Chapter 50: Containing Heaven and Earth

  Chapter Fifty contains the universe

Huang Pizi heard me say that, and lifted his front paws to lightly cover his mouse mouth, making a smiling face. It wasn't until today that I realized that even animals can make such human-like movements. Unfortunately, beasts are just beasts, if the seductress were in front of me making this pose, I wouldn't be able to help but be enchanted by it. But seeing a yellow weasel with thieving eyebrows and mouse eyes making this face, all I feel is my stomach churning with nausea.

"What's wrong? Are you uncomfortable?" Seeing me covering my mouth and making a gagging gesture, Huang Pizi chirped with concern.

"It's nothing, maybe just a cold wind that chilled my stomach, it'll be fine in a few days." I forced the nausea back down my throat and casually said to the yellow-skinned one.

"Oh, look at you, such a big person and still can't take care of yourself. When we get back, I'll make you some soup to warm your stomach!" Huang Pizi said to me with a gentle and shy expression.

"We're almost there, let's speed up, don't keep the monks waiting too long!" I glared at this guy with a disgusting expression and felt like vomiting. Unconsciously, I slowed down my pace slightly, increasing the distance between us.

"Yes, it's almost there! Let's hurry up and get things done early." Huang Pizi said with a hint of something.

"Indeed! The sooner we arrive, the sooner things will be settled!" I muttered to myself as I gazed at Huang Pizi's retreating back. I have to say, if it weren't for my prior activation of the Eye Curse, I would have really fallen under Huang Pizi's illusionary technique. Who knows how it managed to escape from the demoness's pursuit? It seems we previously underestimated Huang Pizi's cunning and combat strength. If not for this opportunity to fight it head-on, my impression of them would likely have remained at just a yellow-skinned beast.

"We've arrived, they're guarding the den of Huang Pizi inside, go on in!" The demoness transformed from Huang Pizi said to me with a slight pout as we walked up to the entrance of the ruined temple standing amidst the cold wind at the mountain top.

"Go ahead, Master Shu, I'll catch my breath and come right away!" I stood at the entrance of that dilapidated temple, where even the signboard was gone, with both hands on my knees, panting.

"That's good, then I'll go in first." Huang Pizi thought he had won and slightly relaxed his guard, and upon hearing this, he shook his head and entered the dark temple.

"Master!" Just as Huang Pizi and I were shoulder to shoulder, I suddenly shouted out a sentence!

"What?" Huang Pizi indeed stopped in his tracks as I had expected!

"Send you on your way! Thunderfire talisman!" I suddenly slapped the two talismans in my hands onto Huang Pizi's back, and after a loud crackling sound, both of us retreated backward. Huang Pizi was severely injured, struck by the power released from the talismans. As for me, while retreating, I cast a Six Ding Protection Spell on myself, along with an Eye-Opening Spell. When dealing with such cunning creatures, I couldn't afford to let my guard down.

"Ah!" Huang Pizi was hit by two Thunderfire Talismans, his internal organs were already shattered. He turned his head and looked at me with a desperate gaze, let out a shrill scream, and then stumbled into the temple.

"Where is the beast escaping to?" I took a look at this yellow-skinned man, who didn't even seem alive, yet was still thinking of taking advantage of the situation to slip away. With a loud shout from his mouth, he stepped forward in hot pursuit.

The temple was pitch black, and I had just stepped in from the dazzling white snow. It took a while to get used to it. After slowly closing my eyes, I held two talismans in my hand and moved my feet slowly. I concentrated my attention on my ears, carefully listening for any movement inside the temple!

The mournful sound of the wind blew in from outside the temple gate, swirling and whispering softly in the small hall. In front of the Buddha statue, two tattered flags fluttered with a rustling sound in the cold wind. The mournful sound of the wind, the rustling sound of the flags, and my own footsteps, all mixed together. Apart from these, I surprisingly didn't hear any other sounds.

"Where did that dead weasel hide?" After a while, I slowly opened my eyes. I concentrated my attention on the pupils and scanned around in a somewhat gloomy broken temple. Although the Open Eye Curse couldn't make me see as clearly as daylight, it could still let me vaguely make out some of the arrangements and decorations inside the temple. After all, this curse's greatest function was only to dispel illusions and concealment. It didn't have the effect of a flashlight, I wasn't that skilled.

"Wooo..." I slowly made my way along the wall to the back of that dilapidated statue, when suddenly a faint sound of air flowing echoed in my ears.

