Chapter 12: Possession by an Evil Spirit

Chapter Twelve: Possession by a Dark Spirit

The room was pitch black, and the creaking sound made it even more terrifying. Although Liu and I were both uneasy at heart, we had to figure out what that thing was, or else letting it follow us would be even more dangerous.

I exchanged a glance with Captain Liu, gave each other some encouragement, and then we walked towards that room.

Captain Liu's police flashlight was small but its light was good. When he shone it into the room, we could see everything inside clearly.

All that can be seen is that the floor of the room is filled with weapons, all of which are cold weapons, with big knives being the most numerous, piled up inside the room, as high as a person.

Seeing these weapons, I was almost certain that this place was a hidden military cave, only I didn't know which hero had dug it out. Judging from the appearance, it seemed to be preparing for a comeback in the future.

However, looking at the rust on those weapons, I can tell that these things haven't been touched since they were put in here.

Although there are so many weapons here that surprise us, what's most important for us now is to find the guy who just hid.

But we shone our flashlights around in a circle, and there was no discovery at all. This made Captain Liu puzzled and confused - could it be that the thing had simply vanished into thin air?

  Cough! Cough!

Just as I was at a loss with Captain Liu, two strange laughter sounds suddenly rang out above our heads again.

The sound was right above our heads. Captain Liu's reaction was a bit faster than mine, and as soon as he heard the sound, he stretched out his hand to pull me back into the room while shining his flashlight upwards.

All we saw was a figure hanging upside down on the rooftop where we were just standing.

That figure was about the same height as an adult, but it's impossible for one person to be hanging upside down from the roof like that.

All I saw was that this person's limbs were tightly attached to the roof, and the whole person looked like a super-large gecko.

What's most terrifying is that this guy was stark naked, without a stitch of clothing, and the entire layer of human skin on his body had vanished, as if it had been flayed alive. His whole body was covered in bright red muscles, and blood water kept seeping out. A bloody head hung down low, with a pair of black-and-white, bulging eyes staring tightly at us.

This thing seems to be very afraid of light, Captain Liu's flashlight shone on it, and it immediately let out a string of strange cries, its body clinging to the top of the house and quickly crawling out of the room.

I and Captain Liu were scared by this thing for a moment, until it ran out. Then Captain Liu swallowed hard and asked me in a low voice: "What the hell is this thing?"

His voice was trembling with tension, and my situation wasn't much better. Although we had only met briefly earlier, I immediately recognized this guy as the thing that had been hiding in the city walls to spy on us. The aura of death surrounding him was so thick that it was clear he wasn't a living being, but I had no idea what he actually was.

I and Captain Liu stood in the room, that thing ran out, but the door was still coming from the sound of hehe, we knew that thing did not leave, but hiding at the door waiting for us.

Although the thing looks scary, it's not a good idea to hide here all the time. I spat on the ground in annoyance and took out my ebony sword, ready to go out and fight it to the death.

As soon as I was about to leave, Captain Liu beside me pulled me and leaned his head towards me, saying: "That thing is strange, when I shone my flashlight at it just now, it didn't have a shadow!"

After hearing Captain Liu's words, my heart skipped a beat. Upon careful thought, I realized that when the flashlight shone on that thing earlier, it didn't cast any shadow at all.

This thing is actually a ghost!

Thinking of this made me even more nervous, this was the first time I had dealt with a ghost since I was young, although I still remembered what my master had taught me, but in my heart I was still unsure.

I took two more steps towards the door and before I could get out, I heard a mournful cry, followed by a gust of cold wind blowing towards me.

I was blown by this gust of cold wind, my whole body chilled to the bone, and I couldn't even open my eyes. Regardless of anything, I grasped the ebony sword and hacked wildly in front of me, thinking that even if it were a ghost, it wouldn't dare resist my ebony sword.

But to my surprise, that gust of cold wind suddenly passed by, and when I opened my eyes, nothing appeared in front of me. The door outside echoed with two bursts of laughter, making a chill run down my spine from the bottom of my heart, and I vaguely felt that something was not quite right.

  Bang!

Just then, a faint sound came from behind me, and the light in front of me suddenly dimmed. The flashlight that had been shining on my face was suddenly directed at the ceiling.

I quickly turned my head, only to see Captain Liu looking bewildered, dropping the flashlight and knife in his hand to the ground, motionless, staring straight at me, with a faint smile on his face and an eerie grin spreading across his cheeks.

As soon as I saw Captain Liu's appearance, I felt that something was off. Especially with the flashlight now being thrown to the ground by him, its beam shone right on his face, making it look deathly pale and terrifying. The sinister smile on his face made me feel even more uneasy about the situation.

  "What's wrong with you?!"

