Chapter Fifteen: The Unthinkable Dossier
It's just early evening now, the sun hasn't set yet. If Lu Yifeng takes us to do something sneaky again, we'll definitely be seen by those villagers.
I was confused and didn't know where Lu YuFeng wanted to go. Lu YuFeng also didn't seem to want to explain, telling us to hurry up and pack so we could leave together.
We didn't walk in the village, but instead circled around the edge of Su Yuan Village. Since Panzi and I arrived at the village, we haven't had time to thoroughly explore our surroundings, so when Lu Yifeng led the way, both of us followed.
The road we walked on wasn't heading towards the back mountain, nor was it rushing towards the cemetery. Anyway, after about half an hour, we somehow managed to reach the end of this road.
In front of us was a rather steep cliff, below which was a small valley. Panzi and I both looked at Lu Yifeng, thinking to ourselves: what's the point of coming all the way here in the middle of the night? Is Lu Yifeng just going to shout "Hello, are you okay?" into the valley for no reason?
Lu Yifeng suddenly looked very serious, he looked around and said "This place is okay." Then he asked us to crouch down in a circle. When he came, he also brought his backpack, which he opened now, taking out a very strange electronic device.
This device looks like a small tablet computer, but with an antenna, and the antenna is quite long, standing up to half a meter high.
He turned on the device and had Panzi and me constantly adjust the direction of the antenna until a weak signal appeared on the device.
I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder when I saw this, it's much more powerful than my mobile phone. I didn't expect that in a place like Suifangcun Village, which is almost isolated from the world, it could still be useful.
This thing also supports touch screens, Lu Yifeng opened a software on it and typed out a sentence, "Ghost Hand Summon!"
I saw the words "Ghost Hand", and I thought to myself that this must be Lu Yifeng's codename. This isn't anything unusual, I had long heard that those special informants, as well as special agents and spies, all have a codename based on their individual strengths.
I've seen Lu Yu Feng use his iron ring to attack people, but if he's going by this nickname, he should be called Iron Finger instead. I suspect that Lu Yu Feng has other skills up his sleeve, and the martial arts moves in his hands are definitely not bad.
After waiting for about a minute or so, the communication device responded and a sentence was transmitted, "Ghost Hand, please speak!"
Lu Yifeng took out the note that Pan Zi remembered, printed out all the records about Liu Hui, sent them to the other party, and added a sentence at the end, "Help me investigate this person."
I was again intimidated by the privileges of special informants. For ordinary informants like us, investigating someone is almost impossible. Even if we really arrive at that critical moment, we have to report to the police station first and wait for them to handle it.
Lu Yifeng sent out this message and then sat on the ground with a thud, clearly bored. It was obvious that the other side's data retrieval was also a very lengthy process.
The wind in front of the mountain valley was very strong. Although we wrapped our clothes tightly, the wind still couldn't stop drilling into our bodies. Panzi and I both felt cold, so we squeezed together, huddled up, and warmed each other up.
During this time, Lu Yifeng glanced at us two, he didn't mean to "join in the fun". I found that his gaze on us was not quite the same, when he looked at me, he clearly showed a concerned expression, but when he looked at Panzi, he seemed much colder.
I've been thinking about the past and I feel that Lu Yifeng's relationship with me is not ordinary, especially since he has called me "Xiao Bai" before. This nickname wouldn't be possible if our relationship wasn't extremely close.
Another ten minutes passed and the communication device vibrated. Lu Yifeng was startled, hastily picked it up, and Panzi and I also gathered around to look.
Several lines of text were transmitted back, along with a photo. I looked at the photo first.
How to say, this photo makes people feel a bit uncomfortable, it's a particularly ugly and silly fat girl, with a black mole at the corner of her mouth, estimated to be over 20 years old.
I read this passage again, which says that the person is indeed Liu Hui. His parents had passed away, and he went out to work a few years ago, but there has been no news from him since then. He has already been listed as a missing person at the police station.
I'm a bit too used to it, but Panzi reacted half a beat late, or rather, he was lazy and didn't even bother to read the text introduction. He pointed at the photo and said, "It's strange, Liu Wei used to be so fat, but now she's become thin and beautiful. How did she do it? Especially that mole of hers, how did it move?"
Lu Yifeng gave Panzi a white eye and continued, "This is not a person at all. Liu Wei from Weichang Village is an impersonator. And I know one more thing, the police have been tracking a serial killer recently, and now there is evidence to suspect that this killer is hiding in a remote mountain village."
As soon as I heard the word "killer", my head buzzed. In the past, when we were doing tasks, we had dealt with culprits many times, but killers and culprits are clearly not the same concept, nor are they on the same level. What is a killer? In my understanding, it refers to someone who makes a living by killing people.
