Chapter 1: The Strange Occurrence on Guard Spirit Night
"Hehehe...... Waaahhh......" I seemed to hear the sound of a child's cry and laughter, swallowed my saliva, and unconsciously moved towards that sound.
I've arrived at a cave entrance, and upon seeing this cave, I somehow knew where I was - the mountain behind the town, named Bai Shan.
The mountain is very big, with lush trees. When I was a child, my friends and I would often play on the mountain together. However, there's a cave on this mountain, and there's a scary rumor about it related to an old woman with long hair. It's said that many years ago, in the village at the foot of the mountain, there lived a 100-year-old woman whose son was unfilial and hated her for not dying quickly enough. He would scold her every day and eventually carried her on his back to the cave and abandoned her in front of it. The old woman, with no other choice, hanged herself from the entrance of the cave using her own long hair.
Since then, anyone who passes by here will always encounter some strange things, so over time, this place has become a forbidden area, not to mention children, even adults do not come.
And I, however, arrived at this mountain cave in the dead of night by some sort of mysterious fate.
The sound of the child's crying and laughing was coming from the cave, exceptionally clear.
I saw a flicker of fire in the cave, could it be that the murderer killed Wang Da Shu and then hid Little Bei here after tying her up?
If that's the case, I should immediately go down the mountain and report to the police or tell others. No matter how I got here, it's absolutely strange. I can't stay here for another second!
Just as I was about to move my foot, my left ankle was caught by something and couldn't be moved!
"Dead girl, you stepped on my hair!" a voice came from underfoot.
By the light of the fire shining from the cave, I looked down and almost got scared to death. On the ground was an old woman with only a few strands of hair left on her head, staring at me with resentment in her eyes.
And the thing that bound my feet was a mass of hair-like tendrils, constantly growing, covering my heels and ankles, threatening to engulf my calves.
My psychological burden had long since exceeded its limit, and seeing this scene, I let out a shrill scream, using all my strength to try and struggle free from the left foot, but it was completely useless.
"Haha, dead girl, heaven has a road you don't take, hell has no door you rush in..." The old woman said with a strange and eerie tone.
At this time, the sound of children's crying and laughing from the cave behind disappeared!
It seems like something is coming out of that hole.
Everything around suddenly fell silent...
All that was left was the ferocious skull on the ground, and she still smiled sinisterly.
"You're done for!"
Am I dead for sure? You old hag, aren't you already long dead? Even after dying, you still come out to block my way of living, and who knows where your courage comes from. With one empty leg, I actually kicked that skull with force.
That old woman was indeed kicked by me and let out a strange cry of pain before disappearing, those hairs that were tied to my left foot also vanished all at once!
I took a deep breath, but found that under the illumination of the flames, my own shadow on the ground had distorted and changed shape, round and rolling like a giant beach ball. This was absolutely not my shadow.
There's a little voice in my heart telling me it's coming!
That thing in the cave is now standing behind me, I don't even dare to breathe.
Obviously, whatever it is, it has a shadow!
Now that I think about it, that old woman from earlier is gone, and she definitely wasn't scared off by me. She was scared off by this thing with a shadow.
What kind of thing is it that even ghosts are afraid of and cannot escape?
