Chapter 20: Non-mainstream

  Chapter Twenty: Non-mainstream

Li Xian was stunned for a moment, then put away his bow and arrow, hung it on his back, and climbed up a smooth big tree with the agility of a squirrel. The branches of the coniferous trees blocked Li Xian's figure, but because they were high enough, if one didn't deliberately look, it would be very difficult to discover his existence.

A girl's shout scared Li Xian to climb up a straight pine tree, but he didn't think it was anything shameful. This is the border area between the You Rong and Khitan tribes, and Li Xian couldn't understand the language of the girl who shouted, so she must be either You Rong or Khitan. Less than ten miles behind Li Xian was the Blood Riders' camp, and as a grassland person appeared here, he had to be more careful.

He crouched on a tree stump, reached out to brush aside the branches in front of his eyes, and stared in the direction where the sound came from.

Time passed minute by minute, second by second. Li Xian's eyes stared fixedly in that direction without blinking, but after that one shout, there was no more sound. Li Xian, who was fully focused on the distance, didn't even hear the faint, almost imperceptible sound coming from behind him.

  "Hey! Han people! Why hide?"

The crisp sound is like the call of an oriole, but the abrupt one is like a wild wolf's howl in my ear.

Li Xian was startled by the sudden questioning voice in his ear, and he trembled for a moment. His foot slipped, and his body leaned forward, losing control of its gravity. He suddenly plunged forward.

  "Hey!"

As Li Xian fell from the pine tree, he heard a girl's surprised and flustered voice by his ear. Wherever his line of sight touched, he also saw a white and delicate small hand stretching out to try to grab him. It was just that he fell too fast, and that beautiful small hand futilely grabbed several times but couldn't catch Li Xian, the moon in the water.

Li Xian fell down on purpose.

So that person will definitely not catch Li Xian, because Li Xian is hiding from her.

Someone silently approached him, less than a meter away, which was simply a nightmare for Li Xian! If the person wanted to make a move on him, he was sure that he would have already ridden the bloody cloud to the Western Pure Land to meet the Buddha. If the person stabbed him from behind, even without needing to be so close to Li Xian before making a move, with the northern tribesman's skilled archery, they could have given him a fatal blow from tens of meters away.

So Li Xian fell down, completely an unconscious action. Although he had already thought that the incoming person did not have any malicious intent while falling, his movements could no longer be stopped.

The position he was in was at least seven or eight meters above the ground. If he continued to free-fall like this, even if the ground below was covered with soft snow that had been laid down just that morning, it would still be enough to smash him into a pulp.

In mid-air, Li Xian quickly slid the dagger out of his sleeve and grasped it in his hand, then stabbed it into the tree trunk with a sudden movement. At the same time, he bent his body, holding the dagger with both hands and pushing against the tree trunk with both feet.

In the fall, the dagger cut through the bark of the tree and fell a meter before stopping. The sound of the dagger cutting through the bark and the friction between the sole and the trunk was not ear-piercing, but it was shocking.

Li Xian, who had stopped in mid-air, did not remain still on the spot. He quickly glanced at the distance from the ground and within a second he confirmed it was safe. Then, with a flourish, he drew out his dagger, executed a handsome backflip, and landed steadily on the snowy ground.

He lifted his head and couldn't see the expression on the person's face on the tree trunk, but faintly heard a sigh of relief.

He understood the meaning of that sigh, and it seemed that the silly guy who had suddenly appeared behind him really didn't have any malicious intentions. Li Xian strained his eyes to take a closer look and found a small person crouching on the tree branch, wearing a white fluffy outfit made of some unknown material.

  "Are you okay, Han?"

A crisp greeting floated down from the treetops, spoken in a very sincere tone.

Li Xian raised his head and replied somewhat angrily: "If something happens to me, what are you going to do?"

He was glad he hadn't shot the wrist-mounted crossbow at the girl, and if it wasn't for the sudden thought that it was just someone trying to scare him in the second before he fell, he would have already pulled the trigger and left a few blood holes on that reckless guy. Fortunately, he didn't do so, and when Li Xian saw the girl's face clearly, he was even more glad that he hadn't ruined such an innocent-looking girl who seemed as pure as a piece of natural white jade.

"If you're injured? If it's a broken leg, then where is your home and I'll carry you there. If it's a broken arm...I will...I will, anyway no need to carry you. Uncle Uma is very good at treating injuries, definitely won't let you feel too much pain."

Li Xian glanced at his mouth and thought, "Is it that in your eyes, people only have arms and legs?"

He looked up at the girl about 7 or 8 meters high, thinking maliciously, see how you get down. But as soon as he thought that she could quietly reach one meter behind him, how could she not come down? So Li Xian pouted and muttered: "Jehovah, if you let her fall from the tree, I'll buy you a new cassock."

  "Ah!"

  A cry of surprise.

  "Haha!"

  A cheer.

