Chapter 55 Verse 13
The police officer immediately said: "Open the trunk."
Chengzhou put down the red leaves and immediately opened the Bluetooth speaker.
The mobile phone speaker transmitted the buzzing sound of electricity.
"Hello? Is this Chen Yan?"
Silence, with a faint humming noise.
"Is Chen Yuan? Not? Is it inconvenient to talk now?"
The Mongolian police officer quickly picked up a pen and wrote two big words on white paper: WHERE?
Chengzhou was taken aback for a moment before understanding, and hastily asked: "Chen Yan, is this Jiuhua Mountain now? If so, just tap the phone lightly twice."
Three big dogs perked up their ears together.
Hong Ye looked at her phone curiously, so mobile phone signals can be used like this? Interesting.
A very clear "ding ding" sound came from the phone's speaker.
"Where is Mount Jiuhua? Across the gorge?" Chengzhou blurted out.
Another two "da-da" sounds.
"Was she kidnapped?"
"Zzzt——!" A piercing electrical noise suddenly came from the loudspeaker, startling Cheng Chou and the two policemen.
The phone call was cut off.
The little policeman quickly dialed back.
The Mongolian police officer didn't have time to stop him. Calling back wasn't wise because it might attract the kidnapper's attention if this was indeed a kidnapping case.
The little policeman also pressed the hands-free button, and a prompt tone sounded in the phone: "Sorry, the user you dialed is powered off or out of service..."
"She pulled out the battery?" Otherwise, there would be no prompt for non-service areas. The little policeman was a bit disappointed and also a bit puzzled.
"Dad, it seems like a ghost call." Hongye raised her head and said innocently.
The little policeman nodded secretly, it's very much like him.
Cheng Zhou slapped him, "Don't talk nonsense."
The superior police officer cast a sideways glance at the junior policeman, who hastily buried his head in diligent work.
The police officer turned to look at Cheng Zhou, "Just now you mentioned Chuan Yue Xia? What place is that? Do you know something? Let's go, we'll talk while walking."
The Mongolian police officer picked up his coat and strode out of the police station.
Chengzhou picked up Hongye and hurriedly followed.
On the road, Cheng Zhou briefly mentioned the rumor of crossing the gorge and also mentioned that website, saying he had seen it unintentionally.
"How did you know Chen Yan would go through the canyon?"
Chengzhou felt a bit nervous, and Hongye tugged at his hem. "Dad, didn't Sister Chen say she wanted to go take a look at Chuan Yue Gorge last time? Did you forget?"
"Right! Chen Yan mentioned it."
The police officer always felt that something was wrong, but every time he opened his mouth to ask Cheng Chou, the other party either didn't know what to say or his seemingly well-behaved son suddenly appeared and asked him some strange questions, such as how much a policeman's monthly salary is...
The red leaves suddenly stopped their wild dance and turned their heads with a sarcastic gaze towards the window.
The police officer in Mongolia felt the car suddenly quiet down, and for a moment he was still a bit unaccustomed to scanning the child with his eyes, what did he see?
Chengzhou also noticed something unusual about his son and looked out the window, but... he didn't see anything out of the ordinary. The road was still bustling with cars and people coming and going.
No! That's...?!
Chengzhou's pupils constricted slightly as he caught sight of a figure with a very familiar back view at the corner he had just turned.
It's that little monk!
Found once, soon found again for the second time.
All the way, that little monk followed the police car at a strange speed that Cheng Zhou couldn't understand, occasionally revealing his back to show off his presence.
"Has our company arrived? Can the car be parked outside the gate?"
"It's okay. It's just a weekend and it's just a police car, so it shouldn't take long." Cheng Zhou replied while holding his son's hand.
The little monk slowly emerged from the shadow of the left corner of the building, but just as he was about to reveal his true face, he stopped in his tracks.
"Didn't you see a little monk over there?" Cheng Zhou couldn't help but ask Officer Meng.
Mong police officer busy parking, "Little monk? Where?"
"There." Cheng Zhou stretched out his hand and pointed it out to him.
The police officer slowed down the car and the police car slowly slid to the entrance of the hall of AHS Group Huaxia Branch's self-built building.
"Where?" The police officer turned his head and didn't see anything.
