Chapter 11: Beating Ghosts

  Chapter Eleven: Beating Ghosts

But then I was stunned, Yang Xiufeng originally wanted to say something, but seeing all this in front of her, it was as if something exploded in her mind, she just didn't know what to say, even forgot to blush, I swear this is my most embarrassing moment, really lost face, hurriedly pulled up the horse pants with seven hands and eight feet, for a while didn't know who to face, whether it was Yang Xiufeng in front or the woman behind, just thinking of the woman made me feel cool on my back, suddenly turned around, just saw the woman laughing with her hand covering her mouth, laughing so hard she was bent over, only laughed until my face burned, finally said: "What are you laughing at, what's so funny?"

The woman was still smiling, but I had no choice, so I let out a hum and also just coldly glared at the woman with an evil gaze. Unbeknownst to me, Yang Xiufeng had already stood up and was tightly grabbing onto my clothes from behind, afraid that I would impulsively do something. But what should I be doing now? My heart truly didn't have any plan.

After a while, the woman's laughter still hadn't stopped, but I had already caught my breath and slowly started to back away with Yang Xiufeng. The farther we got, the safer we felt. But as we began to retreat, the woman suddenly stopped laughing, her eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she stared at us with a flickering gaze, seemingly thinking about something.

The mountain wind seemed to have grown stronger, causing the lanterns at the entrance to sway constantly, and the light flickered unsteadily, making the woman's face appear even more unpredictable. My heart grew increasingly tense, although I was retreating, but that sense of safety couldn't be found anywhere. Yang Xiufeng's hand had already dug into my flesh, but I didn't feel much pain. My heart was racing wildly because as we retreated, the mansion seemed to be following us step by step. Although the woman didn't seem to move, and there were no visible changes in the mansion, we couldn't shake off the feeling that no matter how far we retreated, the distance between us remained unchanged.

"You seem to be very afraid of me?" The woman's face looked somewhat miserable, flickering in the dim light, exuding an inexplicable eeriness, her pale face with a greenish tint, but her lips were bright red, and there was a pair of eyes that shot out cold glows, as well as a somewhat floating figure, etc., it seemed like she didn't have a shadow.

Her face twitched, trying her best to suppress her emotions. She let out a cold hum, but felt that her voice was still trembling: "What am I afraid of you for? I'm very brave. If you dare come over, be careful or I'll hit you."

Saying some harsh words can always boost my confidence, but sometimes it will also provoke others. As soon as I said this, I regretted it, but I couldn't take it back. I could only stand up straight and pretend to be strong, but unfortunately, my legs were a bit uncooperative and kept shaking. I don't know if the woman saw through me, but she was provoked and hummed in discontent. She even raised her foot and walked towards me, with a sneer at the corner of her mouth: "I'd like to see how you hit me?"

The woman's footsteps were very light, without a sound, but each step was like a heavy hammer hitting me. As the woman got closer and closer, my pupils began to shrink, and I couldn't help but tremble with fear, even hearing the sound of my teeth chattering. The next moment, I dragged Yang Xiufeng, who was almost paralyzed, and turned around to run, pulling her along in a stumbling manner.

Blinking eyes have unknowingly strayed far, tree branches hanging on the body, tearing clothes and scratching skin, even if one is not careful underfoot, they will trip and fall to the ground. However, it's also getting up again, at this time, even if scratched, I don't feel any pain. The only thought in my mind is to escape far away because there are ghosts behind me. I've always been puzzled why books say that many people get lost by ghosts in desolate mountains and wild ridges. Isn't this an obvious thing?

I didn't know how far I had run in one breath, but I felt a tearing sensation in my chest, and the fire was about to burst out of my throat. Due to lack of oxygen, I even got dizzy for a moment. I should have run far enough, it's time to take a rest, I really couldn't run anymore. Finally, I stopped and took a few deep breaths, but still couldn't help looking back.

But this glance scared me to death, the woman's pale face was right in front of me, almost face to face. I could even feel the aura of the female ghost, a green light flowing on her face, and the mockery in her eyes. I couldn't escape no matter what, the female ghost easily made up for my half-day run, even though I was exhausted to death, it was all in vain.

At that moment, a chill ran up from my feet, and the burning sensation I had just felt was instantly replaced by a cool breeze. After running for half a day, the mansion was still more than 20 steps away. However, the woman walked towards me. This disparity made my heart sink to the bottom of the valley. What should I do? Should I cower in fear or scream loudly? I couldn't even think about it. Although I was terrified to death at that moment, the more afraid I became, the more I wanted to fight with all my might. That's always been my style. My heart racing, I suddenly cursed out loud: "Your grandma!"

