Chapter 67: Monster in the Water

Volume 1: Spirit Marriage Chapter 67: Monster in the Water

Wu Lele brought over a stone and was about to smash the water grass without saying a word. I hurriedly stopped her and asked her to help pull instead. Wu Lele threw away the stone and came to help, but she used too much force. With a "splash", the water grass was pulled up in an instant, and we both sat down on the ground with a thud at the same time.

Ignoring the pain, we hastily shone the flashlight towards the other end of the water grass, only to find a large black turtle tied up at the other end. The black turtle was as big as half a basin, its entire body jet-black and wrapped around by the water grass, now poking its head out in surprise and staring at us.

I was stunned along with Wu Lele, wanting to laugh but couldn't. Wu Lele asked if it was this guy who dragged the dead rat into the water? I picked up the big black turtle and found that although it was very heavy, it looked extremely clumsy and didn't seem to have enough strength to hold its own against two people. Moreover, a turtle wouldn't be able to use aquatic plants to tie someone's foot and drag him into the water in less than a minute, would it?

"It won't be it." I will get rid of the water grass wrapped around the big black turtle, put it back in the water and say: "There is another one."

"Who could that be?" Wu Lele shone his flashlight tightly at the big black turtle, and as soon as it hit the water, it swam away without looking back, slowly disappearing into the dark water.

"There's something in the water." I told Wu Lele about the person I saw in the water, but didn't mention a word about the two people who attacked me on the shore earlier, mainly because it involved Zhong Ling'er, and I didn't want Wu Lele to know.

Wu Lele seemed to be thinking, saying that we should go up first. I looked at Zhang Yunhao lying on the ground and didn't understand why the thing in the water wanted to drag his body into the water. If we went up, we would have to bring Zhang Yunhao with us. Since the monster in the water was interested in Zhang Yunhao's body, it would definitely come to grab it again. Its strength was like that of an ox, and I was afraid that Wu Lele and I would be unable to cope with it in the water.

I expressed my concerns, but Wu Lele said lightly: "It's nothing, didn't you run into her before? She didn't hurt you, which means she doesn't like killing people. The reason she wanted to drag the dead mouse into the water is just because she thought it was fun." I asked what if after we get in the water, she wants to play with Hao Ge again, Wu Lele said: "Then let's give her the dead mouse to play with."

This is obviously not going to work.

Zhang Yunhao is dead. As his brother, how can I let him die without peace and be played by the monster in the water? I'm afraid that even after he becomes a ghost, he will still scold me.

"What else can we do?" Wu Lele looked at me.

I was at a loss, and asked her if she had brought her mobile phone down with her. She said that she had only brought hers, and was worried that my mobile would get wet, so I had left it upstairs. I told her to call the police, but when she tried to dial, she found that her phone was waterlogged and wouldn't turn on. Then, in a casual gesture, she tossed the phone into the water.

"You... " how did you throw your phone away? Even if it's broken, it can still be repaired, but before I could finish speaking, I was stunned by the scene in the water. Wu Lele's phone had just fallen into the water when a hand suddenly reached out and grabbed it, making a splashing sound as it pulled the phone underwater, causing the surrounding water to ripple.

I stared at Wu Lele in shock.

"Can you see what it is clearly?" Wu Lele asked. I said it seemed to be a hand.

"It's really his handwriting." Wu Lele said.

A formless fear surged up, since that was a hand, it means the monster in the water had been guarding in the water all along, waiting for us to get into the water. And she could stay in the water for so long, absolutely not human. Since it's non-human, is it a water monster? Or is it a water monkey?

Wu Lele picked up a stone and threw it into the water. As soon as the stone hit the water, a hand immediately grabbed it and pulled it under. Wu Lele picked up another stone and threw it into the water, with the same result. Wu Lele panted and said: "Xiao Dao, throw the turd in!"

  Speechless. Disgusting or not disgusting?

I picked up the water grass on the ground, looked at Wu Lele, and Wu Lele asked, "Fishing?" I nodded, Wu Lele's spirit was lifted, she gave me a thumbs up, then shone her flashlight into the water. I bunched up one end of the water grass and threw it into the water. As soon as it hit the water, that hand grabbed the water grass and pulled it underwater. I immediately grasped the water grass tightly and pulled hard towards the shore. Wu Lele picked up a sharp stone and stared intently at the water's surface, ready to smash the stone down if the creature poked its head out.

