Chapter Seventy-One: Weng's Coffin
Having dealt with the corpse demon, Qin Feng and Zhou Qin continued on their way forward.
Perhaps Liu Qi had intentionally designed the passageway to be so dark, but after walking a distance, Qin Feng found that the surroundings brightened up, with a sense of dawn breaking.
"Qin Feng, have we exited the cave?" Zhou Qin turned off her flashlight and carefully looked around.
After walking such a long distance, they finally saw the light and Qin Feng let out a sigh of relief. Although he didn't know where they were now, the two of them still came to rest on one side of the mountain wall.
The surroundings are clear and transparent all the way to the top. Looking around, everything is clear. Perhaps looking up, there's no sky in sight, indicating that I'm currently inside a certain cave.
"Big Brother Zhou, we should be in a cave now. This must have been arranged by Liu Qi Fang beforehand." Qin Feng said.
"A cave?" Zhou Qin lit a cigarette, took a puff, and exhaled smoke.
"Right, look over there, it's endless. I think Liu Qi must have hollowed out these mountains beforehand to make it this way." After taking a sip of water, Qin Feng pointed to the passageway on the opposite side with his hand.
The surroundings are not very spacious, but the air circulation is good, indicating that this place is connected to the outside world. After resting for a while, the two of them tidied up and resumed their journey.
As he walked further along the passage, he found that the passage ahead was very long and winding, which made his head ache. Fortunately, Qin Feng's mind was clear and he didn't feel dizzy, after passing through two 360-degree turns ahead, Qin Feng found that what lay ahead was a "?" shape, as if he had entered a hollow area.
I don't know why, but this place is a bit chilly. The cold wind blows through the withered grass on the ground, making it look somewhat disheveled.
"Be careful, Big Brother Zhou, there might be some strange mechanism set up by Liu Qi here!" Relying on his keen intuition, Zou was able to sense that this place indeed had a trap laid down by Liu Qi.
Wild grass grows all over the ground, not very long, but enough to cover feet, occasionally there are a few bundles standing tall by the wall.
Qin Feng hurriedly took out two talismans to ward off evil spirits for himself and Zhou Qin in order to prevent danger from happening here.
There are many connected stone pillars around, which should be made to prevent collapse. Each pillar is half a meter thick and has already obscured more than half of the view.
The two of them carefully looked around every step they took, afraid that there might be something unusual. Qin Feng and Zhou Qin were both scared by Liu Qi's trap and had to be on guard. Every step they took could trigger the mechanism set up by Liu Qi, so now Qin Feng and Zhou Qin had to be vigilant and couldn't relax for a moment.
"Look quickly, what is it?"
In a moment, Zhou Qin pointed to a large pot beside the stone pillar and asked curiously.
Qin Feng turned his head and took a look, only to find that there was indeed a earthen jar with a greyish-brown color similar to that of an urn placed over there.
"How can there be such a thing?" Qin Feng was puzzled in his heart, and before he could speak, Zhou Qin had another discovery: "Qin Feng, there is one here too!"
Zhou Qin pointed to a corner not far in front and found that there was indeed another can identical to the previous one.
"These are..."
Qin Feng furrowed his brow and fell silent, pondering that these things must have been left behind by Liu Qifang, but he didn't know what they were or where to start.
After some thought, Qin Feng decided to walk over and open the lid to take a look.
It doesn't matter if it's not beaten, as soon as Qin Feng opened it and took a glance, his face changed immediately with a "pa" sound, quickly covering the lid again, and returning to Zhou Qiong's side. "Damn, this is a coffin!"
"An infant coffin? I've heard of it before, it's used in some regions to bury children... That can't be what's inside here..." Zhou Qin trailed off, but his meaning was already understood by Qin Feng, who nodded and responded with a "yes".
"It's really a baby!?" Zhou Qin was shocked, Qin Feng said yes, and in this coffin, the baby's body did not rot, probably because Liu Ji Fang had already cast a spell on it.
Zhou Qin didn't understand the reason, but he knew that since Liu Qi had set up these things, there must be a purpose. These two coffins were placed here without being buried, and it was clear that they had a purpose. Until today, although many years have passed, no one knows what Liu Qi did, but Qin Feng still guessed that there must be a mystery behind this.
The coffin is not large, about half a person's height. At the moment Qin Feng opened it, he already felt the influx of yin energy.
Now the four sides of these two coffins have been posted with talismans by Liu Qi Fang, it seems that there is a purpose.
As expected, at this moment, the two coffins began to move, shaking and vibrating continuously, with a sound that didn't stop. The spacious place was now shrouded in the vibration sound, and the collision sound of porcelain jars on the ground lingered for a long time. It lasted for three to five minutes, and suddenly there was a sound of the jar breaking.
"Oh no, the coffin is broken!" Qin Feng cried out in alarm.
"What's going on now, Qin Feng?"
"It's either good fortune or bad, but bad fortune can't be avoided. There's no other way out, and I'm ready to fight him!" Gnashing his teeth, Qin Feng steeled himself and raised his mountain cleaver, preparing to charge forward.
The two coffins burst open, and Qin Feng saw that there were indeed babies inside, but what shocked him the most was that these two pale and emaciated baby corpses did not have feet, they had snake bodies.
"What's going on, how can this be!" Qin Feng lost his composure because he had never seen such a technique before. He only knew that the coffin contained the corpse of an infant, nothing more. But now, seeing such a strange body shape, Qin Feng initially thought it was a snake spirit possessing someone. However, after taking a closer look, Qin Feng denied his own idea.
Along with the baby, dozens of triangular snakes unique to the Loess Plateau region emerged from the broken pot. The snakes were entwined with each other, spitting out their tongues, and their earth-gray bodies were almost indistinguishable from the ground, which also allowed them to hide.
Looking at the increasingly dire situation, Qin Feng subconsciously quickly pulled out sulfur from his bag and handed half to Zhou Qin. Qin Feng knew that this snake's venom was extremely potent and its aggression was very strong; if they didn't prepare something to counter it beforehand, being bitten might really mean going to see King Yan.
The snakes quickly dispersed around them, like a heavenly net, surrounding Qin Feng and Zhou Qin. Now the thorny problem was these many snakes, if they swarmed up together, it would be even worse.
"Damn it, give you guys a taste of sulfur!" Zhou Qin seemed to have prepared for this, grabbing a handful from the convenience bag and sprinkling it at them.
Sulfur really works, as soon as it's sprinkled on, the snakes seem to have met their nemesis and quickly avoid it. This time Qin Feng brought not much sulfur, but enough to drive away these snakes, scattering them east and west, and soon drove away this group of triangular snakes, leaving only those two human-faced snake-bodied babies.