The insults brought me a rush of adrenaline, I didn't think twice, just held onto one conviction, that was to take down the female ghost in front of me, either she dies or I live. Then, without regard for anything, I fiercely threw out a punch, the female ghost's face began to enlarge in my eyes, with an even thicker tone of mockery, and lightly spat out a sentence: "Your grandma's——"

Before the words were out, a fist had already slammed heavily into the female ghost's face. I felt that sense of contact, no different from fighting normally. The female ghost let out a startled cry and immediately flew backward, her face filled with incredulity. For a moment, she didn't react at all, but instead flew backwards, landing on the ground with a thud, letting out a muffled cry of pain.

I panted heavily, and from the moment I hit the female ghost, I suddenly felt solid ground under my feet. As long as I could hit the female ghost, what else was there to be afraid of? When people see ghosts, they should be most afraid that ghosts can bully them at will, but you can't do anything about it. Now that I can hit her, what's there to be afraid of? Whether or not I can beat her is another matter, at least I can fight back. As long as I can fight back, even if I lose, I can accept it calmly. If that's the case, then I'll just resign myself to my fate.

The female ghost slowly rose from the ground, or floated up, looking at me with a surprised and uncertain expression. How could this be? She had never seen anyone who could hit ghosts before. This little guy was really bold. The punch just now made the female ghost also take notice. If it came to close combat, women were ultimately no match for men, and the advantage of being a ghost would disappear.

"Hahaha——" After panting for a while, I couldn't help but burst into loud laughter, relaxing completely and releasing Yang Xiufeng. Panting heavily, I stared at the female ghost with a very spicy glint in her eyes: "I'm not afraid of you anymore, if you want to bully me then let's see whose fist is harder, if you can beat me to death then I'll admit it, but if you can't beat me to death then I'll beat you to death."

When I was a kid, I often fought with kids from our village and other villages. I never got away without being found by their parents and brought home. My parents said that since I was young, I had a fierce temper and would fight with others without regard for my own life. Even older kids were reduced to tears after fighting me. At the time, I thought this was something to be proud of. Although I've calmed down a lot now and don't get into trouble as much, once you develop a habit, it's really hard to change.

If I had no way to deal with the female ghost, I would be really terrified. But once I could handle her, I calmed down and there was nothing to fear. Or it can be said that I became arrogant at this time. Not only did I not feel afraid anymore, but also my inner fighting spirit began to stir up again, and a fierce light burst out of my eyes. I took step by step towards the female ghost, which made her suddenly startled, her face changed slightly, and she had an idea in mind. A ghost would not fight with humans, but use human fear to scare them. Fighting is just a matter of no technical content at all.

A green mist rose from the female ghost's face, and as the mist spread, she began to change. Fresh blood started flowing out of her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears. The bright red blood contrasted with her pale face, making one's heart skip a beat. I was also a little scared, but the more I feared, the louder I shouted, and I charged forward with all my might, swinging my fists recklessly.

The female ghost was shocked, but this didn't scare me off. She hurriedly floated out, not wanting to be hit by me again. After all, she wasn't used to being beaten up either. However, even with seven holes bleeding, I wasn't scared. The female ghost changed her approach and wiped her sleeve across her face. As the sleeve passed over, her face was like snow melting in spring breeze. Her features were like accumulated snow, and as they were illuminated by sunlight, they began to melt bit by bit. Her eyes and nose dissolved into water and flowed downwards.

"Ptoo!" I spat, feeling disgusted but not afraid. Not wanting to use my hands, I simply kicked out with one foot and sent the female ghost tumbling over, her face still in the process of reforming from its previous state of decay.

She got up from the ground, and the female ghost had returned to its original form. However, the anger in her eyes was even more intense. With a loud roar, she began to rot away, just like a corpse that had been gnawed by wild dogs for many years. Watching this scene, I took a step back, my heart racing with fear, and finally couldn't help but turn my head and retch: "Damn it's disgusting!"

I really wanted to vomit, but I couldn't throw up, only spitting out sour water. However, this made the female ghost so angry that she almost exploded her lungs. She let out a loud wail and pounced on me with her ghostly claws, as if we were going to perish together. I didn't back down either, and we both charged at each other. We tumbled and wrestled, the female ghost's movements were very agile, but I had enough strength. For a while, it was unclear who had the upper hand, but I managed to force the female ghost to retreat constantly. Anyway, even if she hit me, I didn't feel much pain, just a bit of coldness.

The female ghost kept retreating backwards, her pale face turned green with rage, and she looked utterly defeated. I had the upper hand, forcing her to dodge and retreat in all directions. Just then, a woman's voice suddenly let out a cold hum: "Enough!"