"Then... he left." Cheng Zhou saw Little Monk slowly retreat back into the shadows.
Meng Jing glanced at him strangely, and there was nothing in the place that Cheng Zhou pointed to.
Hong Ye suddenly broke free from Cheng Zhou's hand, "Dad, go pee, we'll hurry first." After saying that, she pushed open the car door and ran.
Cheng Chou thought he could catch him but didn't, and he also didn't know if Hong Ye really wanted to pee or do something bad, so he just shouted at his back: "Don't run around, come back quickly!"
Hong Ye nodded and quickly disappeared around the left corner of the building.
The police officer smiled and said, "He should be taught to go to the company's toilet. Good habits for children must be cultivated from an early age. It's not good to urinate or defecate anywhere."
Chengzhou awkwardly smiled.
While waiting for the return of Hong Ye, Officer Meng showed his ID to the security guard, and Cheng Zhou made a phone call. Liu Gaoming, the administrative department director on duty today, came out running to greet them.
Officer Meng briefly explained the situation, and Liu Gaoming immediately wanted to contact the person in charge of the department. Cheng Zhou patted his head and remembered that their sales department's internal public server had all the detailed contact information for their department.
Liu Gaoming immediately urged him to go upstairs and turn on his own computer to take a look.
Cheng Zhou anxiously turned his head towards the outside of the building, his son had not returned yet.
The Mongolian police officer also furrowed his brow, it had been five or six minutes and there was still no sign of the child.
"Cheng Zhou?" Liu Gaoming urged him.
Chengzhou really wanted to go out and find his son, but was afraid of delaying the rescue of Chenyan. After careful consideration, he had no choice but to ask the security guard to keep an eye on him.
Liu Gaoming's entourage followed closely behind, Cheng Zhou rushed upstairs at the fastest speed, opened his computer in front of him and Police Officer Meng, and pulled out the internal communication record of the sales department.
Fortunately, Chen Yan left behind her home address and contact phone number.
The police officer in Meng worried that Chen's family would not answer the strange phone call, so he explained it and dialed the phone to Chen's family using the landline on Cheng Zhou's desk in front of Liu Gaoming.
A man named Chen answered the phone, "Hello?"
"Alright, I'm Officer Mong from the San Yuan Street Police Station. Is this the Chen family residence?"
"Who would have thought that as soon as the other party heard it was a call from the police, they immediately shouted: 'Has my daughter been found? Where is she now?'"
The police officer's expression changed slightly, and he stood up from the chair where he was making a phone call. "Please don't be in a hurry, listen to what I have to say first."
The other side was panting heavily.
"Are you Chen Yan's father? Your daughter's colleague reported to the police that your daughter called him for help, and we are now verifying this matter."
"Who? Who did she ask for help? What's his name? Has he seen her in the past two days?" Chen's father asked repeatedly over the phone.
The Mongolian police officer did not answer his question, but instead continued to ask: "Mr. Chen, when did your daughter go missing? Was a report filed? Where was the report filed? Who handled it? Is there a contact number and name?"
"Here, here! Wait a minute! There's a business card."
Chengzhou looked anxiously at the gate, why hadn't Hongye returned yet?
The police officer was informed that Chen Yan had been missing since she went out on Friday night, and her family waited for half a night to see if their daughter would return, but they couldn't get through to her phone, so they reported to the nearby police station overnight.
But because Chen Yan is an adult, the police at the dispatch station did not attach great importance to this missing person case. They only asked some basic questions of Chen's parents and let them go home to wait, also asking them to make a few more phone calls to inquire about Chen Yan's colleagues and friends.
This morning, Chen's father and mother ran to the police station again, asking them to send someone to look for Chen Yan.
Chengzhou waited for a few more minutes and couldn't sit still anymore.
"Sorry, Red Leaf hasn't come back yet, I have to go look for him."
The Mongolian police officer dialed the police number provided by Chen's father while gesturing for him to leave.
He rushed out of the office door like a galloping horse and a speeding boat.
He ran to the security office to ask if they had seen a 4 or 5 year old boy come looking for him, but the security guards all said no.
Chengzhou ran out of the company gate again and rushed to the corner to look for Hongye.
But he turned around nearby, shouting loudly many times, and didn't see a shadow of red leaves or hear any response.
