Chapter 2 Story

  Chapter Two Story

Everyone knows that the medical school with a morgue is the easiest place to associate with ghosts, and it's associated with things that human science can't explain yet. So in medical schools, students are very reluctant to mention the word "ghost", and at Yijiang University, almost all students go to the morgue in large groups.

"It is better to believe it exists than to believe it does not exist."

"Yi Qian, do you believe it?" Lin Yuan also seemed to be piqued with interest.

There are people who believe in the existence of ghosts and spirits, while others do not. In medical schools, there has long been a rumor that the morgue is a passageway to the underworld, so few people dare to go there. Whether or not ghosts really exist in this world remains unknown.

The morgue of Yjiang University is at the back of the school, and you can only get there by going through the woods.

"It's hard to believe, even I don't dare to believe it's true until now." Li Yiqian said with her head down.

"What's that? Have you seen a ghost?" Lin Yuan stood up and walked to Li Yi Qian's side, sitting down. "What does a ghost look like? Tell me quickly."

"It's better not to mention such things as ghosts, they're quite efficacious." Du Xiaonan glanced around every corner of the dormitory.

"I don't believe it, so just treat it as a story." Lin Yuan still wouldn't let go of the opportunity to "listen" to the "story".

Su Jiner seemed to have also sparked interest, people often say that places with heavy yin energy are where ghosts are most abundant, and the morgue is a passage leading to the underworld. Naturally, many stories about ghosts would circulate in medical school. Humans are indeed contradictory beings, they're clearly afraid of ghosts yet enjoy listening to ghost stories. Su Jiner didn't believe it, but ghosts are after all formless, saying she wasn't afraid would be a lie. However, with nothing else to do at this hour, she might as well listen to the story.

"Actually, I had seen it before, but at that time, I didn't see it very clearly. It was after the college entrance exam. My classmates and I went out to celebrate the end of the exam, and it happened on our way back home. I don't know why, but the sky was particularly dark that day, almost nothing could be seen, just like there was a thick fog, and it made people feel very depressed. At first, we all thought it was because of the weather changing, so we didn't pay much attention to it. But when we passed by a forest, we suddenly saw a woman walking towards us."

Li Yiqian's whole body was trembling, as if she had returned to that night again. Her face was full of terrified expressions.

"No, not walking, more like floating," she said suddenly, her hands clenched tightly.

"What's going on?" Lin Yuan said in surprise.

  "What's next?" Jin'er asked.

"Afterwards, we all thought our eyes were playing tricks on us, and when we looked carefully again, that woman had vanished."

"That must be you seeing things, there's no ghost, I was just joking." Du Xiaonan said with a smile, which was obviously forced.

"I also thought it was just a hallucination, and we even joked that on such a dark night, there wouldn't be a woman walking alone, it must have been a hallucination. But one of our classmates said, if it's a hallucination, then why would multiple people all see the same thing?!" Li Yiqian seemed to want to laugh, then continued: "The second time we saw her again, and what was even more eerie was that she was standing on a tree staring at us."

Isn't it? Her words seem contradictory!

"You said it was very foggy at first and you couldn't see anything, so how could you see a woman walking towards you? And the second time you saw her, how could you see her standing on the tree looking at you?" Su Jin'er asked. She never believed in ghosts and gods, and she believed that humans were even more terrifying than ghosts.

"At first, I thought it was strange too. She was wearing a long red dress that looked like blood. The reason I said she was staring at us is because when I saw her for the second time, my whole body felt frozen, and the chill seemed to come from deep within my heart." Li Yiqian trembled as she spoke, gazing at Jin'er with terror in her eyes.

  Knock knock——

"Who is it?" Lin Yuan asked reflexively.

"It must be our classmates coming to call us for military training." Jin'er said with a smile.

  "Oh yeah! I totally forgot!"

The first thing to do when entering university is military training. The body is the capital of revolution, and only with a good body can you study well. This is what the instructor said on the first day of military training. Su Jin'er's first day of military training was very simple, just practicing running and turning left and right in the playground. They were exhausted after a day, but the content of the second day's military training made them unbearable.

"Tomorrow's military training is really a headache!" Du Xiaonan said while wiping her hair, she was very dissatisfied with tomorrow's military training arrangement.

"That's right! We're not living in the wilderness anymore, why do we have to go train in the deep mountains?" Lin Yuan also pouted, twirling a strand of hair around his finger.

Su Jiner smiled as she typed on her laptop: "Actually, I think this is great!"

"Where is it good? I don't want to go at all, I'm really afraid of snakes! Those soft-bodied animals look uncomfortable just by looking at them." Lin Yuan's eyebrows were tightly furrowed.

"I have the same idea as Jin'er."

The next day, at 5:00 in the morning, the first batch of freshmen going to military training gathered at the school gate. They were dressed in uniform military training uniforms and lined up neatly waiting for the arrival of the bus.

Everyone's face had a different expression, some were expectant, some were fearful, some were excited, some were dissatisfied, and some had no expression at all. Su Jiner and the other three stood at the back, Lin Yuan's hand tightly grasping Su Jiner's arm, his mouth still complaining about the school's behavior. Lin Yiqian and Du Xiaonan stood behind them, also discussing what to pay attention to during this military training.

