Chapter 27 Midnight Call

  Chapter 27 Midnight Call

"Dong Zhiyu!" Huai Jin fell to the ground, whispering softly, hoping that the other party might wake up. Having received professional first aid training, she knew that in this situation, it was not advisable to rashly move the opponent.

However, there was no response at all. The dark alley was as quiet as a tomb, with only occasional distant barking of dogs reminding her that she was still in the world of humans.

Huai Jin felt his way up to her face and forehead, scalding hot, it turned out that she had already developed a high fever, coupled with fright, tension, sadness, and no food supplement, just barely holding on earlier, when alone, could no longer hold on, fainted.

If it was just a faint due to high fever and dehydration, timely treatment wouldn't be fatal. Huai Jin carefully stretched out her hand under her body, not daring to think too much, steadily lifted her up, trying to keep her body level, her light and slender physique wasn't very strenuous for Huai Jin, step by step walking towards the carriage.

Her face emerged in his mind, with furrowed brows, pale lips, tightly clenched teeth, and the sorrow and resentment that shone through her eyes. "Zhi Yu," Huai Jin called out again, but there was still no response. She quickened her pace, heading towards the alley entrance.

She carefully laid her down on the back seat, and Huai Jin quickly drove home, slowing down at every turn, afraid of bumping into the person who was unconscious in the back seat. Fortunately, it was already late at night, and there were no pedestrians on the road, so the journey was relatively smooth.

Driving slowly up a small slope, arrived at the foot of the building, stopped the car, and carefully carried Dong Zhiyu out. The maid, Liu Ma, had already come to open the door and saw Huan Jin carrying something from the car, her usually calm eyes showing a hint of anxiety.

Liu's mother quickly opened the two doors wide and went out to greet them, only to see that Hua Jin was holding a young woman in her arms. "Oh, whose daughter is this? What happened?"

Huaijin hastily walked into the house, the guest room was on the first floor, she hesitated for a moment, and then continued to carry her up to the second floor to her own bedroom. "Liu Ma, quickly call Dr. Ren's home and ask him to bring an emergency kit and come as soon as possible. The patient has a high fever and is weak, probably needs an IV drip." Huaijin instructed while hurrying upstairs without delay.

"Ah, ah!" Liu Ma responded while hurrying to the phone with quick steps, she could feel the rare worry and anxiety in Huaijin's emotions.

The bedroom had already been prepared by Liu's mother to be warm and cozy, she carefully placed Dong Zhiyu on the bed. In a while, Dr. Ren from Sheng Xin Hospital would come to examine her, so she had to tidy up before the doctor arrived. After taking off her coat, there was still a blood stain on her overalls, Hua Jin frowned, took off the coat and then gently began to remove the overalls. She was normally a cleanliness freak, especially about her bed, but at this moment, she couldn't care less.

The overalls had been removed, leaving only a sweater and white underpants. Huai Jin pulled the quilt over her and covered her tightly. At this time, there was a light knock at the door, and she quickly rolled up the bloody pants and put them away.

A voice came from outside the door: "Mrs. Liu said Dr. Ren will arrive in a moment."

  "Good." Huai Jin slightly relaxed.

Liu Ma was still standing at the door, hesitating as if she had something more to say. Huai Jin walked over and opened the door, "What's wrong, Liu Ma?"

"Master, I didn't know you weren't coming back for dinner tonight. I specially stewed some chicken soup and it's still hot. If you're hungry, I'll bring a bowl over to you, and there's also some ready-cooked rice."

Huaijin didn't feel like eating and didn't want to disappoint Liu Ma either, so she just said okay.

Soon, Mrs. Liu brought over a tray with two bowls of chicken soup, two bowls of rice, and a plate of stir-fried bok choy. "I prepared two portions, thinking that if the girl wakes up she can eat something too. If it gets cold later, I'll heat it up again."

"Thank you, Liu Ma, just put it there for now." Huaijin pointed to the small round table in the outer hall.

While they were talking, the doorbell rang. Huai Jin hurried downstairs and opened the door, "Doctor Ren, thank you for coming so late, the patient is in my bedroom."

"At your service, with a plan in mind." The doctor surnamed Ren didn't delay either and hastily followed Huai Jin to the second floor bedroom.

After the auscultation, the doctor put down the stethoscope. "It's okay for now, no problem with heart and lung function has been found, otherwise you would have to be transferred to the hospital. First, let's bring down the fever, I've brought penicillin and glucose, let's try an IV drip first."

As he spoke, he began to prepare and in a short while, two infusion bottles were already connected to Dong Zhiyu's arm.

"Normally, how long will it take to wake up?"

"Usually after the fever subsides, she'll wake up, don't worry, I'm keeping watch here."

  "Thanks for your trouble, doctor."

Two people sat at the table waiting, Liu Ma brought over a pot of hot tea and retreated again. At this time, the phone rang, Huai Jin furrowed her brow unknowingly, so late, who was calling home? There was a faint sense of foreboding.

Liu Ma downstairs answered the phone and quickly walked to the stairs, "Hua Shenmou, it's Ying Zuolong."

Kaijin quickly walked to the bedside and picked up the phone: "Ying Su Jun, this is Kaijin."

On the other end of the phone, he didn't know what was said, but only heard Huaijin pause for a moment before responding, "I'll go over right now."

Putting down the phone, Huai Jin told Ren Daifu: "There's an urgent matter in Hui Guo that requires my presence, if you need anything just call Liu Ma and I'll try to come back as soon as possible."

Ren Daifu stood up and said, "Don't worry, I will definitely go all out on this side."

Huaijin nodded and went downstairs. On the other side, Liu's mother stood at the kitchen door, "Drink a bowl of chicken soup before you go..."

She saw that there was only concern in her eyes, so she sat down for the time being. Liu Ma hurriedly brought over a bowl of hot water and watched her drink it all up, then handed her tea to rinse her mouth carefully. After doing these things, she said to Liu Ma again: "If Miss Dong wakes up, please take good care of her. If I don't come back tomorrow or make a phone call, just tell her that I was called away by Ying Zuo. If she's feeling better, you can let her go home."

"Alright, alright." Liu Ma felt a bit puzzled in her heart, tonight was indeed a bit strange.
