Chapter 2: The Destitute Family
"Where did I cross over to?"
Just as Wu Qing was struggling with this matter, a woman in a gray skirt finally walked in.
The woman's skirt was full of patches, a simple living woman, looking at her face was only about thirty years old, but there were already white hairs on both temples, yet she was very beautiful. The woman looked worried, staring at the child on the couch, and her eyes showed affection. The woman stretched out a slender hand to gently stroke Wu Qing's face.
Wu Qing felt a kind of tender love, that was motherly love, warm and comforting, making him feel like he didn't want to get up again, being enveloped in it.
Wasn't the body she occupied her child? Wu Qing's narrowed eyes opened.
The woman saw him and burst into tears, "Qing Er, you've finally woken up! I was so scared to death for you. The doctor said you wouldn't make it, but I went to Guan Er Ye's place to burn incense, and it really worked!"
The woman's tears dripped onto Wu Qing's neck, wet and soggy. Wu Qing was at least certain that he didn't cross over into the war-torn Three Kingdoms era, because Guan Yu's statue was enshrined in the temple.
The logic of "it's better to be a peaceful dog than a chaotic person" is still very clear to Wu Qing, although it may seem unfair for a traverser. But isn't it better to be a rich man in a peaceful era? Surrounded by beauties, no longer just a lonely soul. But what era is this after all? The three-year-old him wanted to ask but didn't know how to ask, and he didn't want to stir up shocking things. Keeping a low profile and working hard for money is the way to survive.
The woman, after a good cry, also vaguely knew that she was originally thrown down and killed by an old horse of a retired soldier from the east end of the village. Originally, the old soldier was just teasing the child, but the old horse suddenly got frightened and threw Wu Qing down to his death, and happened to be occupied by Wu Qing's body.
Is this a coincidence? Wu Qing couldn't help but fall into deep thought, two people with the same name and surname from different time and space, yet having such similar things happen to them, it's truly unimaginable.
"Warrior's daughter, I've come to see Qing'er."
A worried voice of a woman came from outside the door.
"Is it a martial family daughter? Hopefully not the Wu Dalang's family, that would be tragic!" But thinking of Wu Dalang's wife Pan Jinlian who seemed to be infertile, I felt slightly relieved. After all, there are still many people with the surname Wu in this world.
"Xu's wife said, her voice full of worry: 'Xu's daughter-in-law woke up, but she doesn't call out for her mother, I don't know if she was injured from the fall.'"
"Pffft! Pffft! Pffft!"
"Hey, young lady from the Wu family, don't say such unlucky things! Qing'er has been with me since she was a kid, and she's really clever. Here are four eggs, I'll make two steamed egg buns for her later, and she'll definitely be fine after eating them."
"How can this be, Mrs. Xu..."
Lying on the couch, Wu Qing felt a wave of emotion, "It's been a long time since I've had my mother's steamed eggs, but this time, it's for a lifetime." As he thought about it, tears began to flow from the corners of his eyes.
Three days later, Wu Qing finally called out "mother" and got out of bed. His thin body was like a skeleton, and although the weather was hot, his jacket was patched with layer upon layer of patches. The word "poor" deeply hurt Wu Qing.
How can this be? How can this be?
Why did others cross over to become a prince or at least a wealthy family's child, while he crossed over into an extremely poor household? How could this small body support the great dreams of a crosser? But what can a three-year-old do? Recite two Tang poems and shock the world with one cry? He doesn't even know which dynasty it is yet.
As a chemical engineer who has been in the industry for several years, he really didn't know what a three-year-old could do, and if he were to actually work on chemistry, it would be too unrealistic. For a moment, sitting in the courtyard, he couldn't help but feel dazed. To survive in this world is indeed a problem.
"Brother of the Martial House!"
A clear voice came from outside the fence, a small head popped out, it was a little girl, only about three years old, with two small braids, looking very cute, stretched out her hand and couldn't help but touch the hair on top of her own head, smiled helplessly.
"Brother of the martial arts family, I've come to see you."
The little girl ran up to him, stretching out her hand from behind, and in it was a dirty little hand holding a bird's egg. Wu Qing didn't know what kind of bird's egg this was, but he knew for sure that it wasn't a chicken egg.
"Here you go! Eat up and get better soon."
The little girl's tender voice instantly moved Wu Qing, what kind of era is this? So innocent, so sincere, it really makes people feel like they can't help but shed tears.
At this time, the lady of the Wu family walked into the yard, saw this scene, and smiled: "It's actually Old Three, you came to see Qing'er, really clever." Seeing the little girl holding a bird egg, she couldn't help but frown and say: "You've stolen your father's bird egg again?"
"I didn't, Auntie Wu. I told my dad and he promised me." The little girl's childish voice was arguing, sounding very anxious.
Wu Daniu was just incidentally educating, putting down the basket, Wu Qing saw clearly that it was all wild vegetables. Wu Qing sighed in his heart, life here seems to be even more impoverished than imagined, eating wild vegetables now.
After chatting with herself for a while, Wu Dangnu took the basket and went into the house to cook. Wu Qing, on the other hand, carefully examined the courtyard, which was surrounded by a fence made of branches and had three earth-shed cottages inside. The middle one was the bedroom for mother and son, the left one was the kitchen, and the right one was piled with miscellaneous items, which were actually just some collected junk.
Wu Qing's heart was extremely gloomy and sorrowful. He really wanted to curse heaven, why was it like this?
Looking at this girl called Lao San, Wu Qing's eyes showed an unseasonable tenderness, if he had been more promising in the past, his child should be about this big now.
Pulling Laosan's hand, he asked: "Lao San, what is your name?"
"This question is quite surprising, Lao San seems puzzled, thought for a moment, still can't figure out what's wrong, so he replied: 'Wu Jia brother, have you forgotten? You're the one who called her Little Sakura.'"
"What's wrong?" Wu Qing was taken aback.
"Listen to my mother, I was born under a cherry tree, and my father gave me the name Xiaoying." Lao San explained, although his words were not clear, Wu Qing still understood, it's all because of her own heart. But why not call herself Shu Xiaoying?
Suddenly, Wu Qing had an idea in his mind and blurted out, "My team, my squad!"
This idea was also formed in an instant. He wanted to build his own team, a team that had been cultivated from a young age, and he believed that the loyalty of such a team would be very high.
It was also at this moment that Wu Qing finally had a goal to strive for, which was to build a team from scratch. He believed that there must be other children in the village who were around his age, or perhaps even older, and he hoped to establish his own business empire in this era.
"Brother Wu Jia, what's the topic and what's the team? Brother Wu Jia isn't going crazy, is he?"
"Your brother is not crazy!"
Wu Qing grasped the dirty little hand that was placed on his forehead, although his body was small, but in fact he was not young anymore, being touched by a little kid like this, he still felt some unwillingness in his heart.
Lunch was a wild vegetable soup, Lao San ran away very sensibly, Wu Qing swallowed it with great difficulty, and all of this was seen by the lady of the Wu family.
