Chapter 5: Hunters Warehouse

  Chapter 5: Hante's Warehouse

Zhao Zhi left the casino and hailed a rickshaw, aimlessly wandering around the concession for a while, making sure no one was following him before checking into a relatively clean hotel. The note written by Hunter had already been burned by Zhao Zhi, but he had memorized the address inside.

One night without a word, Zhao Zhi slept well and simply ate something. He called a yellow cab to go to the place Han Te said. As a sniper, Zhao Zhi would carefully observe the terrain before taking action, so that he could have a way out in case of an emergency. Having only met Han Te once, Zhao Zhi didn't want his fate to be controlled by someone else's hands.

The address Hanter left was a warehouse on the dock in the concession, with one side facing the sea and open terrain, making it a defensible position. 200 meters away from the warehouse, there is a teahouse, where Zhao Zhi is currently on the second floor, and can see the warehouse mentioned by Hanter through the window. Drinking tea, eating snacks, holding today's newspaper in his hand, Zhao Zhi felt like he was back in his previous life. When he had no tasks, Zhao Zhi would spend time in his own apartment in New York in a similar way, only now with less music.

It was just lunchtime, a Ford sedan drove towards the warehouse, it was Hunter. Following Hunter into the warehouse were two burly men, who looked like they should be bodyguards. After re-examining his Southern pistol, Zhao Zhi slowly walked out of the teahouse and headed towards Hunter's warehouse.

"This is a private place, please leave." The driver in the Ford car looked at Zhao Zhi's suit and leather shoes and spoke more politely.

"Ah, I was just asking for directions." Zhao Zhi muttered to himself as he continued walking. "I was just going to ask..." Zhao Zhi's voice grew fainter and the driver couldn't hear him clearly, so he stuck his head out of the car.

"Don't shout, don't make a sound." Zhao Zhi's hand shook and he had already pulled out the southern-style handgun from his waist and pressed it against the driver's head. "Honk the horn, call the people inside to come out." Zhao Zhi commanded calmly. The Ford car's horn was sounded by the terrified driver, someone came out of the warehouse, but Han Te wasn't seen.

"Qī Láng, what are you doing? The boss said he's going to deduct your wages." The person who came out of the warehouse didn't notice Zhao Zhi standing beside the Ford car and just kept talking to himself. "Who are you?" As he walked closer, he finally noticed Zhao Zhi with a smile on his face standing by the car, took a step back, and pulled out a sharp knife from his waist.

"Ah-Dai, don't come over, this guy has a gun!" The driver who was blocked in the car suddenly shouted. The guy called Ah-Dai was stunned for a moment, turned the sharp knife in his hand, and pointed the blade at Zhao Zhi, "Let Qī Láng go, we'll let you leave." The sharp knife in Ah-Dai's hand glinted with cold light in the sunlight, looking narrow and sharp. The sharp knife kept spinning under Ah-Dai's hand, obviously this Ah-Dai was a master of using knives.

"I'm looking for your boss, Hant. Go tell him that Lightning has arrived." Zhao Zhi smiled slightly, put his pistol back into his waistband, and spread out his hands to indicate he meant no harm.

Zhao Zhi rushed into the warehouse, and Han Te came out to greet him. He hadn't expected Zhao Zhi to be in such a hurry, coming here in broad daylight. "Mr. Lightning, hello! Didn't we agree to meet at night? What's the rush?" Han Te led Zhao Zhi into the warehouse.

"Anyway, I didn't have anything to do, so I just came over to take a stroll, and then I saw you here, so I couldn't help but come over and say hello." Zhao Zhi wasn't lying, he really did come here with nothing better to do.

"Alright, since I'm here, I'd like to take a look at your coffee pot first." Ignoring the two burly men standing behind him, Zhao Zhi plopped himself down on the sofa in Hart's office, with his legs crossed.

"I don't know, what kind of coffee pot do you need?"

"Are there any original German 98K sniper rifles? I want one with a white light scope. And I also need two Colt M1911 automatic pistols." Zhao Zhi readily said what he wanted.

Hunter's eyes flickered, "I have handguns in stock now, but the sniper rifle you mentioned will have to wait until the next ship arrives. I originally had a few on hand, but they were just sold out a few days ago. The ship from Germany won't arrive until next month."

"I'm just asking if you have one, not that I want it now. First, bring the handgun over and let me take a look." Zhao Zhi put his feet on Hunter's office desk, adjusting himself into a more comfortable position.

Hunter walked out of the office, made a turn and came back with a red wooden box in his hand. "This was originally for someone else, but since you need it, I'll give it to you first." Hunter solemnly placed the box on the table, with a hint of reluctance still in his eyes.

The box brought by Hunter was carved out of a whole piece of red wood, with some patterns carved on the surface and sides, making the entire box look very dignified and substantial.

"Okay, let me take a look." Zhao Zhi pulled over the large box and opened the lid. "Ah!" After taking a clear look at what was inside the box, Zhao Zhi couldn't help but exclaim in surprise. Inside the wooden box lined with red velvet were two black 1911 handguns arranged side by side. The pure black body of the guns had a great texture against the red velvet background. The grip of the handgun wasn't made of engineering plastic like Zhao Zhi had seen before, but was instead made of high-quality walnut wood, feeling extremely good in his hand.

Zhao Zhi took out the pistol from the box, cocked it with a clunk, feeling the force and stroke of the spring, trigger, and hammer. His skilled movements made Hunter's eyes flash with interest, saying: "Looks like you're a gun expert. The walnut handles of these two guns were hand-polished, originally I was going to give them to Mr. Du Yuesheng in Shanghai, but unfortunately, Mr. Du is not in Shanghai now, so the guns have never been sent out."

Zhao Zhi spun the guns in his hands a few times before turning to Hunter, "Alright, how much for these two?" Hunter bowed slightly, "Each one is $200." Zhao Zhi didn't bother haggling with the sly merchant, pulling out the cash from his pocket and counting out $500 as he handed it over to Hunter, "The extra is for coffee beans. I also need a place to test fire them and some gunsmithing tools."

Han Te smiled and pushed the money back in front of Zhao Zhi, shaking his head repeatedly. "Consider these two pistols a gift from me."

"If you have anything else, just say it." Zhao Zhi put on a serious face and stuffed the $500 into Hunter's pocket. Zhao Zhi carefully placed the bullets Hunter brought onto his fingertips, selecting suitable ones, and this method of his made Hunter secretly admire him.

"Don't forget I want a 98K sniper rifle." Zhao Zhi Lin threw down these words as he walked away.

"I'll send a telegram to Germany right away and arrange for the things you need to be shipped over as soon as possible." Han Te had thought Zhao Zhi would take advantage of him, but instead Zhao Zhi paid in cash, so now Han Te was willing to accommodate Zhao Zhi's every request.