According to Ah Feng, Liu Wei is probably the killer. I thought to myself that Panzi and I were really unlucky, running all the way from Wuzhou City to look for clues on a murderer's body.
Pan Zi's face sank. I think since there is now evidence that Liu Wei from Suiyuan Village is an imposter, we should push this matter to the police and let them handle it. I also suggested this to A Feng, meaning for him to tell the person on the other end of the communication device to send out a team as soon as possible.
Lu Yifeng thought for a moment longer than I did, and hesitated before answering me, "The geographical location of Su Yuan Village is too remote. Not to mention police cars, even bicycles are not suitable for riding here. Even if the police rush here now, it will take at least two days to arrive. During this time, if fake Liu Hui has any discovery, she will definitely kill us first and then continue to escape."
Lu Yufeng finished speaking and stared at us two again. How could I not understand his little thoughts? He had the idea of letting the three of us catch fake Liu Wei, but I really didn't want to get involved in this muddy water, so I didn't respond.
If it were just me and Lu Yifeng now, his plan would absolutely not work, but the problem is, Panzi is also present.
This guy is really clueless, and then he asked a sentence, "A Feng, what you said makes sense, so what do we do next?"
Lu Yifeng chuckled, and as for me, I really wanted to stand up and kick Panzi a few times to vent my anger, and scold him again, "You're really a despicable beast!"
It's just as I expected, Lu Yifeng said he already knew the killer's method of Fake Liu Hui, and the murder weapon was in the back mountain. He went to investigate last night and found that relying on himself alone, his strength was a bit weak. He wanted to bring us two again tonight to tackle the back mountain together, and with our combined efforts, he had confidence in destroying the murder weapon. This way, the remaining Fake Liu Hui would not be worth worrying about. We could also make a name for ourselves in this mission.
Lu Yifeng has already said so much, what else can I say? I had no choice but to nod in agreement while pinching my nose.
He then packed up the communication equipment and quietly took us back to the village. By this time, it had gotten dark, and all the villagers were asleep in their homes.
After we returned to our residence, Lu Yifeng asked us to put on the windbreakers. He also took out thick cotton socks and leather gloves from his travel bag and told us to make sure that our hands and feet were wrapped up tightly.
I was puzzled why we had to do this, especially on a day like today. Wearing such thick and heavy clothes made me feel stifled. But Lu Yifeng didn't care about that, he just put on his backpack and told us to bring our flashlights and set off with him.
Before I left, I remembered something - that bone bell. This thing has been useless since we arrived at the village. I had a hunch that it would protect me and Panzi tonight. Anyway, the bell wouldn't sink, so I put the small gift box in my pocket with Panzi.
Last night we came to the back mountain, but only walked to this side of the small forest. Tonight, under the leadership of Lu Yufeng, we went deeper again. During this time, the back mountain was dark and gloomy, and both Panzi and I wanted to turn on the flashlight to borrow some light, but were verbally rejected by Lu Yufeng.
Finally we arrived at a place that I thought was quite eerie, here is a piece of waist-high wild grassland, but also several dead small trees standing in the grass thicket.
Lu Yufeng pointed at one of the trees and said to us, "Let's climb up this one."
I found that Lu Yifeng was purely a monkey, he carried such a big backpack and climbed up the tree with a swoosh, without any effort at all. I and Panzi couldn't do it.
The trunk of this tree is particularly slippery, I grasped it but couldn't get a good grip. We thought of a stupid plan, I stepped on Panzi's shoulder and let him stand up, I used this height to climb up and hug the trunk, then I put my hand down and let Panzi jump up, I pulled him up.
After we both found a tree stump to sit on, Lu Yifeng took out two large hooks from his bag.
This big hook also has another name, called iron eight claws, which is used by special police for climbing buildings, and the end of the iron eight claws is also connected to a rope.
Lu Yifeng handed the iron claws to us two, and then said the follow-up plan. When that deadly weapon comes later, you two will use the iron claws to hook it up and pull it up, I have a way to kill them.
I and Panzi both didn't quite understand, I was still thinking in my heart, listening to the meaning, this murder weapon can still come and go, what is this thing after all?
Panzi asked another thing, "A Feng, you let us two be in charge of pulling the hook, that's no problem, but what method will you use to deal with that deadly weapon later? Can you tell us?"
Lu Yufeng took out a large flashlight from his bag. It looked like a flashlight, but I knew it was actually an electric baton with incredible power.
Ordinary electric batons can only stun people, but this kind of electric baton, as long as it is electrified, can make people's skin numb and paralyzed.
Lu Yufeng told us to get ready, and then called us together, shining our flashlights towards the distance, but not continuously, rather intermittently, making the flashlight like a strobe light.
I'm completely confused, but deep down I can be sure that this flashlight method must be a means of bringing out the murder weapon.