Chengzhou suddenly broke out in a cold sweat.
He should have come out earlier to look for red leaves!
He shouldn't be so carefree just because Hongye is a bit special and acts like a big shot!
If something happens to Hongye...
Chengzhou thought of the little monk's faceless face and shuddered.
"Red Leaf! Red Leaf——!" Cheng Zhou ran around the company building non-stop searching.
The phone rang, and Cheng Zhou quickly took out his mobile phone, "Hong Ye!"
"Yes, Old Mong. Haven't found Red Leaf yet?"
"He's gone! He can't be found no matter how hard we look!"
"Don't worry, it's coming out right away!"
After the two parties verified, the police officer basically confirmed that Chen Yan's disappearance was true. He originally planned to drive immediately to the nearby police station near Chen Yan's home, and report the case with the other party together, then determine which district is in charge of it, transfer the case out, and let the district start investigating as soon as possible.
Unexpectedly, a big deal happened at the last minute - Cheng Chou's less than five-year-old son actually got lost near their place!
"It's him! It must be him! He not only wanted to kill that young man and Chen Yan, but also his own son! He followed him all the way and saw him!" Cheng Zhou blurted out everything in a flurry of anxiety as soon as he saw Officer Meng.
"Who is he? Cheng Zhou, what exactly do you know? Speak clearly!" Officer Meng bellowed.
Chengzhou was startled, and his mind cooled down a bit. Ahhh! What did he just say? Sutu Mingming said that the things that happened in the Ghost Castle couldn't be mentioned, otherwise, he would definitely be suspected!
"...Actually, I'm not really sure...really..."
"Get in!" The police officer dragged him to the car door, "Get in, and we'll sort this out at the police station!"
"Found red leaves!"
"It's just helping find her son!"
Chengzhou... pushed him away and ran off immediately. He didn't want to go to the police station, he wanted to find Hongye.
The police officer subconsciously chased after him.
The security guard in the building didn't know what had happened and didn't know whether he should go forward to help.
Chengzhou was no longer thinking clearly at this point, he just wanted to find Hongye quickly and not let him be taken away by that eerie and terrifying little monk.
As for the police chasing after him... he couldn't care less anymore.
Where should I go to find it?
Cheng Chou, who had lost his way, did not know he was running back home.
A familiar street scene appeared, and Cheng Zhou's mind lit up. Right, go home and find Si Tu and He Sheng, they must have a way!
The police officer chasing behind was shocked, as Cheng Zhou didn't look like someone who exercised regularly, yet he ran incredibly fast.
But even so, Chengzhou still can't outrun him.
The Mongolian police officer saw that he was about to catch up with Cheng Chou, and fearing that he would panic and cause an accident, did not dare to call him to stop, preparing to chase him down directly and knock him down.
People on the road dodged one after another, and some even jumped up to "take justice into their own hands" to help the police officer block the way.
"Bang!" Didn't stop Cheng Chou, but instead collided with Officer Meng.
The things in his hand spilled all over the floor.
The Mongolian police officer apologized repeatedly and wanted to bypass this and continue chasing Cheng Chou.
Ke Na couldn't help but pull him back and wouldn't let him leave.
"Sorry! Something urgent!" The police officer apologized and bowed to the other party.
"The middle-aged man grabbed the Mongolian police officer and wouldn't let go, saying 'You knocked over my daughter's and grandson's memorial tablets! You can't just leave like this! We have to put them back up!'"
The police officer looked down and only then discovered that the things scattered all over the ground were actually offerings for the dead, including paper money, white candles...and a black memorial tablet.
Even a staunch atheist like Detective Mung felt somewhat uneasy at the sight of this.
Author's note: Today's update is the most painful, it has been 1 hour and 45 minutes, let me succeed in updating!
I couldn't play Sword Art Online because they said my graphics card wasn't good enough, now I'm having a hard time even uploading articles, what's going on? Is the mobile network speed really that bad? It's supposed to be 4G, after all~~~~
The backstage not only didn't let me update, but also lost all the words I wrote, I have to rewrite them again, painful and mournful!
As I recall while typing:
I'll be going to see a dentist tomorrow afternoon, so updates will be slightly delayed, but no later than 11pm at the latest^^
Also thank you all for supporting the genuine version, palms together in gratitude!