The car slowly came to a stop at the school gate, and everyone got in one by one. There were 30 people participating in this military training. Su Jiner found a seat by the window and sat down, with Lin Yuan sitting beside her, while Lin Yiqian and Du Xiaonan sat in front of them. Suddenly, the car was filled with noise, completely drowning out the sound of the engine. Su Jiner furrowed her brow as she looked at the unfamiliar faces around her, some excited, others dissatisfied, and her thoughts drifted away to a distant unknown place.

During her middle school years, due to her parents' busy work schedules, she would be sent to her grandmother's house in the countryside every summer vacation. Compared to the city, she preferred the rural village filled with human warmth. She still remembers that every summer vacation, there was a boy named Qiangzi who would take her to the riverbank to catch fish. His skin was tanned by the sun, giving off a very healthy feeling, completely unlike the boys in the city who stayed indoors every day with pale and tender skin.

Every summer vacation is her happiest time, although every time her skin will be tanned to a wheat color, but she thinks that's the healthy version of herself.

In the first year of junior high school, Jin'er returned to her grandmother's house and met Qiangzi, who was only 12 years old at that time. Qiangzi was one year older than her, but perhaps due to the late start of schooling in rural areas, Qiangzi was also in the first year of junior high school. When she saw Qiangzi for the first time, he was very shy and didn't dare to raise his eyes. Jin'er remembered that at that time, Qiangzi still stuttered when speaking, and it would take several minutes to complete a sentence.

Thinking of the first time she saw Qiangzi, Jin'er couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"Are you still smiling when going to such a terrifying place for military training?" Lin Yuan looked at Su Jin'er in surprise, whose mouth corners still had a smile.

"No! I just thought of someone."

"Who is it? Do I know you?"

Jin'er shook her head, although she and Lin Yuan had been good friends since junior high school, but she didn't know Qiangzi from the countryside.

Lin Yuan seemed to have forgotten where they were going, and was pulling Jin'er along, asking her who that person was. The helpless Jin'er had no choice but to say it was someone she knew from the countryside.

Hearing that it was from the countryside, Lin Yuan became even more curious, what kind of person could make Jin'er, who usually didn't like to talk, think about something and suddenly burst out laughing.

The car drove steadily forward, and the people inside seemed to have forgotten their fear, chatting with new friends they had just met, talking nonsense from all over the place.

"What kind of person is he?!" Lin Yuan asked relentlessly.

Jin'er thought for a moment and said: "He's a boy who gets embarrassed easily."

"It's a boy!" Lin Yuan opened her big mouth, although she had guessed it was a boy, but still deliberately pretended to be surprised.

Su Jiner didn't feel embarrassed at all, she nodded and said: "He's a very interesting boy, the first time I saw him, he was rubbing his sleeves and dared not look at me, his face was red like a cloud on fire, making me think it was because of my appearance that scared him!"

"Really? How come I've never met someone like you before!"

"Really!" Du Xiaonan turned around and looked at Jin'er.

"He's a very interesting boy. Every time I go to my grandma's house, he takes me to the riverbank to catch fish and loaches, then wraps them in mud and cooks them over fire."

  "Dare you eat it?"

Jin'er shook her head: "At first, I didn't dare to eat it. Later on, he kept saying it was delicious and asked me to try some. Grandma also persuaded me, so in the end, I ate it. It's really delicious! There's no fishy smell at all, very fragrant."

"I didn't know you had such an experience, Jin'er!" Du Xiaonan said with some surprise. In her eyes, Jin'er should be the kind of girl who hadn't suffered, a greenhouse flower that needed to be protected by others.

"I really like rural life," Jin'er said with a smile. "If I could, I'd rather live in the countryside."

"So many people are eager to squeeze into the city, but you actually like such a poor place in the countryside." Li Yiqian said with some resentment.

" Poor? No way! I think it's great!"

For a moment, Su Jiner seemed to see a thread of hatred in Li Yiqian's eyes. Although she tried her best to hide it, she still couldn't escape Su Jiner's eyes. She always felt that this girl had some unspeakable secrets.

It seems that she didn't want to continue the topic, Su Jin'er turned her face towards the window, and the school was no longer in sight. The school's location was originally very remote, so the place for military training wasn't far from the school. From the moment they left the school, there was a faint sense of unease in her heart, always feeling that something was wrong, but couldn't quite put her finger on what it was.

Trees began to appear in front of her, and Su Jin'er knew they had entered the mountains. Since the car window couldn't be opened, the air inside was hard to circulate, and she felt her breathing getting more and more difficult.

I really want to get off the bus. This is the only thought in her mind right now, the sweltering air makes her very uncomfortable.

Although it's already September, the weather is still sweltering. Fortunately, it's early morning now and the sun hasn't come out yet. The sky, which should be blue, is instead a gloomy white, making people feel uneasy.

"Classmates, we've arrived, everyone get their belongings ready to get off the bus." The coach's voice suddenly came from the front row.

Looking out at the lush trees outside, her feeling of unease grew even stronger. What was it that wasn't right? She remained seated uncomfortably, her face reflected vaguely in the car window glass, looking somewhat perplexed.

"Jin'er, get off the bus, what are you spacing out for?" Lin Yuan's voice came from behind.

She came back to her senses and smiled: "Okay!"
