Chapter 2: Escaping from Death
The man is about thirty years old, wearing a black suit with a briefcase slung over his right shoulder.
It was exactly Xu Mo's first time on the bus, the person who drove the public transportation vehicle.
There must be a problem! Is this car going to have an accident? He remembered that the first time the car came over, only he got on the bus, and others stood still on the ground. Was everything just his own illusion? At that time, the driver was this person, indicating that the accident would occur after this person got on the bus?
Xu Mo didn't hesitate, suddenly jumping up from his seat and rushing towards the exit, "Open the door, open the door, let me off."
The bus door had been closed for some time and the bus had already started again. The driver, extremely displeased, said: "Where did you go just now?"
But didn't open the door for him and drove forward with the car still running.
Don't be too anxious, lift your hand to open the cover of the 'car door emergency valve', grab the valve and twist it, pull the car door open and jump out.
The driver was furious and scolded loudly, but Xu Mo ignored him completely. After getting off the car, he walked away to a distance before turning his head back to look.
The driver has closed the rear door again and started the bus, driving forward once more. It's moving steadily, not as if it's going to have an accident or anything.
"Could it be that I'm just overthinking things?"
That bus has already gone around a bend and will turn into another road after the turn, it can't be seen anymore.
Xu Mo couldn't help but sigh again. If it was just his own paranoia, this interview might be delayed!
He shook his head and was about to turn around and leave when a large truck suddenly came speeding out from the blind spot at the corner.
The bus driver was shocked, quickly turned the steering wheel, trying to avoid the heavy truck, but it was too late, and was hit by the heavy truck right in the middle, rolling over and tumbling out for dozens of meters.
A car dodged and weaved but was knocked open by a rolling bus.
Xu Mo stood frozen in place, unable to speak for a long time, still frightened, with a sense of surviving a disaster. After a long while, he finally came back to his senses, thinking repeatedly, and ultimately couldn't bear to give up that job, also feeling that it was impossible for him to be so unlucky as to encounter two car accidents in one day.
When the next car came over, he got on and headed towards the interview company.
As I passed the scene of the accident, I couldn't help but glance out the window and saw that an ambulance had arrived, with emergency personnel using a stretcher to carry the injured into the vehicle.
Xu Mo immediately saw the couple who were discussing themselves while waiting for the bus, both of whom were covered in blood and lying motionless on a stretcher. The man's neck was twisted 180 degrees to one side, and the woman's head was caved in on one side. Judging from their injuries, they should already be dead.
Xu Mo turned back, his face looked even more unsightly, if he hadn't gotten off the bus, he should be in the same situation as them now.
But just before that, what was going on with his own hallucination? Why did he give himself such a revelation and let himself avoid this car accident?
Omen? Prophet?
Xu Mo smiled wryly, if he had such ability, how could he end up in this situation today?
He didn't think much more, and the journey was smooth and uneventful. When he arrived at the station, he got off the bus, checked the time, and found that there were still over ten minutes before the interview. He identified the direction and immediately ran towards the factory.
He rushed all the way and finally arrived at the place on time.
The one interviewing him was a young woman in her early twenties, with an air of arrogance. She held Xu Mo's resume in her hand and glanced through it carelessly, only asking him after he finished introducing himself: "Have you done similar work before?"
Her tone was flat, but it always gave Xu Mo a sense of superiority.
This feeling made him feel extremely uncomfortable in his heart. He had wanted to say something good, but it was suddenly forgotten in the back of his mind. He shook his head and finally told the truth, "No."
"Oh!" The woman glanced at him faintly, "You've never done it before, what makes you think you can do a good job?" Without waiting for his response, she continued, "Do you know what our company does?"
Xu Mo said: "I have learned a bit about it, it's something related to producing steel pipe materials."
The woman did not nod or shake her head, and after a moment, she said: "If I give you this job, how will you arrange your work?"
"It depends on the actual situation." Xu Mo replied.
The woman asked again: "What is your life plan? How do you plan to develop in the future and what are the specific steps?"
"No plan."
Xu Mo shook his head, he could hardly eat a meal, let alone talk about long-term plans.
The woman seemed dissatisfied with his answer and stared at him for a long time before continuing to ask, "How much do you know about this job? Do you know what needs to be done?"
"Inspection, measurement."
"It's just that it's still not enough." The woman's expression became even more serious, and she continued to ask: "Do you know what QC, IQC, IPQC, QA refer to?"
Xu Mo finally couldn't help but secretly wonder, he knew some of these abbreviations, but what they specifically referred to was not clear. Knowing the meanings of these abbreviations would be helpful for personal work, wouldn't it?