Suddenly a crisp sound, the water grass broke, and I sat back, sitting on a sharp stone, almost bursting with chrysanthemums, hurting to death.

"Ah!" I was furious, jumped up and patted my butt, ready to take off my pants. Wu Lele asked me what I was doing, I said the water grass wasn't solid, so I'd use my pants to fish. Wu Lele couldn't help but laugh, saying forget it, you're not the one who said you saw a girl in the water, are you? Now taking off your pants, how embarrassing! I don't like people who don't care about their image. As she spoke, she walked to the water's edge, squatted down, and slowly stirred the water with her hand. I immediately went over, grabbed her back, and said aren't you afraid of that monster grabbing your hand and pulling you underwater? Wu Lele said this was exactly what she wanted, how could we get the tiger cub without entering the tiger's den? I disagreed, it was too dangerous, we couldn't do this.

"What should I do?" Wu Lele looked at me again.

I racked my brains and was at a loss what to do; were we going to be trapped here to death?

"Never mind, let's take a look at Haoshi first." Wu Lele said as she walked to Zhang Junhao's side, squatted down and shone her flashlight on his face, then opened his eyelids and took a closer look at his eyes. As she examined him, she said: "Xiaodao, I have a suggestion, don't know if you'll accept it or not." I asked what the suggestion was, Wu Lele said: "Haoshi seems to still be breathing, if you kiss him once, he might get excited and come back to life."

This joke is going too far. If a kiss could bring people back to life, then there would be no deaths in this world. Just one kiss and everyone comes back to life.

"Are you close or not?" Wu Lele batted her eyelashes at me.

I said you can kiss me, but kissing - a man, no way.

"Then come on." Wu Lele continued to flirt with him.

"Be serious for once!" I turned my face away, not wanting to make eye contact with her. What kind of time is this, and yet she's still making jokes like that? How can she show such disrespect to the deceased brother? This is an insult to the dead!

I saw Zhang Yunhao was closer to the water surface, worried that the monster in the water would use its strange move to drag him underwater again, so I hugged him from behind his shoulder and decided to put him on a higher rock.

"Cough..." Suddenly, I heard a coughing sound. I was startled for a moment, thinking I had misheard. Looking around, I then heard another faint voice: "Can you keep it down, Hao?"

I lowered my head and saw Zhang Yunhao staring at me with wide eyes.

"Ah!" I put down Zhang Yunhao and subconsciously took two steps back.

"Ah!" Zhang Yunhao's head hit the stone, and he let out a moan, gritting his teeth in pain. I only then realized that he wasn't dead, and my surprise turned to joy as I quickly knelt down beside him and asked: "Hao-ge, you're not dead? How didn't you die?" Zhang Yunhao weakly said: "Dage, I misjudged you." I was taken aback for a moment, unsure of how to respond. Then I heard him say: "Seeing that I'm not dead, you seem really disappointed?" I hastily explained that it wasn't so, and asked how he had managed to survive after all.

"Wu Lele smiled and said, 'He's not dead, he just fainted.'"

It turns out that Wu Lele knew all along that Zhang Yunhao wasn't dead, no wonder she's been so calm since coming down, not showing any signs of sadness. But this despicable girl didn't tell me the truth, making me suffer for a while.

Zhang Yunhao struggled to sit up from the ground, rubbing his swollen right cheek and asked: "How did I end up here again?" I asked him what was going on, didn't he know he had already arrived here?

I actually wanted to find out from Zhang Yunhao if he had seen Zhong Ling'er, because on the phone, Zhong Ling'er told me that Zhang Yunhao was dead and it was she who killed him. However, Zhang Yunhao said that after being slapped by the stone statue, he fainted on the spot, and as for what happened later, he didn't know.

Wu Lele suddenly touched Zhang Yunhao's swollen face, and Zhang Yunhao immediately jumped up in pain, shouting: "What are you doing? Don't touch me!" Wu Lele smiled and said: "Now you're much more spirited, okay, now it's your turn to think about how we should get out of here."

Zhang Yunhao pointed to the water pool and said that he had swum out from underneath it last time, but in fact the entrance was above, and it was easy to go up. Wu Lele said that it was easy, but there was a mermaid in the water who had taken a liking to him and wanted him to be her son-in-law, so she wouldn't let them go up.
