Chapter 27: Corpse Deception

Chapter 1: The Strange Occurrence on Guard Spirit Night

From a young age, I would always hear those mischievous kids making fun of my family situation at school. Because I didn't have a mother, I had a strong temper and couldn't take the teasing. When other kids were bullied, they could go home and tell their mothers about it, but when I was bullied, I had to get revenge from the person who bullied me. At that time, every kid who made fun of me for not having a mother got beaten up by me. Many times, the parents of those kids came to our house to cause trouble, but my grandmother would smile and invite them in. I would be locked outside the gate, and I didn't know what my grandmother said to those people, but when they left, they were all very polite, and occasionally when they saw me at the door, they would kindly say: "Xiao Xian, study hard!"

It was also many times, I thought grandma sent away my parents and would scold me severely, but never did. Growing up so big, I have never seen grandma lose her temper, she always seemed like a wise man who had seen all the ways of the world, calmly accepting everything that happened in life.

I once wanted to learn to live as freely and calmly as my grandmother, but I couldn't control the weakness of my emotions. Even now, what I'm thinking is that if Bao An dares to speak nonsense, I'll punch him in the face and make him search for his teeth on the ground.

This guy's gaze immediately fell accurately on my clenched fist, and upon seeing this, he coldly sneered: "Indeed, you're a child without a mother, the moment your origins are brought up, you become like a hedgehog about to be plucked! Girl, in front of me, stop clenching your fists, do you think you can touch me?"

"It's funny, when did I say I wanted to touch you? Are you going to speak or not?" Subconsciously, I put my hands behind me, being seen through by this annoying ghost, feeling a sense of naked shame, like a shadow following me.

"You'll know soon enough!" He gave a look that was hard to decipher, just shaking his head, making me feel anxious and unsure of how to pry it out of him.

Forget it, this guy is not a normal person at all, why bother arguing with him and getting so worked up.

I won't say anything else and walked quickly towards my own home's entrance.

There is a locust tree in front of my house, with branches stretching out and growing very large. The shade under the tree is very cool, and usually there are several children playing there every day. But today it's quiet in front of my house, maybe because of the recent Wang family incident on the street that made the neighbors cautious. I didn't think much about it either.

I walked to the front gate and turned back to take a look at Shu An, who had stopped under the pagoda tree. It seemed he didn't intend to go home, which I thought was for the best. Once he left, we wouldn't meet again, and I couldn't care less about this spiritual marriage business - I'd just pretend I'd never heard of it.

"Dad, open the door, it's Xiaoxian, I'm back!"

I knocked on the door and shouted twice in a loud voice, fearing that my dad might not have heard it.

But after a long time, no one came to open the door inside. I was puzzled and turned back to see Shu An standing under the tree shade, expressionless, but I felt he was secretly gloating over my misfortune of not being answered when knocking on the door.

"You've sent it over, now go back! Nothing will happen to me in front of my own door!" I didn't want him to see me enjoying the sunshine, so I spoke up and sent him away.

He shrugged and replied, "You're thinking too much, I'm not staying here because I'm afraid something will happen to you!"

"What's gotten into you?" I stared at him in confusion, and this guy actually smiled back at me!

My goodness, I saw him smile for the first time, heaven knows if it's a problem with his retina or not, and I couldn't help but get goosebumps all over my body. I shook my head and trembled, and then heard someone coming from the yard, guessing it was Dad who had just woken up from his afternoon nap and was now coming to open the door for me!

I smiled easily and the wooden door creaked open!

But I never thought that a basin of foul-smelling dog blood was waiting for me, and it was directly poured over my face, pouring all over my body.
