Chapter 10 Its watching her

Chapter 10 He was staring at her

After the doll was brought back to headquarters, she had studied it and found that the doll's joints were flexible and could be twisted.

The doll was leaning against the pillow, and if Bayan moved a little, it might have fallen forward.

But... its head was turned sideways towards her.

It's unclear whether it was due to the lighting, but those blue eyes seemed different from what I saw during the day, and appeared even more profound.

Pei Yun couldn't help but feel a kind of illusion, as if the doll had a soul and was staring at him.

But no matter how calm and focused she felt, she couldn't sense any unusual aura, nor was there any spirit attached to the doll.

It's really puzzling, or is it just that I'm thinking too much? Pei Yun couldn't help but rub her temples and sigh. When she looked up again, the little head that was peeking out to look at her had already disappeared. Her face suddenly turned cold.

"What's with your gloomy and weird attitude?" Bei Nan had long noticed Pei Yun's gaze on her, but she didn't pay attention to it. After finishing reading her book, she raised her head and saw Pei Yun looking at her with a dark expression, his face looked very unpleasant.

"It's okay, I just thought of something." Pei Yun calmed down and forced a smile.

"I think you look better when you smile, this gloomy face is a bit scary, one glance and I can tell you're not married yet, are you unmarriageable?" Bei Nan closed his book, slightly stood up and put the book on the table.

Pei Yun took advantage of Bei Nan's momentary distraction to clearly see the doll lying on the inner pillow, its head facing forward, not in her direction.

"Speaking of 'yin' and yang, you're not much better either. You can be quiet to the point of being deadly, or violent to the point of being deadly, and even have a poisonous tongue. I'm older than you, after all. Saying that I won't be able to get married is really hurtful, although it's true." Pei Yun said helplessly, shrugging his shoulders.

"I'm just stating the facts, you need to accept them." Benan's mouth curved up in a faint smile, she didn't particularly dislike this woman, at least not as much as she disliked Yuan Yiqin. "I'm going to sleep, I sleep pretty soundly, if you can't sleep then do whatever you want." With that, she fluffed her pillow and lay down to sleep.

Pei Yun glanced at the doll sleeping beside Bei Nan, she turned off the light and only turned on the small bedside lamp, the dim yellow light only illuminated the bed where she was lying.

She picked up her phone and sent a message to Yuan Yiqin, telling him what had just happened.

It wasn't until much later, when the time had passed from nine to twelve, that the only sound coming from the bed next door was Benan's gentle breathing, and there were no other noises or movements.

Pei Yun casually picked up a comic book from the bedside table next to him, flipping through it listlessly until dawn broke, when the dormitory building, which had been quiet all night, slowly started to bustle with activity.

Bai Yun rubbed her temples, she was used to working late at night and didn't feel very sleepy for a whole night, just a bit bored.

Bennan, who was sleeping dazedly, turned over and subconsciously looked over to see the doll lying on her chest, its blue eyes staring at her with an unfathomable expression just like last night.

Pei Yun was certain that the doll had a problem, and the way it looked at her seemed to have hostility towards her. She didn't think this posture was a coincidence.

As Benan made another turn, the doll that was originally on her body was 'dazed' and hugged into the quilt.

The noise in the dormitory was getting louder and louder, it's already eight o'clock now, but Bei Nan was still sleeping. Pei Yun looked at Bei Nan who was sleeping so soundly and didn't know what to say.

Went to sleep at 8pm last night and still sleeping now.

She didn't know whether Benan's simple-mindedness allowed him to forget yesterday's murder case and sleep soundly, or if his mental endurance was just too strong.

  Isn't it... having mental illness?

Just as Pei Yun was lost in thought, Bei Nan slowly sat up with a dazed expression.

"I'm so hungry." She said this as soon as she opened her mouth, then got out of bed with a messy hair and went to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face.

  Breakfast is still noodles.

"Last night the cafeteria closed so late, you have a reason to eat like this, but it seems to be open all day, can't you go out to eat?" Pei Yun couldn't help but say, not that she was meddling in other people's business, just that such eating habits weren't good.

"Come on, come on, let's eat together. I've cooked a lot and there are also 'chicken' eggs." Bei Nan looked at Pei Yun with the steaming hot 'chicken' eggs in his hand, ignoring her previous words, and lazily smiled as he said this.

Pei Yun sighed and said nothing more, accepting Bei Nan's invitation to sit down at the table.

A bowl of noodles, an egg, a cup of milk, this kind of breakfast is actually not bad.

"I found you're very lazy." Pei Yun said with a light knock on the 'egg' in her hand.

She came over to supervise, but Bayan wasn't a prisoner, and the atmosphere between the two of them was as if she had just come over to play, inexplicably harmonious.

But Benan didn't have any hostility towards her either, and he simply didn't care that she was standing beside him keeping watch.

"I'm lazy and I won't let myself be taken advantage of." Bei Nan said with a comfortable expression.

Pei Yun did not deny that the table in the corner of the dormitory was piled with a lot of food, mostly ingredients. As long as there were those things, even if they didn't go out to eat, having only one pot in the dormitory could solve three meals a day.

The eldest sister of the prestigious Bai family, instead of going to those high-end restaurants, eats such simple food in her dormitory, which makes Pei Yun somewhat tongue-tied, she is indeed a very special person.

This morning, Bei Nan was in a 'dazed' state, the doll still quietly sat on the stool beside her. As for the doll's abnormal behavior earlier, Pei Yun didn't say anything about it, and she didn't notice any strange aura either. She didn't dare to act rashly, after all, what action to take next needed to be carefully considered upon returning home.

Just as they were finishing their meal, there was a gentle knock at the door. A man's voice came from outside: "Deputy Captain, I'm here to relieve you."

Benan paused for a moment while drinking cow's milk and then continued drinking cow's milk.

"Whether you're in class during the day or staying in your dorm, Officer Liu will be responsible for accompanying you. I'll take care of nights." Pei Yun said. "If you don't like Officer Liu, you can change to someone else at any time and place."

"It seems to be going well, why don't we let Yuan Yiqin come over and keep an eye on me?" Bei Nan put down his cup and a faintly discernible sly smile played on the corners of his mouth. "Anyway, since the deputy captain has already made his move, it's about time for this captain to do something too."

In fact, she just said that if Yuan Yiqin knew that she had asked him to come over and monitor her, he would probably be furious.

Bai Yun, the deputy captain, came over to supervise because there were only a few female police officers in the team. The person sent to monitor Bei Nan had to be strong enough, so Bai Yun was the most reliable choice.

Yuan Yiqin didn't even need to take on this surveillance task himself as the team leader, or else it would be a waste of his great talent.

"Alright, I'll pass on your message to him." Pei Yun smiled as she stood up. "Thanks for the breakfast, see you tonight then." After saying that, she turned around and left, exchanging a few words with Officer Liu outside the door before leaving.