He was taciturn and practical, so he didn't care about these things. Suddenly being asked, it took a long time to answer, and had to say reluctantly: "Not very clear."
The woman stopped asking questions, put away his resume and said: "You can go now, if it's suitable, we will call to inform you."
Xu Mo didn't say anything more. He had been through many interviews in the past few years, and judging from the look of things now, he seemed to have lost all hope. He stood up and walked out.
He returned to his residence, stood at the entrance, hesitated for a while, but didn't dare push the door open and go in.
He didn't live alone, during his university days, he had a girlfriend, after graduation, they lived together. However, for the past two years, he was down on his luck, and his situation got worse day by day, that girlfriend's attitude towards him also became increasingly cold.
This year, although they haven't broken up yet and still sleep in the same bed, she hasn't let him touch her once. Recently, she changed jobs and got promoted, and became even more hostile to Xu Mo.
This is an apartment building, with a very long corridor. The window at the end of the corridor was broken and cold wind poured in directly. Xu Mo wore thin clothes and stood still for a moment, feeling colder without moving. Finally, he couldn't bear it anymore and pushed open the door to enter.
His girlfriend's name is Li Qi, who fell from a high place when she was very young and broke her left leg. Due to lack of proper medical treatment, she has been left with sequelae, her left leg being slightly shorter than the right one, and walks with a limp.
It was during college that she took the initiative to pursue Xu Mo, and only then did they get together. After becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, she accompanied Xu Mo with great care, being extremely obedient, fearing that he would dislike her and dump her.
These two years Xu Mo's situation has been getting worse and worse, Li Qi's attitude has also undergone a gradual change, especially recently, it seems to have completely changed into another person.
It was Saturday, Li Qi didn't go to work, lying in bed watching TV, seeing him come in, glanced at him lightly and asked casually: "How's the interview going?"
"Not very good," Xu Mo replied.
"Oh!" Li Qi turned off the TV and stared at him, asking: "How did they ask you? Tell me."
Xu Mo had to recount everything that happened during the interview from start to finish. Li Qi listened and couldn't help but sneer, "You didn't do it, you didn't do it! You're really good at telling the truth. Didn't I tell you how to answer?"
Xu Mo helplessly said: "I can't tell lies."
"Can't you even do that?" Li Qi sneered, "Why don't you just die? You can't even handle such a small matter, what can someone like you accomplish? I was blind to have chosen someone like you in the first place." She looked at Xu Mo with extreme disgust on her face.
Xu Mo sighed inwardly. This Li Qi, recently when talking to himself, every time was like this. He didn't know how much longer their relationship could be maintained. After thinking for a moment, he continued: "I'll go submit a few more resumes, maybe other companies won't be so demanding."
"Are you going to send out a few more resumes?" Li Qi's face was full of disdain, "You can't even get an interview for this crappy job, what makes you think anyone else will want you if you send out more resumes?"
Xu Mo said: "If you don't try, how will you know?"
Li Qi seemed to want to scold again, but suddenly stopped and said nothing, continuing to watch TV with a cold expression.
The result was indeed unusual, and Xu Mo vaguely felt that something was wrong, but he couldn't guess what Li Qi's inner thoughts were, or perhaps he had guessed it, but didn't dare to think about such a terrible outcome.
The atmosphere in the room was oppressively stifling, and under this oppressive atmosphere, Xu Mo felt like he was having trouble breathing. After a while, he finally couldn't bear this indifference and left with one sentence, "I'll go submit a few more resumes."
He walked out the door and into the nearest internet cafe. The warm air inside was a welcome relief from the cold wind.
Rubbed his frozen stiff hands, turned on the computer, opened the webpage, and logged onto a job search website to look for suitable jobs and start sending out resumes.
He sent out dozens of resumes in a row, and only then did he stop. After getting off the computer, he thought about Li Qi's attitude towards him, but didn't want to go back, so he found an empty seat in the internet cafe and sat down, lost in thought.
The internet cafe has heating, it's much more comfortable than at home. He stayed until after 10 o'clock in the evening, when the internet cafe started its all-night service, and only then did he leave the internet cafe and head towards home.
Returning home, just about to push the door open and enter, I glanced at the house door, but couldn't help being stunned - the door was actually locked from the outside.
Isn't Li Qi gone out? It's so late, why hasn't she come back yet?
He was taken aback and suddenly remembered the expression on Li Qi's face when he left home, vaguely feeling that something must have happened.
Took out the key, opened the door and took a look inside.
Although he had long expected this outcome, he couldn't help but let out a cry of "ah".
