Chapter Three: Looking Back is Already a Hundred Years
This young man named He Tianci, his hometown is in Northeast China's Liaoning Province. He studied at an agricultural university in Nanjing. Due to the difference in teaching quality between Liaoning and Jiangsu/Zhejiang provinces, he was at a disadvantage after entering university, and his grades were not very good, but not bad enough to fail, just like other college students, living a repetitive and monotonous life every day, although it's not as tiring as high school, it seems like he suddenly lost his goal, and the people he saw in the university seemed like zombies.
Due to the intense pressure of employment, there are many university students but few talents. Although He Tianxi liked liberal arts and management, he still chose a special technical field - veterinary medicine. Originally just wanting to learn a skill, unexpectedly returning to the past brought him an unexpected adventure. So, learning one more skill is always useful, believe in Tianxi, Tianxi can travel through time.
In such a dull and repetitive university life, in order not to lose direction, Tianyi placed his spiritual dependence on the Christian faith given by his mother. In his free time, he would read the Bible, seeking spiritual sustenance, and slowly integrating Christian beliefs into his daily life. (Tianyi's suggestion: even if you're not a Christian, it's worth reading the Book of Proverbs in the Bible, as I think this book teaches people how to live and behave.)
His mundane life had been unchanged until one evening, Tiancai read Ecclesiastes 1:19 "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again." After falling asleep, he vaguely saw an old man with a western-style robe appearing above him. The old man's face seemed to be filled with kindness, benevolence and uprightness. Was it Jesus? Before Tiancai could utter the words, the old man waved his white sleeve, and a strong light shone directly on Tiancai, as if coating his body with layers of gold. The old man smiled at Tiancai again: "Child, walk safely, there will be an era that suits you."
It wasn't long before He Tianxi arrived in the late Qing dynasty's Fengtian Town, Anxian County (now Jinzhou, Liaoning Province). Perhaps due to the enormous energy required for time travel, he fell into a deep coma after arriving. A kind-hearted Northeastern woman rescued him and took him to her home. Seeing He Tianxi's unusual attire, she was initially shocked, then carried him to the kang in the west room and hastily lit the fire.
This kind-hearted northeastern sister-in-law was searching for something around the house, looked around hesitantly and took out a small handful of millet, saying to herself with a sigh: "Alas, there's no way out, big brother can only suffer now. There's nothing left to eat at home, just this last bit of gaoliang (a dialect from Liaoxi, referring to millet) is gone, and I'm also helpless! Resign yourself to fate! Those Russian devils and Japanese little ghosts are all no good things, our family has lost everything, even the cats and dogs were killed and eaten." After speaking, a thread of tears remained at the corner of her eyes.
Inside the house, Da Sao had already prepared the meal. Seeing He Tianxi somewhat sober, she reached out to support him and said: "Big brother, looking at you like this, it's probably been several days since you've eaten, right?" After speaking, she helped He Tianxi to the table. He Tianxi looked around at his surroundings and then at the woman with a weak tone and said: "Thank you for saving my life, I don't know where this is or what time it is."
The elder sister looked at He Tianxi and asked such a ridiculous question, she couldn't help but burst out laughing loudly, laughing and saying: "I say big brother, are you really starving to the point of dizziness? This is Fengtian Town, An County, now it's Guangxu 30th year, come eat some food, I think you're really starving to the point of dizziness."
He Tianci was shocked, could it be that it wasn't a dream? He had actually traveled through time and space. He Tianci looked around curiously again, the woman who had saved him was wearing a simple white linen robe made of coarse hemp fabric. Looking at the decorations in the room, this feeling became even stronger, the old wooden window frames were pasted with paper windows, and inside the house, kerosene lamps were still lit, especially the unique northeastern kang bed, several worn-out long benches were neatly arranged on the ground, the decoration of the house was just like what he had seen in the Republic of China TV series, it seemed that he had indeed traveled through time.
Others who travel through time generally have golden fingers, but I don't have anything. Well, let's just follow the will of heaven. Anyway, I still know a bit about the timing of some major historical events, which might be enough. In this era, I'm basically a "great prophet".
He Tianci was deep in thought, when he suddenly felt a surge of hot air in his mouth. He only heard the voice of his elder sister-in-law; "Big brother, what are you thinking about? Why aren't you eating? Your body is so weak, what will you do when the old devils and little ghosts come?"
He Tian's mouth corners slowly hooked up a faint arc, smiling and saying: "Really, thank you sister for the trouble, thanks!"
The elder sister helped him up, blew on the bowl of rice and said "Big brother, just say a few less words, don't bother with that nonsense, say two fewer sentences, come and eat some more for me."
He Tianci had just finished eating and was about to lie down when the sound of horseshoes came from outside the gate, and his sister-in-law rushed to the door and looked out.
Outside the gate, a group of Japanese cavalrymen had dismounted and were rushing into the courtyard with an air of ferocity. Big sister appeared somewhat flustered, exclaiming: "No! No! It's no good, big brother, quickly hide, the little devils' cavalry have entered the yard!"
After saying that, he quickly supported He Tianxi and walked towards the backyard, hiding He Tianxi in a large wine jar in the backyard, and then covered the wine jar with a rolled mat. He instructed He Tianxi: "Big brother, no matter what happens later, you must not come out." After finishing speaking, he left without looking back.
Perhaps it was destined that someone would die on this unfathomable night, the air in the sky seemed to suddenly condense, and despite hiding in the wine jar, He Tianxi still felt a chill, which seemed to come from the deep-seated fear within his heart.
The elder sister hid He Tiancai in a wine jar and quickly hid in the firewood pile. The little devil held a bayonet and stabbed randomly along the way. A Japanese soldier ran to the firewood pile to urinate, and after finishing, he used his bayonet to open the bundle of firewood, only to find that there was actually a young and beautiful woman hiding inside. This Japanese devil's beastly nature was greatly aroused, and he exclaimed with joy: "Oh, flower girl, flower girl..."
Several Japanese soldiers rushed forward, dragging the woman out. The strong-willed woman kicked and bit, but her struggles were no match for the brute force of the five Japanese soldiers who had lost their humanity. She was stripped of her clothes and roughly lifted onto the Eight Immortals table...
He Tianxi clearly heard the woman's cries and mournful wails from inside the large wine jar, a sound that pierced his heart like sharp swords. He felt as if his heart was being cut with a knife, the pain tearing him apart. He wanted to rush out and kill those beasts, but found he didn't even have the strength to crawl out. At this moment, He Tianxi felt utterly hopeless, cursing himself in his heart: "I, He Tianxi, am nothing but a useless piece of trash!" Tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.
