Volume 1 Chapter 2: A Woman of Wu Xing Jian Zong
The pain in his mind had passed for a while. The memories that emerged, Jiang Feng had accepted. Only these memories were of no use. Because of the extra memories, most of them were about food. Another one that appeared the most was an old man with a head full of white hair.
"I wonder why I always see that idiot when I'm unconscious. Could it be a sign of crossing over?" Jiang Feng said, shaking his head and speaking in a depressed tone.
When it comes to Jiang Feng, he had a strange illness since childhood. That is, he would inexplicably fall asleep for no reason. To outsiders, he was just sleeping. But in his own eyes, he didn't sleep at all, but instead appeared in another world. And besides, he followed an idiot around.
In the twenty years of his life, Jiang Feng would almost every week fall into a deep sleep once or twice. Each time he would appear beside that fool. He had long been accustomed to all this. As for the affairs of that fool, he also understood quite a bit. It was precisely because he understood some things about that fool that Jiang Feng thought he had crossed over into that fool's body. Because of the extra memories in his mind, some were the same as the life of the fool he saw.
"It's better to be alive, after all. On the other hand, you're stupidly alive, but it would have been better if you were dead." Jiang Feng comforted himself like this. Thinking about the moment before he fell asleep, a truck was driving towards him. Most likely, he was run over by the truck and killed. Wanting to go back now is probably impossible.
After adjusting for a while, Jiang Feng began to look for a way out of here. This place was indeed like a huge cave. However, there was no visible exit above the head. Nor did he know where the light came from.
He casually picked a direction and walked forward with an air of nonchalance. What he was most worried about now was that when he saw people, he would be mistaken for a hooligan.
The road under his feet was fairly flat and didn't take much effort to walk on. This made Jiang Feng feel more and more that this wasn't a mountain cave after all.
After walking for half an hour, there was still no change in the surroundings. Neither did he see anyone nor find a place to leave this place. Just when Jiang Feng thought he was lost, something on his left front attracted him.
After walking over, Jiang Feng was startled. He hastily retreated. Because what he saw were actually human corpses. And not just one corpse either. Those corpses lay scattered all over the place, one next to another, stretching far into the distance.
"This shouldn't be a burial ground, right?" Jiang Feng said to himself.
Although he was afraid in his heart and had the idea of turning back, Jiang Feng didn't do so. He stood far away for a while before slowly walking over. He thought to himself that he would first take a look at how these people died, and also find some clothes to wear. Although they were dead men's clothes, it was still better than not wearing any clothes at all.
He cautiously approached the corpses, wanting to find some clothes. However, these bodies were basically all mummies. The clothes on them had also rotted away almost completely. For a while, he couldn't find anything wearable. On the contrary, when flipping through the corpses, Jiang Feng discovered that these people should not have died of natural causes. Moreover, they shouldn't be ordinary people either. Otherwise, there wouldn't be those broken swords and knives next to the bodies.
"This head was split open, that one was cut in half at the waist, this one has a big hole in his chest... could it be that all these people were killed by others?" Jiang Feng muttered to himself.
Although Jiang Feng is not a forensic doctor, from these corpses, he can still see that they died unnaturally. Coupled with the damaged swords and knives nearby. These people are likely to be warriors, or perhaps martial arts masters. It's also possible that they were those cultivators that Sha Zi had seen before.
He walked cautiously through the pile of corpses, occasionally muttering to himself about strange and inexplicable things. Suddenly, a corpse caught Jiang Feng's attention. When he first saw it, he even thought the person was still alive.
In front of him was still a corpse. Only this corpse was different, all the others were either dry bones or mummies. This was an extremely intact and plump-skinned corpse. If it weren't for the thick layer of dust covering the body, Jiang Feng would have thought that this person had just died.
The strange corpse was wearing tattered clothes. Jiang Feng casually pulled at them a couple of times. Originally, he hadn't held out much hope, but he discovered that the clothes and shoes on the corpse hadn't decayed like the other clothes had. This actually made Jiang Feng's face reveal a happy expression.
Take off the clothes and shoes on the corpse. Then, Jiang Feng prayed to the corpse again before hugging the clothes and shoes and walking to a place without corpses.
After dressing up, Jiang Feng looked at himself from head to toe. This was the only set of clothes he found that hadn't rotted away. But it wasn't a complete set either. The pants were only half left, and there was a big hole on the butt. Both sleeves of the shirt were gone, and there were several small holes elsewhere. As for buttons, not a single one remained.