"Click!" I took out the lighter, lit it with a single click, and started searching amidst the flames that were about one palm high. There was a sound of air flowing back, indicating that there was either a cellar or a hidden passage here. The temple didn't see any trace of the yellow-skinned thing, it's very likely that the thing had already passed through here and hid underground.

As expected, under the buttocks of the mountain god statue. I found a one-meter-square entrance that was square and regular. When I brought the lighter closer to take a look, I discovered that there were even brick steps below this entrance. And the statue in the temple must have been used to cover up this entrance on ordinary days. It's unknown who pushed the statue away to reveal the hole, but forgot to put the statue back in place to cover it up, which allowed those yellow-skinned people to make this their old nest.

"Offending, offending, it's not my intention, I'll just borrow the incense in front of you for a use!" I extinguished the lighter that had already heated up, felt my way to the censer in front of the mountain god statue, took down the remaining few wax candles on top, and then bowed my head to the plastic image.

After lighting a candle head of about two inches, I held the candle in one hand and pinched the talisman in the other, and carefully felt my way down along the stone steps at the entrance of the cave.

This is a mountain cave that widens inward, and the stone steps are built in a spiral shape along the inner wall. The cat crouches on the stone step, suddenly lowering its head to look down. I only feel that this place is like an endless pit, the deeper it goes, the more oppressive it becomes.

Taking a deep breath, I held the candle above my head and stepped into the depths of the cave, relying on the faint light. The stone steps hadn't been walked on for who knows how many years, with a thick layer of mud and gravel accumulated on top. With each step, the gravel and mud would roll down the outside of the stairs, making a rustling sound.

I walked in a spiral path for about a quarter of an hour, and I was finally able to stand upright with my feet firmly on the ground. At the end of the stone steps was a relatively open area, which was too small to be called a square, but larger than a normal cave. The key point was that the surrounding rock walls had been reinforced with steel and concrete. Above my head, several beams were laid across, supporting the mountain body, which was probably a measure to prevent landslides.

Judging from the surroundings, it seems that this place was built not too long ago. At most, it's just a few decades away from now. I calculated secretly in my heart, but my feet continued to move at a steady pace. In an unfamiliar environment, what you need to do is not to rush forward recklessly, but first and foremost, ensure that you keep moving non-stop. Because you don't know if there's something lurking in the dark, waiting to ambush you. The moment you stop your footsteps might be when they launch their attack. This is the experience taught by my master!

At last, I saw the several torches inserted obliquely on the mountain wall. In a dark environment, fire can bring us a sense of security and make us no longer bow to darkness. I walked quickly, picked up one of the arm-thick torches, and brought the candle flame over.

"Whoosh!" The torch emitted a burst of flame and then, as I had hoped, it began to burn steadily. I hastily blew out the candle in my hand and tucked it into the pocket of my down jacket. I didn't know how deep this cave was or where that yellow mongoose might be hiding - or dead. I had to use these light sources very sparingly. My mission was to find that mongoose and eliminate it once and for all.

"Entry Prohibited!" The torch could illuminate a range that was many times larger than candles. Soon I discovered a passageway, and at the entrance of the passageway there were two barred gates. On the gate, a sign was tied up, with four words written in white paint: " Entry Prohibited!" The white paint had become mottled, but I could still recognize these four characters. What I found strange in my heart was that this arrangement of words and our language habits seemed to be somewhat different, although I knew it meant prohibiting random entry!

I reached out and gently pulled the gate in front of me, "creak!" A rusty friction sound was emitted. The door wasn't locked, and I easily passed through it, stepping into the deep passageway behind it. On both sides of the passageway, every ten or so meters, a torch would be inserted. This also saved me a lot of trouble, as long as the torch in my hand was used up, I could replenish new torches to illuminate at any time.

The tunnel was about 2.5 meters high and about one meter wide, with iron shovel marks still visible on both sides from when the tunnel was dug. The ground was covered in dust, and a small trail of paw prints was clearly visible before my eyes. Looking at these paw prints, I knew I wasn't far from that yellow wolf. At least, the route I was tracking hadn't gone wrong. I believed that yellow wolf wouldn't be able to withstand my two Thunderfire Talismans. What I needed to do now was just find it and kill it! Or, burn it with fire!

The air in the cave wasn't circulating very well, and the further I went in, the more suffocated I felt. I don't know who was so bored back then that they would dig out a bunker-like underground structure on this mountain. I muttered to myself, wiping the sweat from my face with my hand, continuing to follow the footprints left behind by the yellow mouse.
