Chapter Eleven: Tanks (Seeking Collection)
Shan Yixuan took a glance outside and thought to himself, "Those little devils wouldn't actually plan on using a mortar to deal with me, would they?" As he looked at the dozen or so Japanese soldiers setting up the mortar outside the clock tower, Shan Yixuan's heart sank. He had never expected them to use a mortar to attack him; this was really overkill!
"Listen up, you inside! The Imperial Army is giving you one chance. Otherwise, you'll be buried with this bell tower!" a devil shouted at the bell tower.
Shan Yixuan snorted, thinking to himself that these bastards would never be spared if he were still alive. Shan Yixuan raised his gun and took aim at a Japanese soldier who had just finished preparing the mortar. With a loud "bang", the soldier fell to the ground. Looking at the shells behind the fallen soldier, an idea suddenly struck him. He thought to himself that there was no way heaven would continue to make him so unlucky, after all he was Shan Yixuan!
Shan Yixuan's gun muzzle aimed at the mortar around him, and with a slight smile on his lips, he said, "I'll send you off first!" With that, Shan Yixuan immediately pulled the trigger. The moment the bullet was fired, Shan Yixuan almost saw the result. "Boom! Boom..." A series of explosions erupted from the surrounding area where the artillerymen were located. More than a dozen Japanese artillerymen were blown into the air by the shockwave of the explosion. The intense vibration made Shan Yixuan feel like he was going crazy, and it had been a long time since he had felt this way on the battlefield. Shan Yixuan clenched his fist and laughed, saying, "Haha! You little devils, Grandpa me isn't that easy to kill!"
After the huge explosion, Qingteng Yimudong moved to protect his deputy, who got up with a gray head and dusty face, saying somewhat nervously: "Your Excellency, you... are you okay?" Qingteng Yimudong frowned, waved his hand at his deputy and said in a low voice: "I'm fine! I underestimated this person, it's all my fault, I was too careless!" Qingteng Yimudong looked at several soldiers who had been blown to smithereens and sighed.
"What to do now?" Di Yixuan's strength was beyond their expectations. They thought that a few rounds of artillery fire would be enough to sweep the battlefield, but this man had taken out one of their own artillery squads! All the Japanese were filled with fear and panic in their hearts. From the start of the battle until now, the large-scale encirclement, shooting, and bombardment by the Japanese army had only resulted in injuries to their own people. The fact that the enemy had not been harmed at all was what caused the Japanese to be thrown into chaos.
Qingteng took a deep breath and said: "Go get the tank, I'm going to send this bastard to hell today!"
"Sir, our sniper is on the road, waiting for the tank. He's also keeping an eye on the arsenal, just in case something goes wrong, our dereliction of duty will be severe!" The deputy officer whispered to comfort him.
"Hah! My empire's hundred-odd warriors were all sent to their graves by his hand, and you want me to just let it go like that?" Sei Tō said in anger.
"No... I'm going to get the tank right now!" The deputy officer saw Qingteng Yimutu's anger and didn't say anything else, immediately turning around and riding his motorcycle towards the arsenal at high speed. The corpses along the way made this deputy officer break out in a cold sweat - such an abnormal enemy must be very powerful! If they're not eliminated today, it will be a huge threat to the entire war situation in the future!
Shan Yixuan looked through the clock tower's gap at the Japanese army's full mobilization and couldn't help but wonder, what kind of trick are those devils playing again? Machine guns have been used, mortars have been used, what's next... Oh no, won't they be sending in tank troops now? If that's the case, today is really going to be a bad day. Shan Yixuan took a deep breath and secretly prayed that what he said wasn't true!
The bustling Yang City fell silent in an instant, with no one on the streets except for the corpses lying on the ground. Every household's door was tightly locked, and every resident's heart was in their throat. The Japanese atrocities had become all too familiar to them; they just hoped that such things wouldn't happen to themselves. As soon as the gunshot rang out, the police station dispatched over twenty officers to Yang Manor for protection. The police chief truly didn't want anything untoward to happen at Yang Manor; if something did occur, it would no longer be a matter of whether he could do his job, but rather whether he could keep his head on his shoulders!
Yang Ziluo paced back and forth in the yard with some anxiety, wanting to go out and see what was going on outside. The guards did not allow it, and Yang Ziluo worried about Shan Yixuan in his heart, silently praying that it would not be Shan Yixuan, no, absolutely not!
"I'll be right back, okay?" Yang Zilu said as he walked to the door and spoke to two men in police uniforms.
"Miss, we have our duties to perform, please forgive us for not letting you pass!" The two policemen blocked Yang Zilai's path and said in a low voice.
"Or, or will you accompany me? I'll just go and come back right away!" Ziluo begged bitterly, the first time in her life she had asked someone for a favor, and it was for a stranger she had only known for one day.
Two policemen shook their heads and said: "Sorry miss, we haven't received orders from our superiors, so we can't accompany you out, let alone let you out."
Yang Zilu stamped her foot and said angrily: "This is house arrest!!!"
"Sorry, miss!" The two policemen said with their heads still bowed.
Yang Zilu took a deep breath and walked forward, asking: "Then can either of you tell me what's going on outside?" As he spoke, he looked at the two policemen with pitiful eyes.
"Miss, this..." A police officer looked down somewhat awkwardly.
"Hmph, don't think I won't turn back and tell your captain that you two are bullying me! Hmph!" Zi Luo turned around, with an arrogant expression.
"Don't...please don't say it, Director will kill me, I have old and young at home..."
"Alright, alright, tell me, what's been going on outside? Why were there so many gunshots?" Zi Luo didn't want to hear the police say anything clichéd like "don't worry, we'll take care of it", she could say those things herself.
"This afternoon, several people bought banned medicine at the Japanese-owned Baofeng Pharmacy. This anti-inflammatory medicine is only purchased by Eighth Route Army or anti-Japanese factions, and it's only used when there are seriously injured personnel... The Imperial Army wants to capture them! However, just as they were about to be caught, a mysterious figure suddenly appeared behind the Imperial Army and used hidden weapons, causing many casualties among the Imperial Army. The Imperial Army gave up chasing the people who bought the medicine and instead chased this person into the Bell Tower on the south side of Yang City. The two sides are currently at a standoff. I heard that the Imperial Army's artillery unit has arrived, but it seems like they're all..."
"Is he that formidable?" Yang Ziluo couldn't help but mutter to himself, wondering who this person could be. Could it really be him?
The sound of tanks rumbling from afar was getting closer, and Shan Yixuan couldn't help but furrow his brow, muttering to himself: "Damn it, isn't it just killing a few people? Although it's not just a few, do they have to use tanks to scare me? This is ridiculous, aren't they going to get themselves killed?"
The tank passed by, and the corpses had already been dragged to one side by the devils who cleared the road. The huge roar seemed to cover a piece of dark cloud in the sky above Yangcheng. Even if they encountered the main force of the Eighth Route Army, Qingteng would not dare to mobilize tanks arbitrarily. Today, however, he actually mobilized a tank for one person, which showed that he was determined to kill the people in the clock tower. The appearance of the tank gave confidence to the panicked Japanese army, and with only the bullets of the Type 38 rifle, they could not penetrate the turtle shell-like armor on the outside of the tank even if they died trying.
