Volume 1: Spirit Marriage Chapter 50: There's a Monster Underwater
Fan Feng gazed at the inky waterway, hesitating, but ultimately couldn't resist Wu Lele's encouragement. He finally mustered up the courage to walk to the water's edge and then stepped onto the sharp rocks protruding from the surface, slowly making his way across.
He stretched out his hands, worried that the water would wet his shoes and afraid of falling into the water, with a style like a dragonfly touching the water, but he walked very slowly and clumsily, so it looked extremely awkward.
"Heh heh." Wu Lele couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Suddenly, Fan Feng's foot slipped and with a cry of surprise, he fell into the water with a splash.
"Haha……" Wu Lele burst out laughing and said with a pleased tone: "I knew he would fall, just look at that stone, it's so slippery, it's strange if he didn't fall into the water."
Fan Feng was struggling in the water, fortunately that kid knew how to play games, he swam towards the opposite side, just as he was about to reach the shore, his body suddenly shook violently and he shouted loudly: "Save me! Save me!" His body also sank rapidly downwards, in an instant his head had sunk into the water, only his two hands were stretched out upwards, grabbing wildly.
I was shocked, and without thinking, I trampled on the reef, ran with all my might, and when I reached the opposite shore, I saw that Fan Feng's hands were about to sink into the water. I quickly grabbed one of his hands and pulled upwards with force, but strangely, this kid was like a thousand-pound boulder - no matter how hard I pulled, I couldn't pull him up. I worried that he would suffocate in the water, so anxiously I shouted at Wu Lele: "Come over and help!"
Wu Lele suddenly appeared beside me, grabbed Fan Feng's other hand with one hand, and pulled Fan Feng up with me.
This little guy was all wet, and as soon as he got ashore, he started coughing nonstop. I saw that he wasn't going to die, so I felt relieved. Then I asked Wu Lele how she had gotten there, and Wu Lele said of course she had walked over. I recalled the scene from earlier, and it seemed like Wu Lele had suddenly appeared beside me from across the way at an astonishing speed.
Logically speaking, no one has such speed, even Liu Xiang, the flying man, doesn't have it. So how did Wu Lele do it? Was I mistaken due to the urgent situation just now?
Wu Lele said don't mind how I came here, go and see what's going on with that person, why is he like a stone?
At that time, the person was only about two meters away from me. I found that the clothes he wore seemed familiar. I walked up quickly and didn't realize until I got closer that it was the jacket Zhang Yunhao had worn today.
It's this kid after all!
I angrily shouted: "Hao, you've been qigong-pointed!" As I said that, I went to pat his shoulder. I thought he was intentionally standing there playing a trick on us and refusing to help, so I patted him very hard. Who would have thought that this one pat felt like it was on stone, my palm almost breaking.
"Damn it!" I cursed loudly and quickly withdrew my hand, feeling like my whole hand was trembling.
How come Zhang Yunhao's body is so hard? Has this kid been petrified or something?
Wu Lele looked around and wondered: "How is it a stone?"
A stone? I walked to the opposite side of "Zhang Junhao" and took a look, and indeed it was a stone, but it had been carved into a human shape. To be precise, it was a stone statue of a person. The statue was carved very realistically, just like a real person, even with legs carved to resemble wearing pants. From its delicate face and slightly protruding chest, it should be a 16 or 17-year-old girl. What's more surprising is that the statue was wearing Zhang Junhao's clothes.
Why was Zhang Yunhao's clothes draped over the stone statue? And where did he go? I exchanged a bewildered glance with Wu Lele, and it was clear that she too was perplexed.
I quickly pulled down Zhang Yunhao's clothes, carefully examined the stone statue, and confirmed it wasn't Zhang Yunhao. Then I asked Wu Lele: "You said, where did Brother Hao go? Is he playing hide-and-seek with us?"
Wu Lele looked around and said that there was only one way out of the cave entrance. We didn't see him when we came in, which means he hasn't left, but there's nowhere to hide inside, and we still can't find him. So, there are only three possibilities. I asked what they were, Wu Lele said think about it yourself, aren't you clever? I said stop being mysterious, I'm in a hurry. Wu Lele said why are you in such a rush, your goddess isn't the one who's missing after all.
I don't want to get entangled with Wu Lele anymore, so I went to see Fan Feng.
