Chapter Nineteen: The Vampire Appears
As soon as she stepped into the Sha family's grand entrance, Ling Lan drew a huge question mark in her heart. Was it industry competition or personal vendetta? Or did vampires really exist? Hopefully, there would be an answer tonight.
Li Wendong warmly invited Gu Hanhao and Ling Lan to sit down in the living room. The living room had been arranged like a mourning hall, with somber black and white flowers everywhere, and a black coffin placed under the portrait of the deceased.
"Officer Guo, when can we go claim Shao Dong's body?" Li Wentai looked at the black coffin, implying that it couldn't be left empty.
"The autopsy has been completed and it should be in the next two days. Someone will notify you to handle the procedures then. Actually, we came today to inform Shao Meiyan of the results of the investigation into Shao Hui's death case. I think she, as Shao Hui's 'daughter', has the right to know the truth." Gu Hanhao said solemnly to Li Wenzhen.
Li Wendong was shocked, "The murderer has been found?"
"The culprit has been found, but the motive is still unknown. We came today to find out the motive." Gu Hanhao stood up, "This is a serious matter, if you don't ask her to come down, then we have no choice but to go up."
"Wait, wait, I'll go and invite Miss down." Li Wenzhen made a calming gesture for the two to sit down, and quickly walked upstairs.
Gu Hanhao and Ling Lan exchanged a glance, they were finally about to meet Shao Meiyun, the key figure. What kind of secrets did she have on her body? How did she really feel about Shao Bing? They would find out soon.
"Go away! I don't want to see anyone! Get out!" The sound of something crashing and a shrill cry came from upstairs.
Gu Hanhao stood up and it seemed he had no choice but to go upstairs himself to meet this autistic young lady.
Standing at the door of Shao Mei-yun's room on the second floor, Gu Han-hao took the spare key from Li Wen-dong and opened the door despite Li Wen-dong's obstruction.
"Close the door." Gu Hanhao instructed Ling Lan behind him after entering the room.
Ling Lan looked up to see Shao Mei Yun standing in front of the window. She was a slender girl with a pale complexion, looking very young and indeed very beautiful, like an elf who didn't eat human fireworks. She wore a black long dress, one hand on the windowsill, and the other holding a photo frame. Ling Lan noticed that it was a composite photo of Shao Hui and Shao Mei Yun. Was she heartbroken over Shao Hui's death?
"Sha Mei Yun, the murderer who killed your father has been found. Don't you want to know the truth?" Ling Lan asked hastily before Gu Han Hao did, thinking that as a fellow 'female', perhaps this autistic 'girl' would be more willing to communicate with her.
Sha Mei Yun's eyes wandered off in their direction, she pursed her lips and said, "Please leave."
Ling Lan thought her words would stir up huge emotional waves in this 'girl', but instead she remained calm, seemingly uninterested in the question.
Gu Hanhao glanced around Shao Meiying's room, which was cluttered and disorganized, apparently due to long-term neglect. It seemed that this girl didn't even let the maid in to clean. Gu Hanhao could sense that her current state of mind was more chaotic than her room. Soon, he noticed a black file folder on the bedside table. He walked over and opened it, only to find inheritance documents. On the last page, at the bottom right corner, was Shao Meiying's signature.
It is said that a person's handwriting can reveal their personality type. Sha Mei-yun's signature is crooked and twisted, like it was written by a junior high school student. The force of her strokes varies between heavy and light, and the size of each character is different.
Gu Hanhao walked over to Ling Lan's side, "You stay here and talk to her for a bit, see if you can get anything out of her. I'll go out for a bit."
Gu Hanhao opened the door and found Li Wenzhong anxiously waiting at the entrance.
"Has the lawyer come today?" Gu Hanhao asked Li Wenzhong.
"Yes, Attorney Qi is here to read the will. Now all of the Shao family's property belongs to Miss Shao Mei Yun, and she has also agreed to continue employing me as her personal assistant to help her manage the household."
"Has anyone else come?"
Li Wendong thought for a moment, "There are still many people who came today, including Dr. Huo, Shao's doctor, and Mr. Shao Cheng, Shao's cousin from abroad, who rushed over to visit her as soon as he got off the plane. These three are all very familiar with Miss Shao, so she is willing to see them."
"Besides these people, who else did Shao Mei Yun see after the incident?"
