Chapter Twelve Corpse
I turned around and looked back, the feeling of being closely followed had dissipated a lot, it was not as intense as before, my heart that was on edge also relaxed a lot.
He picked up the iron lock on the chain, and there was no dust on it. If there were no rust spots on the lock and chain, I would have thought that they had just been replaced.
Suddenly, I caught a whiff of something strange. Although the entire basement was filled with the medicinal smell from upstairs, I still detected a peculiar odor amidst the medicine smell, but I couldn't quite place what it was.
The wooden door and the wall with a small gap, but if you don't look carefully, you will think that the door is sealed. I leaned in to see what was behind the door, but the gap was too small, only a few millimeters wide, and nothing could be seen. However, I am sure that the strange smell must have come from here.
I examined the iron lock in my hand for a while and found that the keyhole was similar to the one on the treasure box my parents used to store money. I rummaged through my pockets and pulled out an iron wire from my pants pocket. My parents always restricted me from spending money, saying things like "boys should be poor" and other outdated philosophies. But our family didn't have much money anyway, we were very poor. The little money they gave me couldn't keep up with my spending habits, so I had to rely on myself. I made an iron wire to study the treasure box where my parents stored their money, and after a few attempts, I managed to open it. I still remember the first time I saw the stack of cash inside, my eyes widened in amazement - it was the most money I had ever seen in my life.
I'm not a prodigal son, of course I'm also afraid that my parents will know, so each time I just take a little bit. With many times of opening treasure chests, my lock-picking skills have become more and more skilled. Looking at the iron key in front of me, I couldn't help but feel a nostalgic taste.
The hole of this iron lock is actually very easy to open, as long as you use the iron wire to reflect the pattern on the keyhole, you can easily open the iron lock.
Right away, I inserted the iron wire and opened the iron lock in just a few moves. I took a breath, put the iron wire into my pocket, and then pushed open the thick wooden door.
The thick wooden door was pulled outward, and when it opened, it made a "creaking" noise, the sound was not loud or soft, at least it wouldn't be heard upstairs.
As soon as I opened the door, I caught a whiff of an unbearable smell. It was so pungent that it made me close my eyes and cough twice. Rather than saying it smelled bad, it's more like it was impossible to smell. I waved my hand to try to fan away the odor, then opened my eyes again.
It's hard to imagine without seeing it, but when I saw it, I was shocked. In front of me were piles and piles of corpses emitting a foul odor, stacked up like small hills!!!
Looking at those corpses, I suddenly felt dizzy and extremely nauseous. This was my first thought, as soon as it occurred to me, I felt a surge in my stomach, my throat tightened, and I vomited, even the noodles from yesterday came out.
After vomiting for a while, there was nothing left in my stomach. I straightened up and looked at the many corpses in front of me, feeling very strange. Why were there so many corpses in the hospital? Even if they died on the operating table, they would be sent to a specialized institution for managing corpses.
At this time, the corpses of the other party here had already piled up into a small mountain, and there were at least twenty or thirty of them. Fortunately, the underground warehouse was large, if it were a small warehouse, they would have been piled up to the outside.
I walked around the pile of corpses, and the more I looked at it, the stranger I felt. This underground warehouse should be used to store medical equipment or hospital beds and bedding, why is it used to store these corpses? And what are these corpses, patients or something else?
Suddenly, I saw a female corpse in the corner. The face was somewhat shriveled and had obviously been placed there for a long time. What surprised me was that this corpse was wearing a white coat, dressed as a doctor. And yet, the withered face seemed so familiar to me, but for a moment, I couldn't recall where I had seen it before.
In this smelly warehouse, I'm getting used to the smell and don't feel like throwing up all the time like before.
The pile of corpses in front of me, which has grown into a small mountain, is basically all deformed, not a single one is in normal shape. These corpses seem to be able to continue growing, unlike normal corpses that are just like dead skin piled up on the side. This makes me feel strange. I have a friend who studies medicine, and once we discussed how after a person dies, their body will severely dehydrate and won't grow at all, but instead will wither and dry out.
Looking at the pile of deformed corpses in front of me, I couldn't help but feel nauseous again. Some of these corpses had heads that looked like tumors, while others were swollen like soccer balls. None of them were normal, except for one corpse in the corner that resembled a doctor, which seemed to be relatively intact.
I walked up to the female corpse and tried to think about who she was, why I felt so familiar with her, as if I had just seen her.
Suddenly, a face flashed in my mind, a pale and terrifying face, a face with only white eyes.
I lowered my head and looked at that pale face, and found that the face of this corpse was exactly the same as that ghost's.
Was that ghost trying to tell me something? Thinking of this, I stood up and looked at the pile of corpses, and couldn't help but feel that things weren't as simple as they seemed.
