Chapter 8: The Dog Controlling Witch

The Rural Doctor of the Mountain Spirit

That morning, Wu Xian went out as usual. After I finished eating, I locked the door and left the house. Lately, I've been playing with Er Gou and others, and I couldn't stay in the house alone anymore.

I had just left the door when I happened to meet Er Gou and Niu Dan. The two of them walked towards me, as if they were looking for me on purpose.

I happily went up to greet them and found that both of them were accompanied by dogs and also held bows and arrows in their hands.

For rural people, hunting is a very normal thing. Especially in this small mountain village where I am, it's closed and backward, no matter how the outside world bans hunting, it can't be banned here. Moreover, people in the mountains rely on the mountains for food, and many families are still waiting to hunt and have a good meal.

I saw the attire on the two men and naturally understood what they were up to. I hastily went forward, took down the bows and arrows from their bodies, and played with them.

Two men smiled at me, and one of them said, "Let's go, together."

Although it's a rural area, the hunting tools here are not as primitive as I imagined. Apart from bows and arrows, every household has a shotgun. It's just that adults definitely won't let kids play with those things.

I immediately agreed to them and followed their buttocks running up. In a short while, we came to the mountain and turned back to see that there was no village behind us.

Two dogs and Niu Dan have been hunting together since they were young, just like two wild monkeys. As soon as they entered the mountain, the two of them quickly climbed up and down the trees with agile movements, and their bows and arrows were also used extremely skillfully. In no time, a hapless wild rabbit that happened to pass by was taken down by the two of them.

I saw it in my eyes, I was excited and hurriedly said to the two people: "Let me try."

Apart from the bow and arrow, the two of them brought another weapon, which were two dogs. These two dogs weren't big in size, but don't underestimate them, they had been trained by the village hunters since young, their skills were quite impressive.

For example, when hunting for prey, hunters will command the dogs to go around to the other side of the prey and bark loudly, while the hunter waits with a shotgun in place. When the prey becomes panicked and runs into the hunter's gun muzzle, the hunter can easily take it down with one shot.

I heard I also want to try, Er Gou walked over and handed me the bow and arrow: "Come on, mine is yours."

After finishing, he smiled at me and casually told me two key points about using the bow and arrow. He then pulled his dog forward. I was excited, quickly picked up the bow and arrow to try it out, and followed after him.

I had just taken a few steps out when I heard a rustling in the woods, and a small animal darted past. I was immediately delighted, and hastily took up my bow and arrow to give chase.

Just then, I faintly heard a drumbeat, the direction of the drumbeat was exactly where the little animal had escaped. I didn't rush to chase after the little animal anymore, turned my head and shouted: "Erdog, Niugai, come listen, what's that sound ahead?"

The two of them quickly ran over with the dog, and a series of rustling sounds came from behind me. When the two people and dogs approached and stopped, the rustling sound disappeared.

"What? Xiao Sen, where is the sound?" Er Gou asked me while tilting his head to listen ahead and turning back to ask.

"Don't move." I was just about to respond to Er Gou when Niu Dan suddenly let out a loud shout. Er Gou and I were startled, and we turned our heads to look, only to see that behind us, a wild mountain goat had appeared.

Although there are many game in this mountain, animals like wild goats have become extremely rare in recent years. Seeing this wild goat, not only me, but also the two dogs beside me involuntarily swallowed a mouthful of saliva.

"Grandma's, can't let him get away." Er Gou lowered his voice and cursed, taking the bow and arrow from my hand and raising it.

Just as he lightly pulled out an arrow from his waist, a loud drumbeat suddenly came from behind us. The drumbeat was very sudden and the sound was much louder than before.

Suddenly, the leaves rustled again. I was stunned because I saw that wild goat rushing towards us like crazy, colliding with all its might. Before I could react to what was happening, the two dogs brought by Er Dong and Niu Dan were already barking loudly.

The two dogs suddenly pushed me away, and that wild goat rushed right in front of us, almost directly knocking me flying.

