Chapter 67: What is Righteousness and Evil (Part 1)
A fierce gust of wind howled and swept across the vast and boundless secret realm. The purple mist was torn apart in an instant, forming large patches that twisted and rotated in the air before finally disappearing into the crimson sky.
A gust of wind mixed with the stench of blood came from somewhere, and everywhere that could be seen was a mess. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind swept down from above, stirring up swirling clouds of dust. In the pale red dust, a giant Qiong demon was barely folding back its pair of long wings, which were the same color as its feathers.
The giant creature stood firmly on the ground, its beastly eyes scanning the surroundings in a circle. Seeing that the purple crystal clusters around it had been chopped down haphazardly, with some lying flat and others standing upright, a flash of anger flickered in its eyes. As it looked closer, it saw that many bodies of its own kind were lying among them, and its pupils, which were originally as sharp as a date pit, instantly narrowed into two needle-like slits. In an instant, a brilliant purple-red light burst forth. Most of the Qiong demons had already been beheaded and lay soaking in blood pools, and even those who had managed to preserve their corpses intact were long since frozen stiff, devoid of any vital energy.
The Qiong demon was just about to let out a loud howl, when suddenly a faint cry drifted in on the wind. The sound was extremely soft and weak, like the call of a deer, with a hint of childishness. To the demon's ears, it was like a clap of thunder. The Qiong demon's furry ears twitched, and its ears stood up straight. It turned its head to one side, following the sound, and saw that behind a clump of damaged purple crystal stones, several clusters of dark purple feathers were visible, swaying gently in the wind. If it hadn't looked carefully, they might have been mistaken for part of the large expanse of purple.
The amethyst had long been cut down to just a short stump, revealing behind it a small Qiong demon. The living Qiong demon slowly stepped forward a few steps, its eyes showing a hint of confusion. The Qiong demon in front was stiff and rigid, with dull pupils that seemed to have died for some time. So who made the sound just now?
At this moment, the corpse of the Qiong demon on the ground suddenly moved, scaring the Qiong demon standing in front of it to jump back several steps. After cautiously observing for a while, it found that there was something under the abdomen of the corpse. As it approached, it hurriedly stirred.
After a while, the thing finally came out, and in a cluster of purple fluff, two small, round, shiny eyes appeared, along with a tiny pointed mouth. It looked like a cross between a fox and a wolf. The little creature's two paws struggled under the corpse for a long time before it finally managed to pull its hind legs out as well. As soon as it raised its head and saw the qiong demon crouching not far away, adopting a defensive posture, it let out another soft cry that sounded like a deer's call.
The Qiong demon heard the cry, and its beastly eyes contracted again, but in an instant they were filled with joy, and the defenses all over its body relaxed a lot. It hurriedly ran towards the little calf that was rolling and running over.
"Monster deserves death!"
A loud shout, the warm atmosphere that enveloped this small world was suddenly swept away, followed by a huge explosion above their heads. The busy and flustered Qiong demon hastily looked up, but it was too late to dodge, in its suddenly shrinking beast pupils, the last scene reflected was a magnificent purple light like a rainbow, with momentum like thunder.
That little Qilin cub had just escaped a disaster, only to meet its arch-nemesis. At this moment, all of its kin who had protected it were already dead, leaving it alone and frightened, unable to escape in panic, and it crashed head-on into a snow-white boot tip.
"Hah, Brother Xuanfeng, look at this thing!"
The owner of the boots looked down and burst out laughing, his long arm reached out and picked up the trembling ball of fur in his hand, as for the little struggle, he had already ignored it.
The young man called "Shixiong" by that youth was a handsome young man standing at the forefront of the crowd. He had a strong and tall physique, with broad shoulders and long legs, and was a head taller than the people around him. From afar, he stood out like a crane among chickens. When he heard his younger brother's call, the young man turned his head, and as soon as his eyes fell on the Qilin cub, his expression cooled by three degrees.
Xuan Ting pinched his hand seal in mid-air and beckoned, while walking towards the young man. The purple divine sword that had originally pinned the demon to the ground suddenly returned to its scabbard with a clear sound. He heard him shout: "Xuan Yun, do you think it's a rabbit raised by Su Xi in the back mountain? Hurry up and kill it!"
That young man was taken aback, and suddenly enlightened, shouting: "Could it be that this is the... offspring of a monster?" The face, which still had some childishness, originally had a few hints of pity for the weak creature, but in an instant changed to full of disgust. Looking again at the ball of fur on his palm, which was still trembling with fear, he felt as if even his own hand had been polluted, and with a flick of his wrist, he violently slammed it onto the ground.
"Ugh...".
The young Qilin was thrown to the ground and rolled around several times, its shiny fur instantly covered in dust. Its cries grew much weaker, and it seemed to be on the verge of death. The young man looked down and saw that the creature was still alive. He drew his long sword from behind his back, gritted his teeth, and cursed, "You monster, go die!" With that, he stabbed the sword downwards with all his might.
A mournful cry, like a lone lantern swaying in the wind, vanished instantly without a trace. The onlookers, male and female disciples dressed in blue and white robes, watched the young man's every move without intervening; not only that, but several of them even stepped forward to pat him on the shoulder, their faces filled with approval.
The young man saw his senior brothers and sisters nod slightly, the last bit of sympathy on his face also changed to coldness like others, he lowered his head again to look at the broken fur ball stained with blood on the ground, his lips twitched for a moment, finally twisted into a smile as pleasant as before.
