Chapter 15 The Second Day

  Chapter Fifteen The Second Day

Lin Beigui walked back and forth, less than three miles away from Longtan, when he felt an unusually strong smell of blood.

"There are animals eating that wild boar!!" Lin Bei suddenly thought of the reason why this situation would occur, and immediately quickened his pace.

Lin Bei's sensory ability is now very strong. When he was still hundreds of meters away from the Shui Tan, he had already seen what animal was feeding. It was a jackal.

The jackal is not a wolf, but belongs to the canine family. Its fur is generally reddish in color and it's slightly larger than a dog. Its tail is very fluffy, and at first glance, you might mistake it for a fox. This particular jackal was a female with a bulging belly, but had been starved to the point of being skeletal. It was clear that she was malnourished. At this moment, she was frantically eating, having already torn open the belly of a wild boar, exposing its internal organs. The sight was extremely nauseating and the smell of blood was overwhelming.

Lin Beizhu stopped in his tracks, not going to disturb the wolf. Although Lin Beizhu had no good feelings towards this ferocious creature, it was pregnant and couldn't hunt for food due to its condition. In such a situation, Lin Beizhu was very magnanimous.

In the direction that Lin Bei couldn't see, six wild wolves pricked up their ears. These six wild wolves were somewhat familiar with Lin Bei and were the remaining six wolves from the pack he had killed in the afternoon. They caught a whiff of blood and became agitated, but under the low howl of the lead wolf, they turned around and left. The lead wolf sensed Lin Bei's presence.

The female jackal's belly gradually bulged, showing that it had eaten enough, but still greedily tore at a piece of wild boar leg meat. This female jackal hadn't had such a satisfying meal in a long time. During her pregnancy, she needed a lot of meat, but her body wasn't very agile and she lived alone, away from the pack. If it weren't for this dead wild boar, perhaps tomorrow this female jackal would become prey itself. However, with the support of this meal, its fetus should be able to develop smoothly. It has to be said that Lin Bei did a good deed.

As the female jackal had eaten its fill, Lin Bei finally revealed his figure. Snakes are almost all animals that can't make a hissing sound, so to intimidate the opponent, they have to use their body shape. When Lin Bei stood up straight, the female jackal had already discovered him and hesitated for a moment before dragging away a piece of pig leg with its hind legs, it saw that Lin Bei was not easy to mess with.

Most of the animals that have been intimidated will acknowledge that this place belongs to Lin Bei's territory, but there are also a small number that will not be so easily subdued, such as the wild boar that was just chased away. In short, if Lin Bei wants to have his own territory in the forest and not be disturbed by animals at ordinary times, he still needs to make more efforts on this road. The best way is to defeat all the beasts around one by one.

After the female leopard retreated, Lin Bei came to the side of the wild boar's corpse.

This wild boar is already an adult, with a very large body, roughly estimated to be over 300 catties. Although some of it was eaten by the female dhole, there is still a lot of meat left.

"It's all meat, and it's rare to see pure wild boar meat in modern times." Lin Bei sighed.

In modern society, many wild boars have been domesticated by humans. To put it nicely, they are still called wild boars, but to be blunt, they are just ordinary pigs that have lost their wild nature. There are no wild boars in the Double Tooth Mountain area. In fact, truly wild boars are now quite rare and only exist in places where humans rarely set foot.

Lin Bei was also interested in the wild boar meat, thinking about roasting the plump wild boar legs on a rack until they were crispy and oily. Just thinking about it made his mouth water. However, it was clear that Lin Bei couldn't do it now, so after some thought, he directly pushed the wild boar carcass into the small river. Lin Bei wasn't quite used to the thick bloody smell here.

After pushing it away, Lin Bei washed the land with water again, making the bloody smell much lighter. Only then did he roll up the wild boar's corpse that had been soaked in water and threw it a few miles away. There was no need to worry about the wild boar's corpse, as the meat would soon be eaten away. The jackal from earlier was just a pioneer, and even ants in the forest were carnivorous.

Back in Longtan, Lin Bei climbed the tree again. Although he was excited, Lin Bei didn't want to move. It was his first day in the forest and he was mostly observing.

Time passed slowly, and this night seemed a bit long for Lin Bei. Lin Bei's observation was very effective.

In the second half of the night, three bears came to the small river, one big and two small. One of the little bears had a lame leg, as if it had been bitten by something. The mother bear brought the cubs to the river to catch crayfish. They splashed in the water, stirring it up with their huge paws. If the crayfish or crabs couldn't take it, the moment they rushed out of their holes would be their last.

The three bears didn't leave until dawn, and before they left, the three water deer returned. The bears were not afraid of them because bears generally do not prey on large herbivores, so the two sides coexisted harmoniously.

Early in the morning was also a lively moment, Lin Bei saw a group of monkeys, swinging on the swing to come here by the small river, and then crouching by the river to scoop up water with their forelimbs to wash their faces and drink water. What kind of monkey species Lin Bei didn't recognize, anyway it wasn't golden silk monkey. The crayfish and crabs in the river were disturbed again, these monkeys don't eat meat food, but they will catch them and smash them to death, finally stepping on them a few times with their feet, apparently they didn't know they were wasting food, extremely shameful.

After the monkey troop left, the small river slowly returned to calmness. Although there were still some animals coming to drink water afterwards, they were only a few scattered ones. Even the old tiger that Lin North saw first came once, drank his fill, and then left. Lin North found that its belly was somewhat shriveled up, so it must not have had a very good harvest tonight, and could only rely on drinking water to fill its stomach.

"The natural resources are very rich." Lin Bei concluded finally: "Then this small river should be the only water source nearby."

Although the forest is humid, there are not many water sources formed. Herbivores and carnivores can extract moisture from plants and blood respectively, but it's definitely not as refreshing as drinking water. If the stream weren't the only source of water here, animals wouldn't come in such large numbers. Lin Bei thinks that his task to occupy this place is somewhat difficult, and to complete this task, he needs to offend all the animals nearby.

Then Lin Bei started sleeping. He didn't resist this instinct of snakes because now he had nothing to do and sleeping could make time pass faster.

Although it was very dangerous in the forest, Lin Bei still slept soundly and didn't know how long he had slept. Lin Bei was still awakened by the noise.

Opening his eyes, Lin Bei was shocked to find that there were several large eagles hovering around him. These eagles stared at him with piercing gazes, flapping their wings from time to time, appearing quite impatient. They seemed to think he was already dead and were preparing to take advantage of the situation. However, as soon as Lin Bei woke up, these eagles hastily flapped their wings and flew towards the sky. Among them, a young eagle that had clearly just left its nest was still struggling to fly, its skills not yet mastered. While the other eagles had flown tens of meters away, this little guy was still flapping its wings, its slow reaction making Lin Bei somewhat amused.

"Dude, you should be grateful that it was me who encountered you. If it were another giant python, you would have died here." Lin Bei silently said to the little eagle in his heart.

The little eagle finally flew away from the pagoda tree. As it was about to leave, its eyes glanced down at Lin Bei, and it didn't know that Lin Bei had let it off easy, so it probably thought it was mocking Lin Bei for being slow-witted.

To all of this, Lin Bei naturally wouldn't mind, stretching out his snake body and twisting a few times. The sun in the sky was hanging high, emitting endless light and heat. Today was another beautiful day, everything looked great, and this was Lin Bei's second day here.