Although the wild goat is not big in size, if I were to hit it, I would also lose half my life. After seeing the wild goat run past, I was still frightened and my heart was racing.

Just as I was about to turn my head to look at the wild goat that had just run past, a loud rustling sound came from the woods again. Suddenly, many wild monkeys and dogs appeared in the woods, in groups. As soon as they appeared, they ran directly past us, scaring the three of us into standing still with pale faces.

Half a response, I came back to myself, turned my head to look, and the wild monkeys and dogs running behind me were all like madmen, running in the direction of the drumbeat while shrieking.

"What's going on?" Er Gou was clearly frightened and stuttered as he spoke.

"There's something strange." Niu Dan looked solemnly in the direction of the drumbeat, and it was that person who had been pulled away while bathing in the river last time, with a footprint on his foot. Normally, he has a somewhat irritable personality and does things without thinking.

"Go, follow him and take a look." Niu Dan put away his bow and arrow, and then walked in the direction of the drumbeat.

I and Second Dog looked at each other, actually very unwilling to go, but Niu Dan took the lead, how could we not go?

We hadn't walked for long when the drumbeat sounded even clearer, and it shouldn't be far from us. At this time, we saw that the nearby woods still had small animals emerging one after another, all running in the direction where the drumbeat came from.

We continued to move forward, and after about 100 meters or so, a clearing appeared in front of us. In the clearing was a group of animals, including monkeys, wild dogs, and wild boars. All the animals were staggering around, standing still but constantly twisting their bodies, just like they were drunk. Seeing this made all our hairs stand on end.

In front of this group of animals, there was a man. He held a drum in his hand and beat it from time to time. The drum in his hand was only as big as a palm, tied at his waist.

Just as he clapped his hands and made a loud noise, a group of small animals on the empty ground actually moved slowly towards that person.

The next scene almost made the three of us scream at the time.

All of a sudden, after the man had beaten the drum several times on the empty ground, a wild monkey finally walked to his feet. And then the man suddenly pulled out a hammer from his body and slammed it hard on the monkey's head.

In an instant, a stream of fresh blood gushed out from the monkey's head and splashed onto the ground. The monkey instantly regained consciousness and let out a loud screech.

At the same time, when that man hit the monkey's head with a hammer, the animals on the empty ground also instantly regained their senses and made various calls to disperse and escape.

But before these animals could escape far away, the man started drumming again. As soon as he drummed, the animals immediately stopped and began to move slowly towards him again.

I and Niu Dan and Er Gou were all shaking with fear, hiding in the woods without daring to move.

At this moment, I saw the two dogs brought by Niu Dan and Er Gou slowly moving towards the empty space. Niu Dan and Er Gou hastily stretched out their hands to grab the rope, but the two dogs turned around and let out a loud bark at the two of them, almost pouncing on them directly.

The two dogs didn't bite the two people, but we were discovered by the person who was beating a drum on the empty ground. When I saw him, he was already standing in the woods, staring at us coldly.

All I saw was his face covered with red and white objects, which were the brains of the monkey he had killed earlier. Apart from that, this man's face looked extremely ferocious, and just one glance at him gave me goosebumps.

"Three little devils, don't know life or death." The man stared at us three, saying in a cold tone.

He suddenly raised the drum and beat it, and a loud noise immediately rang out in the forest. The monkeys and wild dogs that were waiting on the open ground all seemed to have gone mad, and after hearing the drumbeat, they turned their heads and rushed towards us fiercely.

"Ah, run quickly." Er Gou was the first to react, pushing me away and starting to sprint. I and Niu Dan reacted a bit slower, scrambling to our feet and running for our lives.

I don't know how long we ran wildly, the three of us used all our strength, but those small animals behind us were completely mad and chased after us relentlessly. As I was running, several wild monkeys scratched my face, leaving a big bloody mouth on my face, which was burning with pain.

Two dogs are worse off than me, they were directly knocked to the ground by several wild dogs. I heard his loud cry and hurriedly turned my head to look, only to see a wild dog opening its mouth, about to bite Two Dogs' neck.