He had just made a show of himself in front of his fellow brothers and sisters, and under the excitement, his brain seemed to be much more agile than usual. With a flash of inspiration, he smiled again: "Xuan Tong Shixiong, earlier when we followed Wu Ling Lao to kill so many monsters, they were all fierce and powerful demons. Now that we've encountered the demon's spawn here, it seems that their nest is not far away?"
Everyone was stunned, and they also looked at Xuan Ting. Xuan Ting glanced at his younger brother and nodded: "What Xuan Yun said makes some sense. Just now, Heavy Light Shibo led us to kill so many Mo Yao, and even killed a few of their leaders. It seems that these Mo Yao are already unable to resist, otherwise why did we move so many purple crystal stones back, but they didn't come to block us again? If so, it's great."
Those young disciples looked at him with a happy face, and one of them asked in doubt: "Brother, what's so good about it?"
Xuan Ting looked down at the corpses of the Yaoyao with disdain, and smiled: "Originally, Master Chong Guang only asked us to come and patrol, to see if there were any escaped monsters. Now, he has led us to discover the lair of these monsters, isn't this a great achievement?"
The crowd of disciples listened and nodded in unison, their faces filled with an uncontrollable joy, as if the demon cave was already right before their eyes.
Xuan Ting stroked his palm and smiled, saying: "Just now, Master had sent a message to me, telling me that the master of the demon realm had actually broken out of the demon realm and was currently fighting with the sect leader at Juan Yun Tai. He told me to inform Chong Guang Shibo, so we can divide our troops and take advantage of the demon's unpreparedness to destroy its lair. Now it's not urgent, why don't we go and scout out the location of the demon's nest first, and then go find Chong Guang Shibo? Wouldn't that be even better?"
Everyone was overjoyed and highly praised his plan, thinking it was truly ingenious. Those with impulsive temperaments had already eagerly drawn their swords, waiting for his order to mount their horses and set off.
Xuan Yun was also extremely delighted, his head hot with excitement, and couldn't help but say: "Senior brother, senior brother, those demonic creatures killed so many of our fellow disciples, just destroying their lair isn't enough to vent our anger. Why don't we chop these demons' corpses into seventeen or eighteen pieces, and when we find that demon cave, throw these corpse pieces in front of them, thoroughly intimidating them, letting them know what it means for evil to not be able to suppress righteousness!"
"This method of Xuan Yun... is somewhat too cruel..." Upon hearing the young man's enthusiastic proposal, a female disciple standing in the back frowned, thinking of that bloody scene, and revealed a hint of discomfort.
But this tone fell in the eyes of those other hot-blooded disciples, and it was not very timely. Before Xuan Yun could refute, a male disciple standing beside him said: "What's the point of being cruel or not to demons? When they killed our fellow disciples, did they show any mercy? The Master didn't say that those monsters were born to harm people, and if we don't kill them, they will continue to do evil. For the sake of benefiting all living beings, even using some ruthless methods is justified."
The words were met with unanimous approval, and the female disciple also lowered her head and remained silent. The other disciples then drew their swords and ruthlessly slaughtered the nearby corpses of the Qiong demons. Xuan Yun was encouraged and became even more arrogant, glancing at the ball of fur on the ground that was stained with blood and ash, his eyes lit up, and he chuckled: "Right, can't forget about it!" He then picked up the dead cub with the tip of his sword.
"How dare you!"
A loud roar, as if the scorching heat had finally reached its limit and was bursting out with a mighty force, sweeping towards the crowd of people on the ground with an overwhelming momentum.
The eerie fog was blown away by the hurricane once again, under the purple-red sky, a tall figure stood suspended in mid-air, with thousands of silver threads scattered behind his head, set against the man's eyes that were wide open with anger, and the vermilion markings on his face that seemed like blood, added to his eerie aura.
Xuan Ting was looking at the crowd of junior brothers and sisters chopping up the demon beast's corpse when he suddenly heard a loud shout, which also made his whole body shake. When he looked clearly at the face of the man on top, his expression changed greatly, pointing to the sky and shouting: "It's you!" He had killed so many Qiong demons with Heavy Light Elder, so he naturally recognized this humanoid demon as one of the leaders who led those Qiong demons to attack them.
Why isn't this demon supposed to be with the master of the demon world, charging up to the Cloudy Platform? Even if it stayed in the demon world, it should have gone to find trouble with Master Qingguang. How did it end up here? Xuan Tong stared with his eyes wide open, and although he couldn't understand why this demon beast had found its way here, one thing was clear: with the strength of him and his fellow disciples, they absolutely could not withstand the attack of the leader of the Musou demons.
How can this be good?
As they pondered, the white-haired Qilin demon slowly descended in front of everyone, its crimson cloak fluttering in the wind, occasionally revealing the golden spear that was wrapped inside. Suddenly, the cloak was blown to one side by the wind, revealing another slightly thinner and shorter figure behind it.
Xuan Ting was shocked at first, secretly lamenting in his heart. One monster was already difficult to deal with, and he didn't expect there to be another one. When he looked clearly at the figure standing silently with its head down, he realized that the person was wearing the same attire as himself. His surprise grew even more, and with a glance, he saw the sword hilt exposed on the person's back, sparkling like ice crystal. Suddenly, his shock turned to joy, and he shouted loudly: "Xuan Zhen, Big Brother!"
