Chapter 7: The Vengeful Spirit Underwater
"I won't let you guys hurt Xiao Xi." Benan steadied himself, his eyes unwavering with determination.
"Well then, let's try to leave here today?" Yuan Yiqin stepped forward with big strides, stretched out her hand to grab the doll from Bei Nanhuai's arms, and the two people started to quarrel.
"Please, don't hurt Xiao Xi, it won't do something like that." Bei Nan cried and begged as she saw the doll being snatched away by Yuan Yi Qin.
"If it's innocent, I'll return it to you intact." Looking at that panicked and fearful face, Yuan Yiqin felt a little unbearable in his heart. He knew the doll was very special to her, but he couldn't tolerate such tragic cases happening one after another.
He must investigate the matter thoroughly.
Taking advantage of the two people's stalemate, Bei Nan suddenly exerted himself and snatched the doll from Yuan Yiqin's hands. However, due to using too much force, his body leaned back, and with a 'splash', he fell into that murky swimming pool stained with fresh blood. The white figure was instantly submerged in the bloody water.
A faintly cold water mixed with a bloody smell instantly wrapped itself around her, Bei Nan struggled to swim up, but it seemed like something was pulling on her feet, the powerful force made her unable to move, and her body slowly being dragged down.
Yuan Yiqin recovered from the shock, threw the doll in his hand to a police officer beside him, and jumped into that deep water area without hesitation.
He felt a strong sense of resentment coming from under the water, and Benan was in danger.
The suffocating shortness of breath made Benan very uncomfortable, accidentally choking a few mouthfuls, and the oxygen slowly escaped from her lungs. She struggled to open her eyes, looking at the faintly visible water in the pool, she lowered her head, and met with a dark mass.
That was a person, with black hair floating eerily in the water, and a pale face twisted in resentment. The familiar face made Benan's back chill, she panicked and tried to swim up, but her feet were firmly grasped, in the chaos she was choked by several mouthfuls of water, and her strength was slowly drained away.
A faint light flashed before his eyes, and the force that bound him suddenly loosened, Bei Nan struggled to swim upwards.
The next second, Yuan Yiqin's figure appeared in her line of sight. He hugged her and threw a smooth blue stone at the evil spirit that was pouncing down on them, then he took her and swam upwards.
As soon as he emerged from the water's surface, fresh air entered his lungs and Benan felt much better. He lay by the pool, panting heavily.
Yuan Yiqin brought her up and then turned back into the deep water area.
That evil spirit has been trapped by the seal emitted from that blue jade stone.
Looking at the evil spirit with sleeves and eyes that were almost mad, Yuan Yiqin had a heart of mercy.
As he approached, the barrier pushed aside the pool water beside him and enveloped him.
"Shao Yiyaa." Yuan Yiqin stared tightly at the female ghost in front of him, filled with hatred and anger.
That's right, it was Shaoyiya's soul he had been searching for all along.
She has become a vengeful spirit, it seems she really did die an unnatural death after all.
"Tell me, who killed you?" Yuan Yiqin took a step forward and asked, his eyes fixed on her, several talismans already appearing in his hand, ready to deal with Shao Aiyue's possible sudden attack.
Shaoyi Ya's resentment was heavy, but she had just died yesterday. Even if her resentment was strong, her Taoist cultivation was low, and Yuan Yiqin's three-legged cat-like Taoist skills could still handle it with ease.
Shao Yiyayou showed a hideous grin on her pale face.
"Benan, kill her...kill her..." she muttered ominously.
Yuan Yiqin's face was solemn, and he asked in a low voice: "Did Xiao Xi kill you?"
Upon hearing this, the anger on Shao Yi Ya's face immediately turned into terror. She was afraid and suddenly, a white shadow flashed behind Yuan Yi Qin. She hastily turned around, excitedly colliding with the boundary, trying to rush out.
"Let me out, let me out, Little Xi has come, she wants to kill me, don't...don't..."
Shao Yiyaa wailed and wildly slammed into the barrier.
As soon as he sensed something, Yuan Yiqin turned around to look, but he didn't see anything clearly. There was only a white corner of clothing hiding in the murky water before his eyes.
When he turned his head again, Shao Yiyin was already gone. The boundary had been broken through a hole and she had escaped.
Yuan Yiqin's face was gloomy, with a hint of irritation in his eyes, and he finally put away the blue jade stone.
As soon as he landed, he saw Bei Nan and the police officer holding a doll arguing.
"The resentment is very heavy." Deputy Captain Pei Yun of the Second Criminal Investigation Brigade walked to Yuan Yiqin's side and handed him a towel. "There must be more than one ghost down there."
"One was Shao Yiyang who died last night, and the other... I'd rather not say, it feels like it shouldn't be Wang Anli." Yuan Yiqin said while wiping his hair.
His eyes were icy cold, and the other one was Xiao Xi.
"Benan!" He raised his eyes and shouted at someone in the distance, his tone inexplicably tinged with anger.
"I don't think Benan is harboring evil spirits, and you can also sense that there's not a hint of resentment in her." Pei Yun reminded him to pay attention to his tone.
The doll is problematic, but it doesn't mean that Benan, as the owner, has a problem. Even if they suspect her, the fact remains that she has an alibi for the incidents involving Shao Yiyang and Wang Anli, and there is no evidence to link her to these two events.
"Give Xiao Xi back to me!" Benan turned around with a furious face staring at her.
Yuan Yiqin suppressed the fire in his heart, took big strides to walk in front of her, lowered his head to look at her with a condescending attitude, and said with a hidden anger: "I hope you have nothing to do with these things, otherwise I won't let you off."
After he finished speaking, the police officer holding the doll hesitated for a moment before handing it over to him.
Yuan Yiqin returned the doll to Bei Nan.
The doll was lost and then found again. Bei Nan's face had long since changed from anger to joy, she tightly hugged the doll in her arms.
"Yuan Yi Qin, did you just see Shao Yi Ya?" Bei Nan composed his expression and looked up at Yuan Yi Qin with a cold gaze.
He raised an eyebrow, which meant she had also seen it.
"You wouldn't...?" He narrowed his eyes and stared at her, wondering if it was unintentional or if she had a sixth sense.
"Captain, deputy captain, come and take a look." A few police officers who were examining the body in the distance shouted towards them with unpleasant expressions.
Yuan Yiqin's face changed color, and he turned around with Pei Yunli.
Bei Nan stood still on the spot, and when he raised his eyes, he saw the swollen and blood-stained corpse in the distance, and couldn't help but feel a bad taste in his heart.
"What's going on?" Yuan Yiqin walked over and asked them.
"The deceased died from excessive blood loss, with both eyes gouged out."
Yuan Yiqin and Pei Yun's faces both changed color.