The kid had already caught his breath and sat up from the ground, I saw him with a fearful expression, pale face, and asked if he was okay? He stared at me without speaking, I let out a light sigh, born into a wealthy family, raised in luxury since childhood, how could he have experienced something like this before? Probably scared silly, and I didn't have the leisure to care about him, preparing to exit the cave to tell Zhong Ling'er about this.
Just as I was about to leave, Fan Feng suddenly shouted: "Don't move!" I was stunned for a moment, and turned my head to look at him in surprise. He glanced into the water, and said with a terrified expression: "There's something under the water!" I hesitated for a moment, asking him what it was. He trembled and stuttered: "Th-th-there's... there's a monster! It just grabbed my foot and tried to pull me down."
A chill ran from the soles of my feet to the top of my head, and I subconsciously took a step back, with an inexplicable sense of panic in my heart.
I'm so scared because of He Xiao's credit. At first, he pushed me into the water and grabbed my foot to pull me into the water, almost drowning me at the bottom of the pool. As the saying goes, once bitten by a snake, ten years afraid of the rope, now every time I go into the water, there is an intangible fear in my heart.
Is there a ghost under the water?
Wu Lele walked to the water's edge, bent down, stretched out her hand and touched the water, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Fan Feng stood up and walked to the stone statue, looked at it and muttered: "Why is it a stone man?" I thought, would this kid see Wu Lele here, afraid of losing face in front of the girl, so intentionally said there was a monster under the water? So I asked him: "Are you sure there's a monster under the water?" Fan Feng swore solemnly: "Really, like human hands, grabbed my leg, I almost got pulled down."
"Could it be a water ghost?" I asked.
Wu Lele said, "Let's go down and take a look, then we'll know." I thought she was joking. How could she want to go down when there are monsters below? Doesn't she value her life?
Wu Lele asked, "What about the Water Saint in your knife? Why don't you call him out?" I said my knife wasn't with me.
Wu Lele's eyes widened and she said, "You're not carrying something that important on you?" I said it was precisely because it was precious that I didn't carry it on me.
Wu Lele said such a valuable thing should be carried on one's person. I said it wasn't money, what's the point of carrying it? She said that knife is more important than money!
Suddenly, footsteps came from outside the cave and we looked up to see Zhong Ling'er walking in with several bags and three umbrellas. I asked her how she got in and she said it was raining. As she spoke, she put down the things in her hands on a rock and looked at us before asking, "Where's Zhang Yunhao?"
"He's gone missing." I felt like I was joking.
Zhong Ling'er looked at me for three seconds, making sure I wasn't lying, before opening her eyes wide to take a look around the cave, and finally walking towards us. I quickly called out to her, saying it was dangerous underwater.
Wu Lele gazed at the water's surface and asked: "Don't you think this water seems much bigger?"
I looked into the water this morning and felt that it had really risen a lot. The several protruding stones in front, which were about one foot high, were now level with the water. I was anxious, it's raining, the water is rising, let's hurry up, otherwise it will be difficult for us to get past when the water gets bigger. Wu Lele spread her hands and tiptoed quickly across the stones, very swiftly and lightly.
Fan Feng walked to my side, gazing at the water's surface with hesitation. I said, "Come on, hurry up! What are you still dawdling for?" Fan Feng said he was afraid. I said, "Even if you're afraid, you have to get across. Otherwise, you'll be stuck here forever with that stone statue."
Suddenly, Wu Lele stretched out her hand and pointed behind us, shouting: "Look! Quick look!"
I just think that stone statue is nothing special. Then, he crumpled up Zhang Yunhao's clothes into a ball and shouted to Wu Lele: "Catch!" He then threw it over with force, Wu Lele stretched out his hand to catch the clothes, but unexpectedly didn't catch them, like a gust of wind blew by, the clothes slipped away and fell into the water.
How silly! I told Wu Lele to quickly pick up the clothes, but Wu Lele kept pointing behind us while jumping and shouting: "Quickly look back!"
Zhong Ling'er picked up her clothes and lifted them up. Water poured down in waves, splashing loudly like rain.
I saw Wu Lele's expression didn't seem to be scaring anyone, so I turned my head to look around, but behind me was empty and there was nothing. Just as I was about to ask this girl what she was up to again, suddenly, my heart sank, something's not right!
