Chapter 22: The Tomb Below

Chapter Twenty-Two: Down into the Grave

"What's a thief cave?" Da Zhuang looked at me in confusion.

Looking at Da Zhuang's completely unaware appearance, I helplessly shook my head. "Even if I say more, you won't understand. A tomb passage is a tunnel dug from the ground surface to an underground burial site."

After hearing my words, Da Zhuang seemed to understand and nodded his head. After confirming the solidity of the cave, I pulled Da Zhuang in the direction we came from and headed back. Since someone had already dug a tunnel for us, why not take advantage of it and explore?

The distance from the bottom of the cave to the previous bonfire was not far, just four or five minutes, and Da Zhuang and I turned back along the original road.

He and Ali were sitting by the fire chatting, seeing me and Da Zhuang come back, stood up "How is it inside?"

I took out the water bottle from my backpack and drank a mouthful of water. "There's a thief hole at the deepest part of this cave, I reckon there must have been grave robbers here before, and below this cave should be an ancient tomb."

After hearing what I said, he said, "Xiao Ke, if there were tomb robbers here before, would there be anything left in the ancient tombs below?"

I took a closer look, and although the expression was still relatively calm at this time, I could see a hint of excitement that couldn't be suppressed between the eyebrows, it can be inferred that he was deliberately suppressing his own excitement.

"I'm not sure about this, but according to the old man, there should be two waves of tomb raiders who came here. The first wave probably got wiped out or stole something valuable and scattered, while the second wave probably came after losing contact with the first wave. However, the old man only said that the second wave went up the mountain, if they came down safely, then there might not be anything left in this ancient tomb, but I didn't hear the old man say they came down."

As for the ancient tomb at the bottom of the cave, I just had a psychological expectation of trying my luck. After all, I'm just a novice in this aspect, with no concept or experience. Compared to the two waves of grave robbers that the old man mentioned, I'm just a small fry. Those two waves of grave robbers must be experts in this field. If neither of them came out, then going in would be like sending ourselves to death. But now, nobody knows whether the second wave of grave robbers has come out or not, which leaves me with a sense of unease.

"If these two groups of grave robbers didn't come down the mountain, going in might be a death sentence. Nobody knows what's down there. I've heard that dead people's tombs often have some ghostly things."

I said, regarding going down into the tomb, my heart is at two extremes. On one hand, I want to go down and try my luck, experience something I've never experienced before. On the other hand, I don't want to go down. Who can guarantee it's safe down there? Just the ghost of Fude Hospital and the snow monster here have proven that there are many terrifying existences we don't know about. Moreover, Grandpa used to tell me about corpses coming back to life as zombies and other scary things."

I was the one who provoked them to fight, but I didn't want anything bad to happen to Da Zhuang.

After hearing what I said, **laughed** "Xiao Ke, how did you become so superstitious now? We must go down to this grave, where is the reason not to take money in front of us?"

Before I could even speak, Da Zhuang interrupted me and said, "Dude, you have no idea how evil superstition is. If you had gone to Fuday Hospital with me back then, I guarantee you wouldn't dare say anything about being superstitious or not."

"What? Li Donghai, aren't you the one who doesn't believe in ghosts and gods the most? What's wrong with you? How can you change so much after such a long time without seeing each other?" He smiled.

After hearing that, Da Zhuang was about to speak in dialect, but I hastily interrupted him. "Alright, Zhangzi, are you sure you want to enter this tomb? Ali's injuries..."

Before I could finish, Ali stood up. "I'm definitely going in. The injuries on my body are nothing, I'm used to them." After saying that, Ali rarely showed a hint of a smile.

Everyone has expressed their opinions, and I didn't say anything else. I just reminded them to be vigilant at all times after going down and not to relax. Then we each picked up our things and headed towards the bottom of the cave.

In about four or five minutes, we arrived at the large stone wall painting where Da Zhuang and I came before. **Recognizing the goods, he saw the stone wall painting and immediately ran to the front of the stone wall painting "This must be a good thing." He said, touching the painting.

I walked to the edge of the stone wall mural and said beside the thief cave, "This mural can't be taken down without a big project. We'll go down from here in a while. After going down, we must remember to stay together and not get separated. I don't dare guarantee what we will encounter below."

Everyone nodded, and I had the lightest load on me, just carrying an ancient sword, while everything else was in Da Zhuang's backpack behind him.

I carried the ancient sword and crawled into the thieves' cave, following in order were Da Zhuang, **, and Ali also crawled in. A thread of cold air shuttled back and forth inside the cave, fortunately we all wore overcoats, so that cold air didn't have much effect on us.

After entering this cave, I only feel that although the cave was dug in a hurry, it is actually very well-dug. It doesn't give people a feeling of being extremely oppressed at all, and its solidity is also very good. As can be expected, the craftsmanship of the person who dug the cave is extremely high.

The distance to the cave was not long, and before long I saw a beam of light. The beam of light was faint and dark, giving people an indescribable feeling, as if there was a vast ocean on the other side.

As for the inverted cave, I had no experience at all. At this time, I had already reached the bottom of the cave, and I didn't dare to be reckless. I slightly poked my head out to take a look at the scene on the other side of the cave. If I hadn't looked, I wouldn't have known that just by poking my head out, what entered my line of sight was a crystal-like ice palace.