Li Wendong thought for a moment and said firmly, "No, after the case was exposed, Ms. Shao locked herself in her room. I don't know if she contacted anyone by phone, but she didn't step out of her room at all. I'm certain about that. It wasn't until today when Mr. Shao's cousin came that she went downstairs to the living room to sit with him for a while."
"They came here in a group of three, and you should have been the first to receive them. Do you still remember how big their luggage was when they entered?"
Li Wendong tilted his head, not quite understanding why Gu Hanhao was asking such a strange question. He thought for a moment before responding, "Attorney Qi had a large briefcase, Dr. Huo had a medical bag that wasn't small either, and as for Mr. Shao, since he came directly from the airport, he had a pull-along suitcase, the largest one."
"Where have you been all day? In the living room?" Gu Hanhao asked, his eyes looking down at the living room downstairs, gazing at that black coffin.
"No, I was in my own room on the second floor, you know that Mr. Shao passed away, there are many things to deal with."
Gu Hanhao lowered his head and thought for a moment, "And what about Dr. Huo? I mean where did he meet Shao Meiyan?"
Li Wendong replied, "There is a special 'gate' clinic, every time the doctors come, they will diagnose and provide psychological guidance to the girls there."
"Go, take me up and have a look."
In the room, after Gu Hanhao left, Ling Lan spoke passionately and vividly to Shao Meiyan about how Shao Hui had paid for her, in order for her to find joy in life, establishing that money-losing "Red Sacrifice Alliance", and then how this great father died at the hands of his own employee.
Finally, Shao Mei Yun in front of the window began to sob, her hands tightly grasping the photo frame. After crying for over ten minutes, Shao Mei Yun muttered to herself: "I didn't want it to be like this either, I didn't want it to be, he forced me, he forced me."
Ling Lan was one of the few who noticed, it seems that as long as she continues to work hard, perhaps Shao Meiyan, who is in a state of 'excitement' and sadness, can reveal more clues.
"I know, of course I understand, which daughter would want her father to die? You love your father, that's beyond doubt." Ling Lan took a few steps forward and got closer to Shao Mei Yun, "Who is it, who 'forced' you? Speak out, speak out and you'll feel better."
Shao Mei Yun immediately stopped crying and stared at Ling Lan. Ling Lan was startled and hastily stopped in her tracks, keeping a distance from Shao Mei Yun. This was bad, she had been too rash and now Shao Mei Yun was on guard, making it impossible to get her to reveal the name of the mastermind behind the scenes.
But unexpectedly, Sha Mei Yun opened her mouth and said: "It was my dad, he 'forced' me. I had no other choice!"
Ling Lan was stunned on the spot, she had thought that Shao Mei Yun would mention the name of the person who started it all, she had thought that the truth would be revealed immediately, but instead, Shao Mei Yun said that it was the deceased Shao Hui who 'forced' her. What did Shao Hui 'force' her to do?
Ling Lan, whose thoughts were in disarray, still managed to maintain a gentle expression as she faced Shao Meiyin by the window. She was just about to open her mouth to ask something else when she almost bit her tongue.
A sudden scene that came out of nowhere made her whole body as if it had been cast a spell, unable to move. She could only open her mouth wide and stare stupidly at the black figure that suddenly appeared behind Shao Mei Yun's window.
It's a vampire! Vampires really exist!
Only a vampire can jump lightly to the third floor window, only a vampire has such a cold and captivating gaze.
Before Ling Lan was a black-robed vampire, his face was pale, red pupils appeared and disappeared in the messy hair, and the two sharp fangs on the bright red thin lips were gleaming with cold light.
The vampire didn't notice the astonished Sha Mei Yun by the window, but instead took another step closer to Ling Lan. With each step he took, Ling Lan's heart violently trembled, she was as if under a spell and couldn't make a sound, her feet were also nailed to the ground. At this moment, Ling Lan's world was spinning, she could only tightly close her eyes and wait.
Three seconds later, Ling Lan regained her composure and shouted out loud, "Mei Yun, stop him! Isn't he your friend? Quickly stop him!"
Sha Mei Yun indeed reacted, she opened her mouth and then hesitated again.
Just as the vampire was about to push Ling Lan out the door, she turned around and tried to open it to escape, but was caught by the dark figure's large hand. Ling Lan was like a small cat with no ability to fight back, easily scooped up into the tall figure's embrace. Then, just like in the movies, the vampire leaned his sharp fangs close to the slightly pulsating area of Ling Lan's neck.