It's unclear whether Jehovah liked the cassock and suddenly appeared from somewhere to push the girl down, or if the snow-covered pine branch was really slippery. The girl's white figure swayed on the branch for a moment before falling headfirst from seven or eight meters high.

Li Xian was smiling and dodged in time to avoid being hit by the girl, but he still subconsciously clenched his fists. In a split second, he convinced himself that when the girl was about to fall to the ground, he would push her away. To be honest, Li Xian really didn't want to catch the clumsy girl. Even if she looked petite and weighed no more than 60-70 kilograms at most, falling from a height of 7-8 meters would definitely cripple both his arms if he tried to catch her.

Before landing or give it a push, or kick it.

Li Xian thought, it's also considered benevolent and righteous.

Unfortunately, Li Xian found that he had thought of so many things in such a short time, all in vain. Comforting himself by saying it wasn't a case of seeing someone die without lending a helping hand, he couldn't help but swallow his words again.

Light as a swallow, the girl in white downy clothes, looking like a rabbit spirit, suddenly shot out a spider silk from her hand when she was about to land, and then this rabbit spirit who could spit spider silk stuck to the tree trunk like a squirrel. Li Xian's eyes widened instantly, his face full of incredulity.

The rabbit monster who spat spider silk was actually a squirrel.

Li Xian was startled by his own conclusion.

The girl slid down from the trunk, then retracted the spider silk into her hand. The action was quick, and the thumb-thick silk wrapped around her wrist like a snake. Li Xian subconsciously took two more glances, only to find that it was a whip, but he didn't know what material it was made of due to its bright yellow color. It seemed to have good elasticity, pulling force, and looked very soft.

"You scare me once, I'll scare you once!"

The girl took two steps forward, looking straight into Li Xian's eyes. Her eyes were very beautiful, slightly curved like a crescent moon, and with a hint of baby fat on her face, her skin was very fair, and there was a touch of blush on her cheeks that looked very attractive. But this redness wasn't applied, perhaps it was because the weather was too cold, or perhaps it was due to her exercise just now. Her eyebrows were curved, her big eyes narrowed into curves, and even her small mouth with its upturned corners was also curved.

She is surprisingly as tall as Li Xian!

Li Xian said, "It's really not embarrassing to be short, it seems like she's at least 14 or 15 years old, and yet she's still the same height as me! I'm only 12 years old!" Li Xian thought proudly for a moment, feeling good about his age for the first time. After all, if there wasn't a little girl who was tall, it would be quite frustrating, especially since this girl was very pretty, and that frustration would be even more intense, to the point where it wouldn't be just frustration, but self-doubt.

"Sorry, I guess you didn't scare me."

Li Xian took a step back, proudly like a rooster with its feathers ruffled.

"Why aren't you afraid when I fall down?"

The girl widened her eyes and asked: "Every time I pretend to fall from the tree, my grandfather is always frightened pale, and my mother always shouts loudly!"

She raised her chin and spoke with an air of pride.

  "Do you think that's fun?"

  Li Xian glanced at her.

Before she could react, Li Xian furrowed his brow and asked: "Yu Ren?"

Her response was a whip that swung over and struck Li Xian's shoulder, the sound of the whip slicing through the air accompanied by the girl's angry retort: "You're the one who's despicable! Your whole family is despicable!"

Li Xian quickly dodged, and couldn't help but feel annoyed at how this girl was flipping her attitude like a book. Just now she was playing the pure and innocent role, but in an instant she changed to play the queen bee, Li Xian found it hard to adapt for a moment, could it be that being a player is the same as being a virgin?

Li Xian dodged the whip while furiously asking, "How can you be so unreasonable, scaring people before hitting them? Do you think I'm your family's cat or dog?"

The girl brandished her whip and shouted: "I'm beating you because you said I'm a savage!"

Li Xian was also furious, and again slid out a dagger from his sleeve to block the whip. The flexible whip wrapped around the dagger but did not cut it off. He grasped the dagger tightly, then raised his left hand, revealing a wrist crossbow aimed at the girl's delicate cheek, shouting: "If you continue to be unreasonable, I'll shoot you!"

The girl in white clothes pulled a few times but didn't pull the whip back, her face turned bright red with anxiety.

  "You're bullying me!"

She didn't pull back the whip, suddenly let go of her hand and squatted on the ground crying, tears streaming down her face like pear blossoms in the rain.

Li Xian was suddenly furious, what kind of thing is this, how could he encounter such an unreasonable girl. He had clearly come out to help Du Gu's brother shoot the flying dragon, but instead encountered a unreasonable little girl. Li Xian lazily ignored her, tossing the whip on the ground and turning to leave: "Just by looking at your appearance, you look like a nonconformist, indeed unreasonable."

He walked while sighing, what bad luck.

The Khitans called their father "Ye Ye" and their mother "Niang Niang.

PS: I've tried to write something emotional, which is rare in "The Legend of Qin". The story of "Qin" mainly focuses on war and politics, but I still want to fill the gap in the emotional aspect. This is my first attempt, so it may not be very good. Please bear with me.