The most complete one is probably a pair of boots made of unknown material on the feet. Although there are also broken places, fortunately, the sole is still there, and the size is just right.
"Let's just make do with it, and pretend I'm wearing shorts and a vest. It's better than nothing, right?" Jiang Feng comforted himself.
Looked around, still have to continue finding a way out of here. Before leaving, Jiang Feng said two sentences to those corpses. Nothing more than disturbing your rest. If there's a chance in the future, I'll definitely come back and let you rest in peace.
After walking a few steps, he kicked something with his foot. Jiang Feng lowered his head to take a look and saw something like a steel helmet worn by soldiers swaying in front of him. He picked it up with his hand and found that the thing was very light. It was also unclear what material it was made of. When he put it on his head to try it out, the size was just right.
"It's just a bit dirty, otherwise it would be good enough to wear as a hat. If the time is too long and no one can see it, it can also be used for boiling water and cooking." Jiang Feng muttered to himself.
With the idea of being able to boil water and cook, Jiang Feng put on this steel helmet-like thing. Just as he was about to move forward, he suddenly saw something out of the corner of his eye. Jiang Feng's whole body stiffened. Until he slowly turned his head to the left, a shrill cry escaped from Jiang Feng's mouth.
"Who? Who are you?" Jiang Feng shouted as he backed away. In the direction he was looking, a beautiful woman in blue clothes stood there staring at him.
After retreating a few steps, he saw that the woman hadn't moved, she was just staring at him. Jiang Feng hastily closed his open clothes with his hands and stood there holding onto his collarless jacket, looking back at the woman.
"What kind of person are you? Don't you know that scaring people can kill them?" Jiang Feng said.
The woman just stood there looking at Jiang Feng, her face expressionless. It wasn't until after a while that the woman finally spoke: "You look so scared. I'm not going to eat you. Besides, I've been following you for a while now, how did you only just notice me? If it were someone else, you'd probably be dead already."
"What? You've been following me for a while, how didn't I know. You... when did you start following me?" Jiang Feng said somewhat flusteredly. He could clearly feel his heart beating faster. As for the woman's melodious voice, it was directly ignored by Jiang Feng.
The woman showed a contemplative expression, as if recalling something and said: "You hadn't woken up yet when I arrived. It's just that I didn't come out, so you didn't find me when you woke up."
"Why didn't you come out earlier? Are you looking for a fight now? I've been keeping a vegetarian diet and staying away from women lately." Jiang Feng said, taking two steps back.
"Just now you didn't come out because you weren't wearing clothes. Now that you're finally dressed, come out and meet me. It's also good for you to know my existence." the woman said.
"Now I know you exist. Speak up, what do you want?" Jiang Feng said.
The woman took a step forward, walking towards Jiang Feng. Jiang Feng subconsciously retreated backwards. Who knew that the woman flashed by and disappeared in an instant. The next moment she appeared beside Jiang Feng, and even placed one hand on his shoulder.
Jiang Feng was startled and wanted to shout "ghost", but he didn't make a sound. Jiang Feng believed that at this moment, his face must have turned green.
"Don't be afraid, I won't harm you and will protect you. Your task now is to survive well. Then just find me." The woman's voice fell, and the whole person disappeared.
Jiang Feng looked around but couldn't find the woman anywhere. Just as he was thinking to himself that he really had seen a ghost, the woman appeared silently in front of him once again.
Before Jiang Feng could react, the woman grabbed his lapel. It was only then that Jiang Feng noticed the woman's face looked terrible, as if she was extremely angry. Instinctively, Jiang Feng removed the steel helmet from his head, ready to knock the woman unconscious.
"You... your body... you actually... I... I've been waiting for you all these years, and your body is actually..." The woman said incoherently. After a loud cry, she disappeared again.
He stood there for a long time, dazed, and didn't see the woman reappear. After letting out a sigh of relief, Jiang Feng quickly walked away towards the distance. Now all he wanted was to get as far away from that woman as possible.
After a short sprint, he didn't see the woman again. Jiang Feng slowed down and continued walking forward. Not long after, he saw light ahead. Overjoyed, Jiang Feng quickly ran towards it. When he got closer, he found that it was just a small opening that only one person could crawl through. The light was shining from the other side of the opening.
Without thinking much, Jiang Feng directly entered the hole. When he appeared on the other side, the light became much brighter. The ground under his feet was no longer bare stone, but muddy earth. There were also green grass and some low trees around him.
"It's finally out. It feels great to see the sunlight." Jiang Feng said as he turned his head to look at the hole he had crawled out of. When he looked back, his joyful expression froze immediately.