I shouted loudly at Captain Liu, but he didn't react at all. Instead, he opened his mouth and chuckled twice, then suddenly spread his arms wide, opening his mouth even wider to reveal a row of white teeth, and pounced on me.

  Damn it!

Seeing Captain Liu like this, I knew he had already fallen for it and must have been possessed by a ghost.

Ghost possession is when a yin soul attaches itself to a living person, at which point the yin soul will control the possessed person to attack others.

I was too close to Captain Liu, and things happened so suddenly that there was no way to dodge. Just as he was about to pounce on me, I let out a loud cry, lifted my foot, and kicked him with all my might.

Fortunately, Captain Liu is now slow to react and didn't dodge this time. He was kicked by me and retreated several steps backwards. However, before I could catch my breath, I heard two strange "giggle" sounds coming from the doorway behind me.

Hearing this voice, I secretly cursed in my heart and forgot that there was still something outside, now it's considered to have bad luck.

I didn't have time to care about Captain Liu, who was kicked open by me, and quickly turned back, only to see a blood-soaked head poking out from the doorway, staring at me with a pair of round, bulging eyes.

  "Damn it!"

Having a possessed Captain Liu in the room is already enough trouble for me, if I were to put this thing in there, I'd be doomed.

I raised my hand and swung the ebony sword at that blood-soaked head, only to see it flash and disappear at the door.

I didn't dare to delay, so I quickly took out a few talismans from my pocket, spat on them, and stuck them on the door. Then I grabbed a handful of glutinous rice and scattered it at the door.

I don't know if these things can stop that skinless guy, but all I can do is this much, now waking up the possessed Captain Liu is the most urgent.

I had just finished with these things when I heard a loud roar from behind me, but this voice was completely unlike his, and it belonged to another person.

I didn't turn back, and with a flash of my body, I dodged Captain Liu's pounce, but now he was like a madman, immediately turning around to chase me again.

Captain Liu is now possessed by a yin soul, I must stick the talisman on his head and then use the soul-calling spell to summon out the yin soul from his body, but now he's chasing me like a madman, I don't have any chance to stick the talisman on his head.

My heart was secretly crying out in distress, as I paced around the room while constantly gazing towards the door. All I saw was that blood-soaked thing now crouching at the entrance, staring at us. However, the talisman I had stuck on the door and the glutinous rice scattered on the ground seemed to have some effect on it. The creature was crouched on the ground like a gecko, making strange noises, but didn't dare take another step forward.

Although I was chased by Captain Liu and was sweating profusely, seeing that guy not dare to come in still made me breathe a sigh of relief.

Who would have thought that in just a moment of catching one's breath, I felt my foot slip and then with a thud, I fell headfirst to the ground.

The room was full of weapons, and I accidentally stepped on the hilt of a sword, which fell over.

This fall made me dizzy and I didn't even have time to feel the pain, I just wanted to crawl up from the ground, but Captain Liu's footsteps had already reached my side, I knew I didn't have time to get up, so I used all my strength to make a sharp turn on the ground!

As soon as I rolled over, Captain Liu rushed over and pressed down on me in an instant.

This guy doesn't have his own consciousness at all now, his body is completely controlled by that dark soul. He fell down and opened his big mouth to bite my neck.

I looked at his big teeth and thought that if he bit my neck, I'd be done for. But now I didn't have anything on hand, so I just stretched out my left arm to block his mouth.

Captain Liu can't tell who's who anymore. As soon as I stretched out my left hand, he bit down on my wrist with a loud crunch.

He used a great deal of force, and suddenly I felt a sharp pain coming on, so painful that I gasped for breath, gritted my teeth.

As soon as his wrist was bitten, fresh blood flowed out. Although it hurt, I knew this was a rare good opportunity. I endured the pain, stretched my right hand into my pocket, pulled out a piece of talisman paper, took one out in front of me, drew out a soul-calming charm, shouted loudly, and pressed it onto Captain Liu's forehead with all my might.

All I heard was a "pa" sound, and the talisman paper suddenly stuck to Captain Liu's head. His eyes rolled back, staring at me with resentment, his body went limp, and then he fell onto mine.

Although Captain Liu had fallen on me, my left hand was still biting his mouth.

I stretched out my right hand to his mouth, forcing his mouth open with strength, then carefully lifted his body off mine and sat up.

I lifted my left hand and saw that the wrist had been bitten by Captain Liu, with blood and flesh blurred together, a piece of skin was bitten off, just dangling there, it hurt so much that I kept gasping for air.

Now I couldn't care less about treating my wound, thinking that it's more important to get the evil spirit out of Captain Liu's body first. But as soon as I moved, I heard another burst of eerie laughter coming from the doorway.

I suddenly turned my head to look, and saw that the skinless monster was now walking towards the door step by step, its eerie eyes staring straight at me.
