Chapter 30: Hypnosis (1)

  Chapter 30 Hypnosis

  Benan nodded without objection.

After the waiter had brought over a few cups of coffee, Dr. Lin's smile faded from his face as he pulled out pen and paper and began to ask: "In theory, regardless of whether it was due to injury or other reasons that you lost your memory, with the passage of time, there is a high probability that you will slowly regain your memories. Miss Bei, you can't remember anything before the age of eight, and up until now, more than ten years have passed. As for what the final outcome will be, I cannot give you any guarantees. Let's take a look at the situation first, and I will do my best to help you."

Listening to Dr. Lin's sincere words, Bei Nan smiled slightly: "No matter what the result is, I am mentally prepared."

  "Alright, let's officially begin."

  "Uh-huh."

Dr. Lin did not hypnotize Bei Nan directly, but instead began to ask about the memory fragments that had emerged in his mind, while Yuan Yiqin sat quietly beside him, sipping coffee and watching them.

"So, tell me about the things that have been appearing frequently in your mind or dreams recently, or the memories that you think are particularly vivid. And also tell me what you were doing before those fragments appeared, was there something specific that triggered those memories?" This was Dr. Lin's first question, which contained countless smaller questions, and he had already opened his pen cap, focusing intently on Bei Nan, ready to record every word she said next.

"Recently..." Benan lowered his head and thought for a moment before saying: "Every night, a black cat appears on the windowsill outside. Its eyes are golden in color, and its gaze is very gentle. The gaze feels familiar. From the first time I saw it, I would occasionally have dreams, and fragments would flash through my mind from time to time. I see a fluffy animal, which seems to be a black cat, but its eyes aren't golden."

"What else can you recall about the black cat? Every time that golden-eyed black cat appears on your windowsill, what does it do?" Dr. Lin scribbled in his notebook and asked.

"It seems like we were in a place full of rose flowers, and I was playing with the black cat." Bei Nan replied, pausing for a moment before continuing: "That golden-eyed black cat wouldn't do anything, if I didn't open the window it would just sleep on the windowsill, but if I opened the window and played with it, it would be very clingy and hug my arm tightly."

Dr. Lin pondered for a moment, then looked up at Bayan and said, "Perhaps, when you were young, you raised a black cat, and the little black cat that accidentally came to your windowsill stimulated your memory, causing you to see fragmented images of black cats."

As for Dr. Lin's conclusion, Benan did not deny it, maybe it was like that.

"Then tell me, where is the place with many rose flowers that you played with the black cat? What impression do you have of that place?" Dr. Lin continued to ask.

"It feels very vague, it should be in the yard, there is a 'flower' bed with black iron railings around it, behind the 'flower' bed is... a very large building, I don't know how to describe it, it's like a castle." Benan furrowed his brow and thought hard.

  "Is it at your home?"

Benan shook his head firmly: "It's not my home, everything in my home is strange to me, including my family."

Dr. Lin was silent for a few seconds before asking slowly, "Is there anything at home that makes you feel slightly familiar?" He took it one step further.

"No, it's very unfamiliar. My memories of the Bei family only started from when I was eight years old. Before that, if I saw something, I would feel a little familiar, but the Bei family didn't give me that feeling." Bei Nan said blankly, and there were even several times when she doubted whether she really belonged to the Bei family or not. When she thought about how the people in the Bei family treated her, she couldn't help but confirm this matter in her heart.

Dr. Lin nodded: "What else can you think of besides this?"

Bei Nan's gaze was fixed quietly on the air, and after Dr. Lin and Yuan Yiqin waited tensely for several dozen seconds, she slowly opened her mouth and said: "A very long staircase, below it is very dark, in the darkness there are wild beasts' cries coming out, and in the air there is also a bloody smell."

"Did you lock up a beast in the basement? Then did you see what kind of beast it was and who locked them up in the basement?"

"I don't know if that memory fragment was in the basement, I only saw in a dark room, a thing like a dog and also like a tiger being tied to a big iron pot, it was very painful, it was begging me for help, then that 'woman' killed it, a lot of blood, flowed a lot of blood, got my skirt all dirty." Benan seemed to be immersed in that scene, his whole body trembling with excitement.

Dr. Lin looked at Yuan Yiqin and immediately stretched out his hand to hold Bei Nan in his arms, saying softly, "Calm down."

Benan's consciousness was suddenly pulled back, she trembled slightly, gasping for breath, her expression still in a state of shock.

"Some of the scenes that appear in your mind may not be memories from your past, but rather a product of your own tense imagination. So don't get too excited, or it might affect your emotions. Alright, let's take a break for now." Dr. Lin said with a gentle smile, which eased Benan's heart considerably.

The next second she reacted and found herself in Yuan Yiqin's arms, she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and push him away, saying disdainfully: "Don't take advantage of me."

Yuan Yiqin's face was speechless, and he didn't even bother to talk nonsense with her. After a few seconds of silence, he asked, "Did you get a good look at that 'woman'?"

Bei Nan shook his head vaguely: "It feels very familiar, but I can't think of who it is."

"Have a sip of coffee, think about it later." Yuan Yiqin politely picked up the coffee and brought it to her lips, with the intention of feeding her himself.

Bei Nan furrowed his brow, took over the coffee in his hand, added a few sugar cubes and stirred before starting to drink.

Dr. Lin was just seriously looking at the fragments of memories that Benan had just recorded in his notebook.

He has already figured out where to start from in his heart.

After resting for a while, Bei Nan's emotions stabilized a lot after Yuan Yi Qin teased him a few times, and he rolled his eyes at him.

"Let's begin, next I will hypnotize you and see if you can recall more memories under hypnosis." Dr. Lin took out a small box, inside which was a blue crystal ball the size of a walnut, hanging from an iron chain, with golden glittering patterns within, like a beautiful galaxy shining brightly.

  Benan nodded.

"I'll focus on the situation in the basement, whether it's your real experience or just your imagination, don't be afraid, listen to my voice and tell me everything you see."

  "Uh-huh."

Bainan lay on the sofa, Dr. Lin stood beside him, and the blue crystal ball gently hung from his fingertips, swaying in Bainan's line of sight.
