me more and more curious!" Xianxian lazily leaned against the wall, smiling ambiguously as she said to me.

"Is it? I'm quite curious about you too." I smiled slightly, but was anxious in my heart.

After a moment of silence, Xianxian let out a sigh and said, "What are you planning to do?"

I was taken aback and looked at him with a feigned puzzled expression. His expression didn't change much, but I knew he had detected something unusual, and maybe even discovered Da Bao's true identity!

"I don't know either." I clenched my fists tightly, and Da Bao sat beside me with his hands around his legs and his head on his knees, not saying a word. If it were any other time, he would have already jumped up and started brainstorming ways to tease people, but now he just looked dull and stupid, and I really didn't know what to do.

"Xian Xian, his body is almost half transparent, sometimes I can touch him, sometimes I couldn't. I'm really afraid that he'll disappear if he's not careful!" I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and said: "I owe it to him, this time bringing him here was truly to help him, it's all my fault! If only I hadn't lost him back then, maybe he wouldn't have ended up like this! It's all my fault, all my fault!"

Now, I couldn't help but talk to Xianxian too. Since Xianxian and I were sitting relatively far apart, and I was speaking very softly, others shouldn't be able to hear us. I don't know if Xianxian will blame me for hiding the truth from him initially, but now I absolutely won't abandon Dabao!

"Hey, are you still carrying your glass bottle?" Xianxian nodded and asked in a low voice.

"En." I hastily nodded, and Xian Xian continued: "Time is running out, you communicate with him, it's best if he can go in himself, if not..."

"If not, then what? I looked at Xian Xian in confusion, only to see her flash a dazzling smile, revealing a mouthful of silver teeth, and winked mischievously as she said: "Anyway, except for you, we can't see him either.""

With Xian Xian's help, who knows if others will also find it difficult to discover the anomaly? I shook my head in dismay and sighed, feeling that this was all I could do. After glancing at Pei Zi and Song Ah, seeing they hadn't noticed me, I turned back to Da Bao, originally wanting to shake him awake, but didn't expect my hand to "pass through" again. I withdrew my hand and spoke in a low voice: "Da Bao, can you hear me?"

Dabao raised his head and looked at me, his eyes moved slightly, but he didn't say a word. I knew he had taken it in, so I continued: "You..." I tightly grasped the small glass bottle, wanting him to go back inside, but this was something that couldn't be said out loud right now!

I held back for a few seconds, looking at his pure and scattered eyes, I could only smile softly and say: "In a while, follow me closely, don't wander around, okay?"

Dabao nodded and continued to rest his head on his knee. I let out a helpless sigh, at which point Xian patted me on the shoulder in silent encouragement. I smiled at him and said, "I'll need your help covering for me later."

"Naturally." Xianxian smiled lazily and replied without hesitation.
